imagine sitting on a stage in front of hundreds of audience members and camera's etc talking about how you almost committed suicide etc.. incredible courage.
Man you don’t get a lot of people talking about suicide non the less how there gonna do it. The amount of courage to do that. You have my full respect Tyson Fury
I’ve been at rock bottom. If I had the confidence to jump off that bridge i would’ve done it. Lucky I didn’t have the confidence because there’s always a way out of those low times
The Cook and also killing yourself is not gonna make things any better, it’s only gonna destroy other people’s lives like your parents and loved ones. It’s sort of selfish in a way.
Joint Lucas you don’t know the feeling of feeling like suicide is the only way out do you. Of course it’s cowardly and selfish but that didn’t matter to me that’s what depression does
He nailed it when he said. "Once you've got mental health problems, they never go away. You just learn to manage them." I dont' think you ever get to that point where you're like "Oh yeh I'm better now" You just learn to figure out what helps you get through the hour, day, week, month, year. A good thing to remember is that any kind of mental health issue comes on a spectrum. What might seem like a challenge for some, may seem like a nightmare for someone else. What might seem like something you'd just cope with, can be unbearable for someone else.
I agree Patrick, although my problem with mental health is... Why would you want to get through that hour, day, week etc. Life's hard enough, why would anyone wamt to feel so I'll all the time.
@@elliotwatson3964 I don't think you have much choice it never goes away. Therefore you learn to find ways to cope with it to help . Sure anyone with it would love to not have to go through it. Unfortunately it never goes away , and if you dont find ways to cope you will not feel good.
You need to have things that take it away for a little while, his is training, mine is playing poker. If you just sat there feeling suicidal all day every day then it probably isn't worth it.
Jamie McCarthy watch the face to face with Wladimir 2 and still believe its all fake, someone wouldnt put on all that weight and talk like that if they weren’t depressed
@Jamie McCarthy yeah yeah just don't forget to cry again when your idol, that fake fuck who was never the real champ gets knocked the fuck out again 3 weeks from now 😂not even that big a fan of fury but you aj fangirls who go out of your way to hate him are just pathetic
@Jamie McCarthy previous eras?😂 One of those sad fucks who lives in the past eh? 🤣 Those bums of previous years themselves have said that competition and skill levels progresses as time moves on, wlad being as dominant as he was and fury beating him is proof of that. You're the one who's obviously crying😂
@@aos5929 if you don't care why even comment and waste your time? 🤔 I'm guessing you just feel tough behind a screen anonymously, no need to be rude and hypocritical kiddo Enjoy your weekend
He did have the nandrolone case, he got depressed no doubt the man suffers some form of mental illness, self inflicted or born with it, either way gotta respect a man of his stature spreading the word on mental health, and if he can help a few our fellow brothers and men, power to him.
Talking about his struggles really hits home for me. I didn't know much about Tyson Fury before but damn he seems like a man to really look up to not just for his achievements but for talking about his lowest times, his emotions and how he lets himself be vulnerable. What a man
Imagine one of the toughest dudes alive and he's such a nice, sensitive guy. Just nice to see that proof that you don't have to be a mean asshole to be tough.
I love how you can actually see how genuinely interested and empathatic Russel is and how Fury is so emotionally open and not putting up a tough guy act. Both are absolut legends in their fields
True. When he spoke about his problems, it made me like him even more. It's like finally, a celebrity can speak up for the actual people that suffer from it and raise the awareness of it. Not just that but other addictions too which people suffer from.
I love that Tyson is getting the respect & love he deserves now. Proper good guy with a big heart & one of the best heavyweights in boxing history EVER!!! Get up there my boy
He's not one of the best heavyweights ever settle down. You clearly haven't watched a lot of boxing if you think that. He's also a drug cheat and lied about giving a purse for a fight of his to charity. Not a great man.
I know never judge a book by it's cover. But this guy just seems like a genuinely nice human being, he has a kind demeanor. I wish you well Tyson Fury, greetings from Kenya.
