This is a great educational video. A lot of people don't know there are different types of seizures and think all seizures are grand mal. It's embarrassing for me when I have a seizure in public because people stare at me like I'm some crazy lunatic on drugs or something. One time I had one at school and woke up in a room with two police officers interrogating me and thought I was on drugs. They kept trying to make me confess I was on drugs and I kept explaining to them it was a seizure, but they didn't believe me because they thought all seizures were grand mal.
Most people even some Drs. only become concerned if it's a gran mal. Otherwise they tell you you're just stressed or it was just anxiety or tremors and may recommend talk therapy.
Damn, instead of calling a doctor, they called the cops! So sorry for you! How it's easy to be misunderstood in this society due to the total ignorance!
Thank you for demonstrating this kind of video, this can help a lot of people because there are many kind of seizures. BTW mine is Tonic Clonic and its very hard to deal with this kind of seizure but I'm keep on praying❤️
I have petit mal, absence and the last part. They said I used to laugh and sometimes scream.. Suffering since 1997, life is very hard.. I Can't drive and it is very embarrassing when it happens amongst other people who didn't know me..
Wow. They did the most accurate representation of what it feels like to have a myoclonic seizure. If you have these seizures, if/when you have another one, try to vision what it would look like to be on the receiving side, and it'll seem like they did a great job.
My son has everyone of these type of seizures. Thank you for this video because it helps me show his new nurses. The only difference we have is that our head drops happen rapidly instead of how slow they are in the video. Excellent resource!
Thank you for posting this video! I just started working with a student with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome and this was super helpful in identifying their seizures! Much easier to see than to read pages on pages of notes
I've had all of those happen to me, the one that put me in the hospital was "clonic tonic" now I'm on medication but occasionally have absence seziures or body spasms

