Guys, I'm 64 years old, and last March, I found vinyls of Bloody kisses and October rust in a used record store, curious i played them on my turn table, And Dann, Dudes Where the Hell was i when Peter was alive, and you guys were together? I can't get enough of Type O Negative now. I hope to find everything out there on Type O that i can find. thank you both and Josh for the experience after the fact. You guys still have a major influence on the lives of people.
I'm the same way I didn't find them until 2023 it sucks broke my heart ♥ but better late than never I guess. But I like to think that if he'd known sooner that he had diverticulitis he'd be here right now.
Bro, I'm 56 and literally I can't believe I did not cross these Type O guys before. Sure I missed them. Feel like Peter death a personal loss to me. Their sound is just amazing.
That's my favorite LP of theirs just like Panteras 96 LP the great Southern trend kill that came out that year those LPs made me respect them more how they stick to their guns and sound as bands in the Nu Metal alternative rock Hip Hop metal alternative metal era where everyone was selling out
I love listening to Kenny & Johnny talk old stories about the band, I hope one day Josh will join them. Bloody Kisses, October rust & Life is killing me are my favourite albums.
What a great interview, thank you. Kenny on the unreleased live album: "It was professionally recorded but it wasn't professionally played" 🤣🤣🤣 Classic!
I'm in high school and type O's music is the only thing getting me through my final year there. They convinced me to finally get off my ass and pursue music like i've always wanted to. I'll love them forever in return.
After millions of interviews with Type O recently asking the very same questions for the millionth time it's really refreshing listening to this interview and hearing new things and thoughts from the guys. Thanks!
What a great interview. I was impressed with the levity and good natured laughter involving memories of the band's glory days. Successes and trivialities. Both Johnny and Kenny look good for the wear and tear over time. Healthy and happy. But my favorite moment in this fabulous interview was when Johnny was musing on the life of Peter. The question was something along the mood swings of Peter and what he meant to the band give or take. Check out the pensive look on Kenny's face at 17:38. He's in deep reflection of someone he worked with and revered, now gone for over a decade. A sad remorseful look but you can tell he still feels the loss of a bandmate and friend. The look in his eyes is priceless.
I didn't get into TON until well after Peter had passed, but I make up for it now. I own a lawncare company and if you see me out working there is a 95% chance, I have the band blasting in my ears. I can't believe I went so long without listening to them because they are my favorite band now and it's amazing the sounds they were able to produce together. It's amazing music. And Life Is Killing Me was my favorite album too, so its weird to here that they didn't like making it, because its really good.
Same here! My favorite is Dead Again, followed by World Coming Down! I always thought TON was one of those unique once in a lifetime bands that sadly flashed out of existence with Peter's passing!
I wish johnny & Kenny & Josh would sit down together and talk about the old days of type O and make a video of it with what ever they still have of songs that they did but never put them out on the CD's that they have. I would buy it. I B probably one of the first person in line to get it. Cause all of their albums I love. My favorite ones are: Origin of feces - bloody kisses and October Rust their music will always live on and johnny Kenny Josh and Peter will also never be forgotten. God bless you all 💚
Life is Killing Me was my first Type O album. I truly believe it's their best. If Peter magically reappeared they'd be bigger than ever, they must be more popular now than at any point you might call their "heyday".
thank you for this interview it's great! very funny and real. i still love type o i have 4 type o tattoos and saw them 27 times due to me being on the october rust tour for a very short time. peter was a drama queen for sure. he also was hilarious and a musical savant. i kept in touch with him for 20 years it really effected me a lot when he died we were friend and let me tell you there will never be another peter he was so intelligent and unique but at the same time a huge clown. great sense of humor. i miss him dearly 💚🖤
i want to add the whole band we're great so much focus was put on peter especially after his playgirl but the other members were really talented and kind of got lost in peters shadow. i love each member for different reasons and i did some work with johnny and his wife a few years back. nicest people ever. i think kenny is my favorite guitarist ever like his tone and drawn out notes are so recognizable. this entire band was underrated hugely. i miss josh's scarcasm that he was so fluent in and he was a master on keys
Thank you for sharing the memories and feelings of those moments. Typo has been with me since my adolescence in the 90s and I enjoy each song as if it were the first time.
