Since 2021 we've successfully restored an Aesthedes 2 to a working state which can be seen in the HomeComputerMuseum. We've also researched history of this Dutch brand and found out only 200 - 250 Aesthedes computers are ever produced, but these were used worldwide. Very cool to see this piece of video restored and available to public!

It is amazing to see this history. The public thinks Adobe invented computer graphics, I just wish there was more. Aesthedes was sold to Barco and became Barco Graphic Systems. Another highly innovative company. The graphic systems they created were even more advanced and were used by a myriad of industries, not just printing and graphics. I was a trained Barco operator, I had worked in physics and unix with a background of graphic arts so this new system bridged everything I had done before. Barco systems (and Xeikon) took me around the world working on computer systems that cost millions of dollars.

Ah, any respected photo editing software can do these tricks now. Amazing to realise this is all done in software now, instead of using very expensive hardware. I am using the Photoshop competitors Pixelmator Pro and Affinity Photo, which are free of any Adobe subscription crap and can do just as much.

Dutch in the left channel, English in the right channel: this would be a prime candidate for a video with multiple audio tracks. RU-vid has been working on multiple audio tracks since the beginning of this year, and there are some test accounts who have this feature. The digitizing looks awesome as always, although the computer screen image has flickering horizontal lines, the deinterlacer cannot decide whether it should combine them. Ideally, static scenes should be deinterlaced in "weave" mode, but it is too much work. EDIT: But really, low band umatic is almost as bad as VHS.
