Tyrone Downie's unforgettable keyboard riffs towards the end of the original Heathen track is one of the highlights of that record... Magnificent!!! I never get tired of listening to it even after all these years.
Love real live one with Bob Marley and the wailers . Carlton barrette went to a mode with his drums set, especially coming to the end of this sound. This is epic. I love it. I play it when I'm stressed out . We truly love all of you .
Wow, so much talent in the Wailers. That made it a great band. Tyrone was known for his keyboard work but his singing while unknown until this moment is quite beautiful too. RIP.
Je viens d apprendre... c'est très dure de trouver les mots alors juste un énorme merci pour ta musique et ce don que tu as fait grâce à ton talent au monde entier tu retrouves bob et les autres là-haut éclatez vous bien RIP peace love
I interviewed Tyrone helping Roger in the early 1980s. He looked so young, was so upbeat and enthusiastic about becoming a better musician. To give two specifics - Tim White puts Downie on Catch a Fire and somewhere I read he toured with them in LIVE! In that way he was an original Wailer from 1973. Also, I know that he accompanied Bob's Mom to the Havasupai village in the Grand Canyon to do a free acoustic concert. There is an intense version of Tyrone singing Zion Train. Finally, he was very smart and aware person and brought the mood to to Bob's music. Ominous like this or cheerful and bright like Three Little Birds. Just about everyone including me forgot how much he made the music. Thank you for sharing this incredible version-this group did a superb session-are there more songs from this tape?
Great pianist, just listen to his work on the track the heathen on Babylon by bus album by Bob Marley and the wailers. Rest on my man. My deepest condolences to junior Marvin.
been listening to the wailers since 1990 I've heard probably everything they ever did , concerts, rehearsals, studio work etc so it is very sad for me to know that Tyrone died, it's like one of your childhood super hero's passing away ,
It would be unusual for FIP to show up to record one song. They would have a few at least. Has anyone seen more of this session? I take it to be at his home in Montpellier, southern France?