This is so awesome!! Major gratitude 🖤 I cannot tell you how Type O Negative is some of the best of my life. These guys are all brilliant. RIP Peter. Jeez, this is so welcome--these men are so cool and yet so real. Very insightful and articulate. Much respect 💚
I don’t wanna be me was the first song I heard back in 2013-2014. I was just blown away from Peter that I had to look them up. I fell in love with the band. Fast forward to 2021 I relistened to TON. Holy shit, I became a die hard TON fan. Last year I picked up a bass because I heard wolf moon. Ever since I just love everything about the band and I got TON’s logo on my right forearm. I’ll never stop listening to them everyday. You guys really helped me with coping with life. Thank you for everything. I can’t wait to show my kids TON
They have been my favorite band since Bloody Kisses. I was fortunate to see them live in the late 90's. Thanks for the great interview, its great to hear the stories!
@@Trikipum Honestly I don't know if it's harder for everyone but it is for me. This is probably like TMI but I'm struggling with drugs rn so it's hard I just feel so much pressure I'm scared
@@ratburn922They got me through HS from 2001-2005. Hell, I was in HS when Life is Killing Me came out. Got it that very day! As far as drugs, I struggled with them then and still struggle with them now. But hear this: It might not feel like it, but it gets much MUCH worse, the longer you use them. Get out while youre young before you burn every bridge and wake up in hell. You can do it. Especially if you start working on it now. No judgements here. I just dont want you to end up like me. 37 and wasted so much time suffering and have hurt so many people I care about.
I was listening to Life Is Killing Me today. It’s my 2nd favorite album after October Rust. World Coming Down is close to 2nd but not quite. I love you, Johnny and Kenny!!!!!💚🖤💚🖤💚🖤
I have the promo version of this album with the original song endings and sequencing. I still listen to it all the time. “Type O Negative - Life is Killing Me. The new album, in stores this June.”
And Josh is now a paramedic?!?! Being in the Emergency/HC field myself… I don’t think anyone that is so blatant to take precious/valuable things and just THROW ‘em AWAY is the very best fit to be actively SAVING people’s lives!😝😂 I’m kidding of course… while it is sad to think that Josh has pretty much turned his back on that part of his life/ considering so many things worthless.. it is very hard to do what paramedics do and I applaud Josh INTENSELY for his desire & dedication! It absolutely takes a rare breed! Good for him! If you’re gonna save anything, save those lives Josh!! 🤘🚑🤘
Life Is Killing Me is easily one of their best albums. If not their best album. I can't believe they don't seem to like it. Some of the best & most beautiful guitar riffs, melodies & harmonies I've ever heard. Anesthesia IYDKMIGTHTKY (Gimme That) (We Were) Electrocute Nettie Todds Ship Gods I Don't Wanna Be Me That album is fantastic & so massively underrated. Some of their best work.
I have to love that album as it was the first, last and only time I saw type o negative(I was 16). I'll never forget johnny and Kenny drinking beer and laughing at all the people who didn't recognize them in line outside first ave in Minneapolis 🤣 October rust will always be my favorite as it was the first album I learned every song off of on the drums🤘
I recently heard another interview from 2023 when Kenny says he talks to Josh all the time because their wives are sisters. I'd never heard that before.
LIKM album came out 2 yrs after I discovered TON, was stoked and bought it when it came out. I got the 2 CD deluxe edition. That album did not disappoint. I want to say it was their pop album. If I want something harder I go with the early albums and October Rust for the goth atmosphere. LIKM is in my top 10 albums of the last 20 years. Highly recommend to new fans.
I find it surprising to hear that there was so much strife around the recording of Life Is Killing Me... In my personal opinion, that album was the strongest work of their entire catalog.
I guess after retrospect, I shouldn't be surprised in the least... many of the best metal albums of all time were the direct result of turmoil and strife.
Also I can relate to a practice turning into a circus it’s so easy to lose focus. Even there is people that shouldn’t be in the room at the time. Anesthesia was awesome too by the way!! Haha Dan Folger was hysterical in that.
DUDE! Can you please tell me how to get in touch with Kenny? As a type o fan from the 90's and having all the albums and buying them aain for the none more negative set and having a Fernandez guitar, i have stuff i want to ask that i have never heard anyone ask them before. Please let me know, whatever it takes!
Same here!! :::smh::: I completely wore out my original purchased CD and couldn’t take not being able to hear “A Dish Best Served..” and “How Could She” so I grabbed another..soon to be worn out as well🤘😝🤘
I agree with K and J-LiKM is weak. It was disjointed and had no cohesion. It reflected how fucked up the band really was at that point, and aside from 'Anesthesia', the rest of the album is weak. To me, it's obvious Peter's state of mind was chaotic and focus was something he had lost.

Every time I watch this another phrase tickles me till I can't breathe. This time it's "IT'S GARBAGE. IT'S WORTHLESS" in a Josh Growl from both K and J.
