This is very useful. I carefully examined all types of laptop stands on Taobao, almost all of them have significant draw backs, now I'm using a in-bed dining tray on my dining table, the measure is: my knee bend 90 degree angle, my shoulder is flat when typing or using a mouse, my eyes are on the same level of the upper edge of the screen. The only draw back is the leg of the tray limited my mouse area(I'm using a full size keyboard), since I do not play games, it's ok for me.
I actually have a "daddy long legs" stand for my home setup. It works well for me as I needed a height just a little bit higher than what most dual rise stands can afford w/o being wobbly. It's pretty stable too. But it looks far from sleek, sophisticated, or minimal 😂 Good overview of laptop stands!
The light grey stand you looked at near the beginning has a second larger piece on the same hinge point that gives you further height adjustment, that's what the wider slots are for. This gives higher setting options, and on the wider model can hold a heavy 17" Lenovo laptop with a dedicated gpu even at the higher height.
this was a great video. very pertinent topic which people should really think about before purchasing. thanks... i'm still considering getting a "daddy long legs" type stand, mostly for use while lying down in bed (because you can still put your legs up and adjust the height). i still didn't quite understand what was the problem at the low to medium setting? is stability the problem? i get that at the high height it will be wobbly. the point of this design i think is to be able to change it to whatever you like, rather than having different stands/tables for different situations... what do you think?
