Brief discussion about the types of engineers that work on bridges:
Civil Engineers = Everything site specific, especially soils.
Land Surveyors = Measures the site.
Hydraulic Engineers = Determines the water flow and volume.
Structural Engineers = Designs bridge and abutments.
General Engineering Contractors = Oversees the entire bridge project.
Dirt Contractors = Excavates soils and may do concrete work.
Additionally (not covered in video):
Soils Engineer = They test the soils.
It might be possible, on super simple projects, for property owners to hire a land surveyor and get a soil test done in order to avoid the expense in civil engineers...but some civil engineers can SAVE clients money by coming up with smart solutions.
