This is spot on! Thank you. I am in my 8th year of peri menopause and the anxiety is the worst of all the symptoms. Never before did I fear life or death and now I worry, cry and think that I am unwell. And then a day will pass and I feel normal again. What a roller coaster. I am so grateful for your blog and all the women who share their stories. Together, we will get through this and, be stronger for it. Stay strong everyone ❤

Hi there! Thank you for this video. I never get tired of hearing about the anxiety component of perimenopause. It makes me feel like I am not the only one! I can bear up against hot flashes and most other symptoms, but its the ANXIETY and sense of complete OVERWHELM that I am not coping with. Panic, anxiety, overwhelm, feeling dissociated.. most days I feel I am going insane, literally. My work and relationships are really suffering. I cannot take the typical meds for anxiety and have tried all the tricks in the book for it including counseling and supplements. I have been on the Combi Patch HRT for a year. It helps my hot flashes, night sweats and aches and pains, but it is not helping my anxiety and insomnia. I am 54 and still having periods.. feeling like I have PMT all month long. I workout daily, I eat right, I am normal weight and excellent health. God Bless all women in this phase.. it seems to unfair to those that suffer so drastically from the perimenopause/menopause! Thanks Eileen for all you do! Hugs! XOXO

Yes my hrt does nothing for the anxiety . You just have to put up with this constant bollocks. You just have to retreat and lie down for days when it gets bad. Tnere is no end to it . Its like a chronic illness. There are times when i fret i am drastically riddled with cancer or other to be so drugged by anxiety light headedness all the time .i stagger here , i stagger there. I never get any better. The anxiety stops me from exercising. I am too frightend to exert myself. I have considered ending it . I dont know why i keep thinking this will end . Why do i hang in there ? I dont know really. Do other women put up with this constant crap ? I thought HRT was supposed to make you symptom free ?.

I am so glad I found your channel. I am 46 and started having menopause sympthoms about two years ago, first only missing periods. Last autumn anxiety came and it was so so horrible. I have everything you described exept for these need to tidy or check lights etc. Many days I feel like I am going insane. I have tried supplements but nothing really works. Monday my doctor will call and I will try HRT, well now I read comments and many say HRT doens't help with anxiety. I don't really have hot flashes but I am so tired most of the time. My strenght has dissapeared. This is not fun at all. It is affecting everything family, social life, work, hobbies...

I've suffered general anxiety and health anxiety since my early 20s. I weaned myself with the help of my lovely husband off medication. I was starting worry that perimenopause and menopause will exacerbate it but I am positive I will be ok it's all in the thinking and breathing for me as well as good diet lots of water, exercise daily and my hobbies. I know it won't be all smooth sailing but I think if we take Eileen's advice and stay positive it will be ok ❤️☺️ Also don't watch the news or read it constantly especially now with the state of the world

I’m so happy to come across your comment and also for this video. I’m turning 51 years old next month. Nobody ever talked to me about symptoms of peri or menopause so I just assume ok when I get there I would just get hot from hot flashes. Since I only got dry skin and brittle nails as well as irregular periods during my peri menopause I just thought it was a normal part of aging. Little did I know anxiety is one of the symptoms that can creep up now at the end of peri menopause. I went from a happy and calm person without any anxiety issues or sadness before to every few days of anxiousness and feeling down. I thought I was going mad for about a month. I was really suffering from not knowing what changed me. Also it didn’t help that I only got a warm feeling in my chest so I didn’t know that was a hot flush. I don’t sweat or get red in the face like I was told so I couldn’t tie it together with menopause. I tried to figure out what was wrong with me and constantly looking for answers. Never connected it to menopause. When I feel the anxiety coming I would start to worry more and it would make it worse. Like a vicious cycle. It was such a tough month and it didn’t help that I got Covid a month and a half before the anxiety started so I kept thinking it was from Covid. My primary care wasn’t any help and made things worse by telling me I think too much and worry too much so I got anxiety. Never mentioned it was from menopause. It wasn’t until recently my neighbor who happens to be a doctor and went through this told me it was menopause that the dark cloud lifted. Once she told me I instantly felt like I can calm down and see the brightness. I’m just relieved to find out now. Thank you for giving me hope that this will one day go away,

The scary thing for me is all the symptoms you described in this video I am experiencing on and off and I'm in my '70's way past menopause. I think the loss of estrogen just affects us throughout our later years and it can completely change our personality...scary stuff. I don't take any medication or vitamins and perhaps I need to take supplements! I need to really try eating in a healthier way and getting out more for daily walks. Thanks for so much helpful information!
@AvogelCoUk

Hi Spoly Yes, you are right, our nervous system doesn't always bounce back after the menopause so it often reacts quicker to more minor situations. Diet and exercise certainly do help so you may find an over 50s female multivit can be of benefit and being out in the fresh air can lift our mood quite a bit! Best Wishes Eileen

I experience this in the beginning of each month. Perhaps it may be a pattern that my estrogen is dipping more at this time of the month. I am working in changing my diet. Stopped eating refined sugars as much as possible. I dont drink coffee, but I have been off sugar for about a month now and I feel calmer. I also started drinking Chamomile tea right after my last menopausal rage which happened September 10th. 2022. I enjoy the Chamomile tea and Bengal tea that Celestial Seasonings puts out. A great help for calming me down. 😁 I like to walk for exercise daily. Mostly I am watching my refined carbs. I know water is very important as well. I have to work on drinking more water. So today, I am feeling much calmer.

