Kanye is actually the pioneer of getting Black designers in general through that door of high fashion/couture. 2009 he was the 1st & only black man/musical artist to have his own shoe with Louis Vuitton. Virgil Abloh/Jerry Lorenzo/Pyer Moss are all byproducts of what Kanye did at the end of the 2000s going through the mid 2010s. That’s why he & Virgil cried together and hugged each other after Virgil’s first LV show bc of the doors that were shut on them early on their fashion careers (2006-2012) to breaking down those barriers to have the infrastructures they have today. Kanye deserves all that credit. They might had finally admitted black men made clothes look cool & people bought them bc of rappers/hiphop/rap but it definitely took even longer to realize they (black people) could design in their spaces just as well.

In all honesty Virgil has already fucked it up when he sent that little $50 donation to this bail company when all the those black people were getting arrested for marching in 2020 standing up for their rights against police brutality and then screenshot it that was disrespect to the whole black community but nobody wants to call him out on it
