Speedrunning U.N. Squadron is by far one of the most interesting types of games you could try out. It's a shmup, but honestly has a different take as compared to many other shmups on the SNES consoles. I know I'm 3 years late from your post, but this is one of my all time favorite games. Super clean run! I'll try to post my progress as I de-rust my U.N.Sq skills once again.

Please attempt this on extreme mode. I beat this game without losing a life on extreme mode back in 1998, went all the way with the F-8 then bought the F-200 and crushed the boss hard.

How about a speed run without taking any damage? I'd love to see the time record on that

That would be super cool! Would be hard since you need to take damage to abuse i frames. Would be interesting to see how much of a difference it would make

Does anyone know, at @14:30 When he's like "This is a serious run now" What factor made it a serious run as compared to other runs at that point? Is there some RNG that allowed you to kill that boss slightly faster that I may have missed?

hey! so, at that point of the run, I got a frame-perfect trick that saved time (as I knew it would) and this is the second hardest trick in the run. the first hardest trick is in the final boss fight where you see me doing a mashing technique that summed up the run. hope this helps. if you would like down the line I could do a video explaining the speedrun as a whole.

a secret life? ive been playing the game for awhile and never seen that. Theres no information out there for it either so im interested though.

@@Sidarino When I was 9-11 yrs old, in the place where the children were able to hire to the snes by hour, I used to show to the other children that secret, sadly I forgot that one. In many videos on youtube there are missing secrets items to show that I know where they are.

@@Sidarino If exists a snes emulator to enable cheats, to show the hidden items would be valuable, but seems that "cheat" does not exist

@@manueljordan317 it would be something interesting to know, but in the realm of speedrunning it wouldnt be super viable since you dont want to die. restarting the level would cost minutes into the run and potentially a loss in a PB

@@Sidarino Yes, agree about 'speedrunning', but I assumed because you have that level of expertise, you could know about a good amount of secrets items and share them in other video through a normal and complete game

I wondered how you did it so fast. I never realized you you can skip the plane and sub missions. This game is rediculously easy on easy mode. I could see slowdown managment strats being a thing on any higher level.

It’s a process. took a lot of trial and error. You can check out red’s current record video too! He did an amazing job and we was figuring out time saves like crazy. Great runner and homie of mine. Yeah, im not gonna beat this... just search U.N. speedrun for fun, love the game... not good enough for this, omg! Edit: glad WR has shin as character. Thats my fav over the other 2

hey! yea shin is actually the fastest, we used to think it was mickey but then a runner figured out some time saves only shin can do :) thanks for watching!