Thank you so much for this talk. My anxiety is so bad right now. I hardly can function. I was diagnosed with GAD/PTSD/OCD in my twenties. I did get better. Peri years it all came back, plus health anxiety. I never had health anxiety before. Covid fears made it worse. This past couple of weeks anxiety is due to my husband coming home announcing we might have to move to Ft. Meyers Florida. The construction company he works for the Ft Myer's business was destroyed. They need everyone down there with specialized skills. I tried to be strong. I did tell my husband I don't think we should do it. He agreed and told them no the next day. My biggest tip is you need to talk to your family, no matter how hard it is. My husband & I have this thing where I ask my anxiety levels and he gives me a 1-10. I don't know when they are bad. This has been super helpful. I do have anxiety medication. I have to take it sparingly. Dark rooms, lavender, cold cloths on your neck. All those really help. I have lots of LED candles I keep lit to help calm me. I do the thirty minutes a day with music. I also do a lot of crafts that I can count like diamond painting, color by number adult coloring books, puzzles. I also play a lot of card games on my computer. Counting cards really helps. Strangely, caffeine helps me. My doctor told me years ago during a panic attack our blood sugar is all over the place. He told me to sip on a soda. This was in the 1990's but he held this firm belief for decades till he retired. He believed the caffeine helps loosen tension in some patients. The cold calms the nervous system, sugar stabilizes the blood sugar, carbonation settles stomach. I have a friend who is a war vet with PTSD/GAD and soda makes him worse. It really depends on the person.

She knew straight away that this didnt sound like me as I'm the most positive, upbeat one in the family. She straight told me to look into peri menopause and get myself to the healthshop for advice and guidance on nutrition and supplements to help me. Thank God, Im coming vack to myself but like another lady said in the comments. I dont mind the hot flashes or night sweats it's the Anxiety, that can be very unsettling and scary for me.

I have been dealing with anxiety for a few years (I'm going to be 40 soon) and if felt like surges of cortisol going through my body. I thought I needed a therapist and I've basically been having regular sessions for years and it still happened. Then I was TTC for 2 years and closely monitored my cycle for a few months. Last month I had an ultrasound and found a large follicle which did not release and needed progesterone tablets to get rid of the follicle before it required surgery if it got bigger. After having the progesterone tablets I felt back to normal without those anxiety attacks and realised it was something physiologically happening.There was no outside stress or childhood trauma that was making these palpitations happening. I finally got a diagnosis of preminmenopause which actually has been a relief because I'm on hormonal replacement and feel back to myself. I'm literally not worrying about if I one day may or may not get pregnant and know that HRT Is helping me in the present moment to enjoy life the way I used to.

Oh thanks so much for making this video. I am 50. I just started suddenly worrying about getting cancer. Probably because I have neglected my health for too long, so it’s probably a good thing. Anxiety doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it can drive us to do the things we ought in any case. Better health, exercise, eating better, losing weight and getting my proper screenings now, But never did I think it was associated with menopause. I just thought it was something inside me telling me to get my scans, so I must have cancer. I started having chest pains at work, and now I understand everything, this is ridiculous. No one tells you that it can get this bad. But perhaps now with some awareness, I can put things in perspective and keep myself calmer.

I always had some anxiety, but the social anxiety hit me in my 40's...getting dissociated around friends, etc. Made no sense...Then fear of heights hit, for no reason....Then panic around stress, then health anxiety, then not coping with anything very well, early 50's developing full anxiety disorder.....cats died, brother and dad died, pandemic, business closed, unemployment.....Oh lordy!!!! Tried all sorts of things...hormones, therapy, breathing, yoga, essential oils....Been using the Anxious Truth podcast.....a little estrogen cream on my fanny, otc liposomal progesterone...Still hard, but better.....🥵👍

Great tips. One thing I would say is anxiety can be caused by dysautonomia. I thought I had menopause anxiety as I was having distinct surges of tachycardia, nausea, sweating and an immense feeling of doom. What I didn't know was I had hyperandrenergic PoTs. My body is releasing noradrenaline in order to try to bring my blood pressure up. Please get checked if you have these symptoms as menopause does cause other issues to develop at the same time.

