I have went to 2 comps. Its definitely the non cuber parent. But some parents are ok with cubing. And I like that. Mines a mix of a percent that’s ok with cubes, he actually cubes himself. The nom cuber parent (he’s kinda in between) and the parent that says you have too many coobs Edit: and the parentthat think s solving makes u a genius Edit 2: and the one that gets the best 3x3 even though you are a beginner. I avg 3 minutes. And I got a GAN13. Like WTF
Funny thing is that I am a cuber parent... and asked my kid to teach me how! Found out cubing is addictive. A year later I have over a dozen puzzles and a WCA ID. But I have to admit I was once guilty of asking my kid to solve in front of a friend.
it’s so funny because everyone thinks you gotta be good at maths or be a genius in order to solve the cube but it’s actually just memorising a bunch of algorithms and finger tricks and combining that together..
My mom thought I was joking for about a year, then when she saw me buy different cubes she was like “wait, you can actually solve those?” She thought it was a fake like training cube.
I'm glad to have a loving and supportive cubing mom who understands the joy and appreciation I get from Rubik's cubes. She buys me affordable cubes and took me to a competition once. Also, I like how your channel is so indie and chill. It's not all fancy or anything, but it's quality content. You rarely see RU-vidrs trying to start up, because the first ones you see are the big ones and so you never get into anyone else's content. As an aspiring video maker myself, I think you're cool. Keep on cubing :D
my parents always interrupt my videos when I'm filming! this so relatable! i was filing a unboxing once and my dad walks in and screams chicken and walks out! to this day i am still confused
1:46 when his dad said “Can you take out the trash”, I was wearing headphones and it sounded so realistic that I thought my dad was actually telling me to take out the trash😂
i got a rubik's cube from a dollar store a few years ago. when i started to learn it, my dad got me a gan 12 m leap and i haven't even learned it fully yet. thanks dad!
I dont even know how parents and relatives relate solving a cube with being good at math or school. If only they knew im just a step away of droping college.
The parent that buys their kid the best cube even though they’re a beginner is so relatable, my current personal best with the rubiks brand 3x3 i have is only 1:33.40 and my mom told me that she was gonna get me a bigger cube like a 4x4 or 5x5 just because i can solve it in under 2 minutes. i told her that if she’s willing to spend a lot of money on me (which she does, she spoils me sometimes lol) then to just get me a better 3x3 like a speedcube, i’m trying to get my PB under 20 seconds, but i’d have to find motivation to learn a different method because the beginners method isn’t that fast lol
@@selors8396I hope you’re using CFOP by now (or zz or roux or Smth). What’s your main rn btw? Since you’re around 40ish secs, it would be a good time to master f2l. Them you can be sub 30 or even 20. I used to be 20ish, but then I lost interest for like a year. So now I’m like 30ish.
I swear every parent says that you have to “calculate the whole solve and he’s super smart because he needs to be good at maths” I hate it because it’s just memory not maths
2:50 where’d you get that statue? I wanna know ‘cause I just so happen to be a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BIG FLASH FAN!!!!!!!!!!! TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT THAT!
3:54 actually happened to me i was learning how to solve the rubiks cube that had been sitting on my desk for 3 years and quickly learned how trash rubix brand cubes are, so i bought the moyu rsm cause it has magnets and its resonably priced, well when i was showing my parents my new cube they were like "we bought you a cube itll be here saturday" it was the gan 11m pro... i didnt even know about lube yet
I’m the a different type of cyber parent: one who got into cubing after buying my son a cube that he didn’t use, then all my kids got into it watching me doing it!
my dad be like: "i figured out how to solve it myself", and "you won't ever be able to solve it in sub 10 seconds" me: *tryharding to solve it in sub 10 seconds* i'm at 17.355 pb and 22.627 average, 6 months in
I mean to be fair though if you're an adult with a full plate of a stressful life I don't judge getting mad at fast loud cubing in the room while trying to nap, like support your kids and their hobbies and dreams, but there is literally no reason for the kid to be doing that in the same room instead of their own if you're trying to nap, that's like sitting and chewing extremely loud and fast next to someone napping, just unnecessary, come on. 🤣
Bro, once I was going to make my 13 birthday, I said my dad thatvi wanted the gan 11 m duo but because of a comp that i was goin to go (my first one) and he baid me an gan 13 maglev uv coated, an 2x2, an 4x4, a 5x5 and a lube
My parents will buy me a Rubik's cube and they'll tell me and they will be like "I bought you a gan cube" and I'll be really excited, then it gets here and it's like a mei long or something. They also go "you can solve a Rubik's cube but you can't do this" and I'm like "it isn't intelligence it is just memorizing algs
2:27 a few days ago i texted my mom, saying that i really really wanted this new cube because it looked gorgeous and i saw some people saying it’s really good. i had to convince her and then she said she’s ordering it but then asked me “don’t you have enough cubes?? how many are you gonna get??” i mean yeah it’s valid. i got 9 cubes now (four 3x3, two 4x4, one 2x2, one mirror cube and one megaminx)