I used to think this geezer was a nobhead until I watched this video. Moral: Don't listen/watch/read mainstream/social media. Best thing I did was gave that all up years ago. Big up Tyson Fury! 💕
Genuinely such a nice, fun dude. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and never once was I scared or think he was going to kick off. He showed enormous respect and I didn't want to stop talking to him. I'll forever respect you for your kindness Tyson and I wish you the best of luck.
Absolute brilliant man. So honest and upfront. I've not read many books in my life but I'm buying his book. If a song about sausage rolls can be number one Tyson and robbie can. It's all bants though.
What a struggle this man is an amazing role model to himself, his family and everyone around him. Every road to recovery starts at the breakdown, mad respect for Tyson fury!
Seeing a guy like Tyson be honest about he feels, means so much. The consensus has always been; tough man, tough mentality. There is hope for you -- please talk to someone. Talk to me. I need to talk to someone. You need to. I'm here.
What do you want to talk about man? You suffering from mental health issues? That's not a joke,as you just asked I decided to reply because like you I believe ppl like me who do suffer from said must speak honestly, and esp to others in the same boat, maybe talking here may help someone we do not know, and that would be really nice,it's needed, and Tyson has lead the way for men who are told there whole life's explicitly, and in many unspoken ways it is weak to show emotion, weakness to cry etc, this must change because I know lots are suffering in silence,or worse spoke of it to be shot down, and made to feel even more hopeless.
He's right what he's saying. No matter how life gets you down and how bad your mental health gets there are people to talk to.Im a sufferer and will never give up.Nice to see he's fighting it and winning.
It is so refreshing to hear Tyson speak so candidly about depression and suicide. I've had depression for 35 years and have always felt I had to conceal it, often frightened of losing friends and at times jobs. I like to be open about depression and suicidal ideation, but it's not always possible even among people you thought would be understanding such as at my previous place of work (NHS). I now live in New Zealand and find it more socially acceptable to be open about mental health.
Love the quality of this content I think I’ve watched this about 3 times and still feels like I’m watching it for the first. Russell Howard deserves an order of chivalry for entertainment
Tyson fury takes a lot of stick. But for me he is an absolute legend that boxing needed. Not only is he English n gifted boxer but such a honest common man that has out boxed the best in the world. He is legend cuz he’s from gypsie fightin fanily with a massive heart love him best boxer to come out of Britain n world
What an amazing human being. Tyson being one of the best boxers and stereotyped as a hard man. And hes able to open up about so much hard stuff really speaks to me. Guys girls anyone suffering no matter how people see you, you can open up and be looked at as a total equal
Because he's fake.. Says one thing one minute then the opposite the next.. You from UK?? He literally told you to fuck yourself 2 days ago. Fu k all uk fans.. You turned your back on him and he's done with you.. Hell never fight here again.. You mean nothing to him.. His words
Chris James none of us are perfect? Be honest man the average man contradicts himself everyday it’s only because the spotlights on him that we see this.... I really hope you and the rest of his haters give him a break he’s not a bad guy
@@michaelbarrow4098 the burden of proof is on him. He said he'd be giving away millions and he didn't do it. I mean he would confirm he'd have done it seeing as he said he'd do it before the fight with Wilder. Are you that stupid?