To all my fellow sisters, I feel you♥️ I'm 46 years old and I bartend for a living where you have to be very fast and mentally sharp. Peri-menopause really has taken a toll on me and has killed my moral, self-esteem, confidence, motivation, energy, and has wrecked my body. People at work don't understand one bit when I have just one off day where my brain just shuts down for a brief moment. It's a constant struggle for me to be on the up and up. But I am maintaining with lots of supplements to help with the rollercoaster swings. I know I should change jobs but I've been bartending since I was 26 years old, I just don't have it in me to change jobs and relearn something else. I don't have the energy to do so. And I can't blame my work performance on peri-menopause because I know I'll get the axe. I feel so cheated all of the time 😭

I went to my GP who is also an integrative doctor so she is into natural help as well. She suggested magnesium glycinate as well as passionflower tincture. I just wondered your thoughts on the passionflower as I haven't tried it yet thank you 😊

I'm 50. This time my period came 56. day (longest pause ever). My anxiety and panic are almost unbearable last 15 days, thought it would be easier when bleeding started but...no 😞 I have anxiety and panic attacks since I was 10 but so strong it wasn't for the last 10 years. I'm waking and going to bed with horrible anxiety. Blood pressure is higher. Insomnia and awful fatigue are here for more than 2 years. Is there any time in perimenopause when symptoms aren't so severe? Before I knew it will be rough during PMS but when bleeding starts symptoms faded. Can you please help me to understand all this? Hope I won't be in this horrible anxiety for years
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 8 месяцев назад
Unfortunatley, anxiety is so common in the perimenopause due to all the hormonal fluctuation going on. Your hormones can dip and peak practically overnight and it's this sudden change that can trigger symptoms such as anxiety. If you've experienced this before the perimenopause, then it can make you more susceptible to ongoing anxiety at this time. Hopefully, my tips will be helpful for you, as anything you can do to ease symptoms, will be of benefit. Acupuncture could be another option and remember to drink loads of water as dehydration can be a primary trigger! Most women do find that once hormones have settled after periods stop, symptoms ease or become more controllable. Best Wishes Eileen

Hi, is morning anxiety part of menopause too? I wake up earlier than usual, with a gripping feeling in my chest, and a dread of the day to come. Iy makes me freeze, and I'm so overwhelmed with the feeling, I can barely get up and dressed. It gets better as the day goes on, but I still don't feel happy, even when it's past... I'm either numb or miserable. I've had depression before, and it feels similar, but not the same!

Hi Patty Cake, Yes, protein is really helpful, a protein powder drink once a day can work well and don't forget the magnesium as this is important to stop muscle fatigue. Hi. For me it has. I am about 5 years post-menopause and still have a lot of the same symptoms, not as severe as when in peri-menopause but they are still here. I think it is very individual. I have learned to handle the symptoms but it is not always easy. :( One of the worst for me is fatigue, it is not everyday but frequent. Hopefully once I am retired it will be better and if I feel like sitting and resting I will be able to. :) I don't think I will ever be able to go on 5 day long backpacking trips as I did before peri-menopause but at least I won't have to worry about trying to get through the workday. I have an active job and am on my feet moving most of the day. I can say that I feel like a different person post-menopausal. There are some good things about it but there are some bad. As one of the gals said above, one survives it!

Actually, I am finding that having more salt and actually Celtic salt... Is doing well for me. I was only getting probably a thousand mg but the research I've found seems to state that across the world 3,000 to 5000 mg of sodium actually lowers your heart risk... This evening I actually had a half a teaspoon of Celtic salt and water. And I have never felt so calm in my life. I think it's actually helping with my high blood pressure. I know this goes against the new science here in America. Where they want us lowering our salt intake. But it seems that a lot of people with low salt really have high blood pressure and they're not very healthy...

Hello, I’m so sorry to hear how much your suffering and I totally understand 100% as I’ve been there! Trust me you can manage this, medication may be an option for you but sadly it wasn’t for me! I stumbled across the most amazing little book called SELF- HELP FOR YOUR NERVES by Dr Claire Weekes. If you look on Amazon and read just a few of the reviews you’ll soon realise what an amazing help this little book can be! It truly saved my life! We try to push this awful anxiety and panic away because it’s petrifying and you feel like your going to die! Night time is the worst and then you frightened to go back to sleep in case it happens again , then your tired so it happens more, a total vicious circle! I’m not suggesting you don’t visit your GP but you could have this book probably in the next 24 hours! Within only a few pages you start to understand what is happening and once you apply the technique ( which is so simple) you can feel the anxiety easing, and boy what a relief ! It is just so well explained, such a comforting book. Thank you Dr Claire Weekes, I just wish more people knew about your amazing little book. Good luck Muzna, 🙏 you’ll will come through this x Kind regards Jo
