Hi, Miss. Miss, you mentioned that since heterolytic fission occurs in polar compounds, the compounds that undergo this type of fission will have measurable rate of reaction. I don't understand this part; why is it like that?
Hello Nara Unlike free radical reactions which are chain reactions and are very fast, reactions involving formation of charged intermediates are comparatively slower and can be more easily measured. Free radical reactions are like domino effect while heterolytic reactions are like playing Jenga 🙂. Hope this clears your doubt.

Hello Shreya let’s take an example here. Me and my twin divide everything equally- money, food etc but when it comes to my favourite mint ice cream, 😋 you know what will happen : ) I will take away her share also 😃😃😃.So its all a matter of environment. In the presence of certain solvents, the two atoms can get separated with one carrying the shared pair of atoms and getting a negative charge while the other atom is left with a positive charge. Hope this helps to explain. Happy we could connect. Hopefully you will encourage your friends and classmates to join in too. Happy learning and lots of blessings