Great to see Tyson outside of a boxing context. His confidence and charisma is there as ever, but his intelligence really shines here too. Great interview
Love the bloke! Breaking down barriers and stereotypes and good on you Russell for the empathetic way you handled it. Not just a comedian, at true humanitarian and all round decent man. Both of you have given so many, so much in this interview ❤️
Having suffered from Depression, on and off, for the last 30 years, so I can totally understand what Tyson was talking about... I've been there, and I've bounced back, more than once, and I'm sure that I will be there and bounce back again, on and off, for the rest of my life, because, like a lot of things, there is no 'cure' for depression, but there ARE things that I can do, to stave it off, and guard against it, as best I can, and, over time, I've come to know my mind very well, and I've learned how to monitor it, so that a lot of the time, I can help myself. But it has taken me 30 years, to get to this stage, and so I say, to all of those people, who aren't at my stage. PLEASE, I know that its hard sometimes, to admit that something isn't right, and that you are NOT 'O.K.', but trust me, help is out there, and how you are thinking and feeling at the moment, isn't the real you. Its just a stupid chemical imbalance in your brain, that is effecting you, and you DONT deserve to feel the way that you do, so please, take courage, dig deep, because YOU are STRONGER than Depression, and you CAN fight back, and seek help, because help is literally a Doctor's visit away, and there is no shame in being ill, and getting the medicine that you need, to feel better. People with illnesses do it every day, so why not you ? =)
@@gordonfagan9329 I did away with anti-depressants. I now take CBD for pain. Listen to me. You are depressed because you are not receiving any sunlight. Look into Geo-Engineering. Read this book = Chemtrails, HAARP and the Full Spectrum Dominance of Planet Earth by Elana Freeland x.
This is why I love Tyson and Mike Tyson. Both giants not afraid to speak on a subject and cry. Shows you it means more than being strong and bad to be a man
Depression is truly overwhelming, horrific and terrifying. I can 100% understand why some people just don't make it. Thinking of everyone suffering, hope we can all get through it 🤗🙏
I liked him before the breakdown. I like him even more now. I've watched every interview since the mac has been back and I've never been so happy for someone I dont know. Stay happy!
It's real shit when you come out and let people know about your mental health and not a single person even pretends to care. Not a single friend or family. People like Tyson give losers like me hope. Very grateful for this champ.
As someone who lived with suicidal thoughts and actions for the last 7 years hearing this man talk is inspired !!! I got better too. I was at the deepest darkest place a man can be and I’m sat here today 8 months without a single panic attack or depressive episode !!! I’m cured for now. I may end up back there but I’m not afraid to go there as I know how to get out it. And the knowing I’m not afraid of it is probably why it’s not happened again so far. I know how to best it. It doesn’t control me or own me. This guy is a legend and good for him for showing people that it can get better !!!
Seeing Tyson Fury sitting there and admitting to depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts is so inspirational. Makes you realise that sometimes even people who appear to be as strong as Tyson are human and you don't know what they feel inside. Hopefully this reaches the right people and helps others make it another day even if they are struggling and can't see how they can go on. Tyson is a real inspiration to everyone, even people who don't follow boxing can learn from this man.
Femmy Hoekstra might happen once the series is over, I’m in the U.K. and the clips he posts from the episodes once they are all out are pretty much the whole show, so you aren’t really missing out if you want to watch it like that.
I feel you, I was just coming to look for the whole hour and it's not here and the first episode is gone😭😭 I have no other way to watch it in the US, and I love me some Russ
Couldn’t care less about boxing but what an amazing and compassionate man. Didn’t think I’d ever read his autobiography but I might just have to give it a buy
Tyson Fury is far and away my favourite public figure right now. A working-class boy done good, who’s eloquent and thoughtful and a genuine maverick. He fights like no one else, talks like no one else, emotes like no one else, is genuinely respectful and positive... and supremely brilliant at what he does. What’s not to like?
Nothing but massive respect for this gentleman I've been a fan since the beginning one of the most genuine men around all the best in the future tyson love and respect from Ireland
Probably, how many times he's broke his hands fighting, it gets to the point were they can't be repaired, I've broke my right hand only twice and my middle 2 fingers are pointing in the opposite direction from each other
I have so much respect for this man for talking about this subject....I cried when I heard on 'This Morning', how he had tried to drive into a bridge 😢....Thank goodness that split second decision not to kicked in. I've witnessed a lot of pain in people similar to this and experienced it myself, with a blip in my own life it is a very dark place in your own head, but you MUST reach out....because what people who are suffering don't realise is that there is help all around you and people who can empathise. I understand this subject so deeply that I have become a Naturopathic and NLP therapist. Please don't keep it all locked inside, we are all human, a psychiatrist once told me, it's only strong people who end up breaking down, it is trying to remain strong for too long. Thank you Tyson for speaking out and bless you with continued good health Xx
