Here's what I know about Tyson Beckford: He's a good egg. Many years ago when my Dad died I had to get from NYC area to South Bend, IN where Dad was living when he passed. I was absolutely beside myself, distraught and I'm sure you could see the pain on my face. I'd been crying non-stop and hadn't slept for days. I don't recall now if it was at the airport in NYC or the stopover at O'Hare in Chicago, but I know that when it was time to get on that long slow TSA line, and I was barely walking from grief and exhaustion, some kind person stepped back and let me go in front of them. I looked up and saw this man's beautiful face looking at me intently. I'm sure I was likely crying, I couldn't stop the waterworks. I couldn't get the words out to thank him, I couldn't manage any kind of smile, I just sort of looked at him and went ahead and we kind of nodded at each other. He had no idea what was going wrong for me that day, but he could tell it was SOMETHING pretty bad and that tiny act of kindness has stuck with me for almost 20 years now. I recognized him at the time but couldn't put the name with the face until after I got home. I knew I knew who he was but grief had it blocked. So, if he ever reads this, THANK YOU TYSON BECKFORD for that kindness on what was one of the absolute worst days of my life. I will never forget it. Something so simple but it was so huge for me in that moment. He's a kind person.