Had epilepsy come out of nowhere in my life 5yrs ago was continuously daily, weekly having minor staring into space out of nowhere and back to life, de ja vu, walking around in circles talking for irrelevant things once was walking up and down the hall way continuously talking about boats and trains. Did choke my brother once my mind not knowing what i was doing as he was trying to pick me up when I fell to the ground. Ripping my tounge tearing my cheeks apart hospitalised half the time when having serious grandmal seizures. 5yrs to find the right medication all meds beforehand not good side effects or couldn't prevent them. Whole different world seizure free am able to work, drive, eat proper food instead of just soft food because of seizures, some people thinking I'm a crack head having seizures in public. Happy days to live normal life now!!!
i have epilepsy, i just realized that whenever i have small lapses in thought or memory is usually preludes to a seizure if any one watching this knows someine with this its something to watch out for
I don't know why I watch these, I myself am an epileptic with the worst kind of seizures (grand mal) so I know about seizures as I get many different kinds. Mainly grand mal but also 80% of the other seizures here. Tho since I lose consciousness during them I don't even know what they look like so I guess this was informational in that aspect. But well done your demonstrations were very accurate.
I have diagnosed absence seizures and currently undiagnosed focal aware seizures (I'm waiting for a urgent neurology appointment) but iv had absence seizures for over 20 years and I think one of the scary things is I can't tell if iv had one, theres only been 4 times I can say I think I had them even though I suspect I actually have them quite often as my memory is full of tiny gaps. But then Iv got the focal aware ones where I usually know when it's going to happen (thanks to having auras) and when it does I'm conscious and aware but I can't move, can't really speak and sometimes struggle to breath. I just lose the ability to move other then blinking, twitching or my muscles tensing its like being trapped inside your own body.
Ever heard of status elepticus with tonic clonic seizures? It's a tonic-clonic that keeps going till emergency services shoves a needle or two into you. That's what I have and it sucks.
@@ApurvaPopat I have since discovered that what I actually have is pre and postictal epilepsy. It still sucks but I think it is somewhat less likely to kill me. I start out feeling intoxicated and flashing lights, which isn't all bad. However, it ends with me unconscious but convulsing on a hospital bed. It's like a Tonic Clonic that lasts for an hour.
i watched this cus im scared, all of a sudden my eyes start shaking at random in random parts of the day and my mind goes black, i dont know if its a Seizure or not, is there a way for me make sure its a Seizure cus i dont know how to make it stop or go to show someone
I was looking for symptoms of about to have seizures because my whole body is hot, i have watery eyes, My head aches like crazy and my Throat hurts when i yawn, or swallow. I think it may be scrept throat... Im not pretty sure. And YES i took medicine
I have 00:50 and 01:24 seizures when I woke early in morning 😞. I'm having medication of encorate 300mg. My doctor keeps telling me, it will go after some time. It's been 5 years, that time haven't come yet 😞.
hey, i had the clonic type of seizures back in 2019 when i was 16 for two times within 7-8 hours.i am now on medication nd its been 3 years.i just wanna know is there any chance that it could happen to me again?
Is there a seizure that causes involuntary sleep? I've tried looking it up, and what comes up is "can you have seizures during sleep", and "can seizures make you sleepy". I'm not looking for either one. What happens is that me wanting to sleep for no reason is the seizure.
I'm sleep time seizures and since 5 months this happening to me in one month two times or three When morning i woke up after seizures my mouth have little blood come that happening during seizures my arms and legs pain i feel tired I'm still confusing that is epilepsy ??
@@ilovetotour no bc I don't have a driver's license and dont really feel safe on a bus.. Idk why but my parents wouldn't let me go to the doctor even for check ups. (I dont have any close relatives/friends even close to me to help me out)
So im not exactly sure what mine would he medically classified as . My doctor says theyre Tonic clonic but onlu difference is my body doesnt fully convulse. Can I ask if you could share it to start sharing my journey. My first 2 videos on my youtube channel - ru-vid.com/show-UC5Jcbyk5KXOC7hIgglCxWmA
The tonic clonic seizure looks so scary!!! I have these seizures and I am always confused when I wake up because people around me looks so scared. I didn't know it was this bad!
Hi @Jess Horse, what do you feel when it's happen??hurts? Feel tired after? I have an epileptical 3 yrs baby boy and he Don't speak AND want to know, how he feel to help More! Thanks
If you are an EMT by now remember not to shake or push a person that is having a seizure this video is not the right protocol. Contact the Epilepsy Foundation if you would like to know how to treat a person that is having a seizure.
Times used to be very Challenging,i had the worst days of my life living with Epilepsy,i appreciate you so much Dr Okubi,You have restored me my life that was lost already,All the pains are gone.
I am honestly so glad yall made this video. I think seizures is something that really isn't talked about. Anytime I tell someone I'm epileptic they always ask the same question. "what should I do when you have one"? "How do I know when you are having one?" I think this will really help people who don't understand seizures!! Thank you!!
@@ApurvaPopat My father has got symptoms of partial seizure as well as stroke on different days. Could you please tell more about partial seizures : 1: Causes. 2: Treatment. 3: Exercises.
Oh wow... I was once at the pharmacy, and the pharmacist that was helping me had a series of atonic seizures right in front of me... I didn't say anything at that time because I didn't know what to do and she was still able to finish grabbing my meds and all... But I should've talked to her.... Asked her if she was alright... I hope she's okay.
i came here to see if im actually having a seizure.Sometimes im just reading or something and my whole body moves sort of like i got jumpscared really damn bad.im still not sure tho if its a seizure or not :(((

so I have epilepsy, and I’ve always wondered how it looks and it looks so scary. I can’t believe I go through that like 10-20 times a month(and I’m actually lucky with that because my friend has about 100-150 each month).
@@beetlesstrengthandpower1890 Thank you for your reply. My daughter is having rapid, uncontrollable leg movement with teeth grinding only at night and none during the day and it’s concerning me.
Looks like I’m tonic, them others lucky bstrds. When I have mine I’m out for the day after seizure cos I feel like somebody has kicked the sh!t out of me.
I actually used to have epilepsy very young and mine would tend to be random fainting or I’d just stop and forget everything and I would vaguely hear my mum saying “Lucia do you know my name, where are we right now” my parents said it was terrible to see me in that state and eventually my brain made me stop learning new things and make me forget things that I already know like how to speak so I took speech lessons for 3 years But also I remember being told I kept having seizures in assembly and teachers would carry me out And not to mention the medication I took at the time made me uh I don’t know how to describe it like angry where I would be small tempered But now it’s a little hard for me to learn things quickly still but I’m much better and I’m proud to say I’m no longer epileptic :))
I appreciate this video. It’s good to know what a seizure looks like and what you should do because you just never know. These are atypical. I worked with adults who had mental disabilities and these were not the ones we saw most often (thousands of people through the school and homes I worked)

I suffer from tonic clonic (or however you write it) seizures and it’s pretty heavy, i had one last monday and seeing this video helps me understand why people tend to panic when seeing me have one. The person having a seizure most of the time doesn’t even know it and wakes up later feeling confused as hell. This video is really informative and helps me cope because it often feels like no one understands the problem i’m facing
