There are two ways I regularly beat custodes. 1. High damage single attacks with monstrous scything talons. Any model that can take more than one pair, do it for the extra attack. Carnifexes are great for this. 2. Genestealers, hormagaunts, ripper swarms. Because a 3-4++ only goes so far against 200 attacks in one fight phase

@@hivefleettiamat2678 this to a T. In particular, dimachaerons are the ABSOLUTE WORST to deal with as a custodes player. Basically the only thing I've ever seen that straight eats an entire small infantry unit or an achillus dreadnought in a single melee, then can pay CP to dip out before I can retaliate. Plus, it's durable as all hell, so pelting it with even unusually good custy bolters is gonna be slow going. Of course, custodes are famous for great melee, but the dimachaeron's set of skills allows it to pick its fights wisely. And about the swarms, I particularly remember tyranid warriors being particularly annoying for how tanky they are for the cost, though I suspect the gaunt varieties are more efficient for the sheer volume of them you can field.

Probably waiting for the codex to drop so they can compete.

In the Chapter Approved Books and FAQ docs on the comunity site. Also the White Dwarf Magazine and Campaign supplements can include new ways to play your army, for example the Leviathan supplement comes from one of the Octarius campaign supplements.

A lot of that is purely due to the way he built the list. Against Crusher Stampede you would just load up on Vertus Praetor Jetbikes with salvo launchers. Take a couple Achillus Dreads aswell and you have a list that stomps crusher stampede.

They try not to build skew lists

2 3xman Vertus Praetors with Salvo's isn't skew but standard. Emperor's Chosen also gives you rr a hit or wound roll. On 3 shots of dark lance eq shots hitting on 2+, rr hits and wounds of 1 with trajann and then an extra RR if you roll a 2 to wound makes them extremely reliable as well as resilient.

Start with Kill Team. Much smaller squads so it takes less to get started :) you can slowly build a 40k team from there

His weapon makes him Strength S8 because of Murderous Size adaptive physiology. Idt I said he was t6, if I did then yes that would be a mistake unless you're talking about Custodes wounding the Hive Tyrant - in that case they were getting +1 to wound or smth iirc

To be fair, against tyranides crushing army, if you don't play numerous vertus and/or FW units you don't stand a chance as custodes, only having D2 weapon just make you underefficient against anything with -1 to weapon damage.

Any list built to fight it really. Most armies can beat it, but it plays so different then most armies do that it's hard to built blind against which most people do

The Custodes having a 4+++ would have helped a lot., and Bricky rolled really really badly. Plus Matt literally spent all his CP in turn 1. Nids are still playing with overcosted bad 8th edition datasheets on nearly all non-FW stuff. Stop being salty.

You're not allowed to use the same stratagem in the same phase multiple times. The CP re-roll stratagem was used in the psychic phase and then again in the charge phase, 2 separate phases

Reading this as a DG player makes me legitimately think Games Workshop’s “balancing team” is legitimately sniffing super glue. Then you’ll inevitably get the fanboys defending them because they got slapped by DG one time. Death Guard NEED a good FNP to be in a good spot competitively especially with everything cutting through invulnerable saves now, -1 damage for the supposed “most durable army in the game” is a fucking joke when every cunt and their mother has it. Also off topic but why the fuck did they nerf our most used units due to them being “too common in comp lists” yet didn’t compensate the lesser used units to promote their supposed goal of “making more diverse lists”? Do they realise nobody brought Plague Marines or Cultists because they’re objectivey trash compared to Poxwalkers and Blightlords/Deathshroud?

That hive tyrant had to be buffed though.

@@M.S.G.95 i'd be cool with -1 dmg, and a 6 up invun on all units (undivided/universals could get it with cp like spawn do) or just give us a damn fnp. The codex creep is killer, and they still felt the need to nerf in the dataslate lmao.
