I speak korean and watched the original livestream. So I’ll put some more information here for anyone who wants to know more: She said when they started dating, the ex-boyfriend treated her nicely but after a while she realised he had violent tendencies and asked to breakup. From that day he beat her and used the sex video he had recorded secretly to blackmail her. They ‘dated’ for about 4 years and over those four years she was beaten twice daily. She was forced by him to work at an illegal bar pouring drinks. While she was doing this, he secretly took videos and photos of her to use against her too. The illegal bars are also used for prostitution, although tzuyang said she only poured drinks while working there. During that time, her boyfriend took all of the money she earned. After she quit that job, he beat her more and demanded to know how she was going to make him money now she quit so she said she would start streaming. From the first stream onwards, he would take all the money. Since she was streaming, he would avoid hitting her face and used blunt objects to beat her body (she gave the example of an umbrella). There were a couple times when he accidentally hit her face and she couldn’t stream on those days. She said she would do streams after being beaten. He started a ‘management’ company and wrote an unfair contract which gave him 70% of video profits and tzuyang 30% There were times when he beat her in front of staff and he also became verbally abusive to staff. There was a time when he broke a lot of equipment during a rage. At the start, the employees encouraged tzuyang to sue him and escape but she begged them not to do anything and ensured them she would handle it. Eventually with the help and encouragement of staff and her PD, she sued him. After this, he spread some videos and photos of her at the illegal bar to some “exposing” youtubers which prompted her to sue him again which is when he decided to take his own life. Over the course of 4 years (over 1460 days) she managed to record 3800 audio recording of his abuse and the beating towards her. From what I could understand that number doesn’t include the evidence from photos of bruises etc either. That means she truly was being beaten 2 to 3 times EVERYDAY. and in my opinion she wouldn’t have started gathering audio from the very beginning so it could be much more than that number. In the original video they also played one of the recordings and in it she can be heard screaming and begging for him to spare her and saying she was wrong and she’ll listen to him whilst he can be heard degrading her demanding to know why she didn’t just listen to him and the sound of her being hit can be heard. This is honestly a small summary for extra information. It’s truly heartbreaking that she was forced to come out and reveal all this when she didn’t want to all because of those stupid expose youtubers blackmailing her again and knowing if she didn’t soeak first no one would believe it and she would be ruined by the situation 😢 It was truly hard to watch… i hope this comment helps add missing information and context. Many years ago I found her hand with bruise while she doing mukbang. I commented there after that I noticed she wore long sleeves since then. So I was right at that time I knew something isn't right. Glad she get helped now.

It does seem though that Korean authorities are more lenient when it comes to this abusive behaviour. I cried yesterday when I finally understood what had happened to Tzuyang. I greatly appreciate the honesty and strength of her lawyers, as they helped her and stood with her against their CEO and against the criminal, who I doubt he is dead, as the Korean police are famous for standing with criminals. Trauma from this multilevel factor is horrible. It's disempowering, it screws up your world view of trust, the behavior and lack of justice signals that this behavior is acceptable. For someone to have been suffering like this for the sake of intimidation, then success of work for other company members who rely on her, for her fans who did not know and she did not want to disappoint, for the other famous friends and professionals she worked with and not want to bring about shame (cause face it, our collectivistic culture is not forgiving about these types of extortions especially from a man, via an intimate context). Her silence in the cultural shame explains her capacity to be so strong and perform. It is demoralizing and heartbreaking. Internationally, the injustice is obvious. Justice for Tzuyang!

I am heartbroken that Tzuyang had to undergo such painful experience!
