D-Rock ..notice the names will change as you speak with gladiators from watts......Many became upset with me when I said Raymond wasn't considered a top fighter by us...Bounty hunter frog didn't mention him..Tyrone Tate a crip didn't mention him.....The fighters from Florence firestone didn't come into watts nor did the fighter in watts come there.......I fought 98 percent in Florence firestone...But I also went to 92nd and Jordan high got kick out of Jordan for fighting... One bishop that fought in watts was James Galvin...who by many is considered simply the best

Jimmy Lavender Same thing with Tookie a few people stated in interviews that Tookie wasn't a fighter and people got upset about that... We live in an era where truth is seldomly told and lies overshadow the real... I thought that question was perfect for the content and should be asked to all interviewees in my opinion. Me personally I enjoyed your interviews the most and I have to give you the upmost respect for coming back to Kev's platform and correcting your statment. If you don't mind me asking @ Jimmy what was your most memorable fight? Win lose or draw?

It was not James Brown at the Coliseum festival. It was was Edwin Star. He asked the "youngmen" to clear the stage area. He had no clue that they would fight and beat people to clear the space. Things were flying through the seating area like rain...you had to have your hear on a swivel. A White kind of "hippie looking" guy was walking on the track (during this wrecklessness). He got swarmed on by 20 people; he disappeared from sight under it, then a metal chain was held high above the swarm, it then disappeared downward on this guy. *The Coliseum felt like a giant brawl and food fight (with heavy objects). There was no casual time to watch what became of the White guy. You were lucky to find an exit tunnel clean. James Brown was not there...the thing had barely started good before it was turned out. Signed: SCLA Graduate 73' *Flashback..."Just say no to mobbing."'

Peace Bro Kev Mac. Here on RU-vid there's a short 20 minute documentary on L.A. gang life in the 70's that was actually made in the 70s called "Street Gangs: A Challenge for Law Enforcement". I typed in 1970s Crips and it came up. They interviewed a couple of OG Crips while they're young at that time, amongst other gang bangers as well. I was wondering were you familiar with it? If not you should get up on it because I'm sure you would dig it bro. I wonder if any OGs you've interviewed are familiar with it or anybody shown in it. I see a lot of people fake bangin blood and crip but places like Shreveport and Little Rock really bang because gang members came from L.A. to Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi to visit family back then and brought the gang culture. Tookie was born in Louisiana and Turtle was born in Mississippi I think.
@daboss6385

Yeah same for Texas. Ppl always forget that when crack came out in the 80’s a lot of LA gangs members put their family on from some of those states in order to spread their enterprise. It’s crazy that some ppl think Tx,Ak, Ok, and Shreveport just started banging in the 2000’s those gangs been their since the crack era.

my brotha that's insulting. you'll never hear the italians claim the mobsters even though its a fact they existed. true enough it has a foot print in history but to proudly claim that as who we are as ppl. you need knowledge homie.

BLACKMQQN trust me "brotha "I have plenty of knowledge don't say that to me. And that's the problem we need to stop comparing ourselves to other races when it comes to our history. Italians, Mexicans, Arabs whoever tell their history good, bad or indifferent. Regardless of how you feel it's still black history because it involves us!!!! Everyone else can document, dissect and exploit our history good or bad and make millions off of our struggle.

1st of all... *** Much Respect to the historical documentation of the foundations of "the game'. *** - - - A lot of these O/O/G's in your videos keep mentioning Rosecrans Skating Rink which was in Gardena Shotguns set until they turned it into the Gardena SwapMeet... and a lot also they mention Shotguns playing a role in the early foundations of the westside... Nugget from Raymonds mention them as originals, Hawk from Blocc mention them as originals plus how they got the name, and at least 10 others O/O/G Crips and Pirus have mentioned Rosecrans Skating Rink just like homie here mention it in the first one minute of the interview. Sounds to me like we need to hear some perspective from the Shotguns. I'm just sayin'... throwing it out there.

There's a constant "beep" throughout the interview. I kept checking my smoke alarm batteries thinking the source was in my home before I realized it was coming from this interview!

Yesterday’s OOOG’s making money for their hood and today’s bangers making money off their hood.... Looks like doing the opposite what the founders had in mind... smh

Watts Stax was in the early 1970s. It was a part of what was called the Watts Summer Festival. I can see how they get conflated because the 1972 concert was a part of the festival. But Watts Stax was only one year.

I hear you bro. Just tryna offer some ideas. Maybe put together some volumes where someone that didn't know about the culture could watch in order and see from A to B how it all came together. You could maybe even turn it into a class/curriculum that students could study.. I like the hard work you puttin in bro, keep pushin.
