This was so helpful! I’m a beginner and made that very trip to the fabric store just last week. I was so overwhelmed by the selection I too walked out with nothing. Now I feel I can return with confidence and get just what I need and nothing more! Thanks so much! Happy sewing 😊

The key is to know what you need right now, because in the end you will probably buy one of each anyway ...

This was very helpful thanks, i bought some pins with the coloured round ends but they very quickly became blunt and difficult to push through fabric, can you recommend a good quality long lasting type please good for making dolls clothes.

Very informative. I've been sewing for years and didn't know much of what you explained! By the way, that's my husbands picture on the site.

Thank you; I added a safety tip on the site, but I missed it in the video: never put pins in your mouth!

Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear what the brass pins are used for. I saw some in the store, they were more expensive than other pins. I wondered if they more more resistant to bending, more rigid. Do they last longer? Thank you for your very well done video.

Steel rusts, faster or slower, but it does; I frequently find in my older boxes pins that are rusted. Even nickel plated, it still may have rust spots. Brass does not rust, so if you know that your quilt or garment will sit in humid conditions and the pins will be in there for any extended period of time, you may want to use brass ti avoid rust marks. I personally have never used them though, so while I can attest to the fact that sometimes I do see rusted steel pins, I can't say that brass pins will never leave marks. Brass does react to oxygen too and creates a green thin layer, so while it may be rust proof, you still might get marks on your garment, not red but green. Not having used them though, this is just an opinion. Thanks for watching!

@@SewingTutorialsByAgeberry Your video was very instructive. I love tools that will perform well. I will get more needles and won't mix them together, I will have separate pin boxes. I like to use large pin box so that when I scoop them out they dont spill over. To me , pins are not of equal quality and I may have to buy some more before I find the perfect ones. About sewing machines: I find that since I have two sewing machines, its one breaks I dont have to interrupt my project while the other one is repaired.
