If you can't afford college, but want to become an officer - an idea is to enlist for just 4 years then use your benefits to join an AFROTC unit as a non scholarship cadet. While you are enlisted, you can go for your CCAF during your contract to expedite the process. You can do that after you complete your upgrade training and/or CDCs, which begin as soon as you arrive to your first duty station.. Then, work your butt off at the detachment and go for that commission. It will take some years, but at least you'll be serving and getting paid while going through all the hoops. Good luck!

Lincoln Wikipedia chase it! Make sure you score well on ratings and keep up with work. If you have any eye problems, you’re ok. Air Force’s eye requirements are pretty lenient as a lot of helmet systems and FAA regs allow for use of glasses while in flight. Just be wary of washout

I'm going to college this fall and want to become a pilot in the air force after I graduate. I'm studying computer engineering in college. Would afrotc and computer engineering be too much to handle? engineering curriculum is very rigorous

For information on the ROTC you will want to reach out to the directly. ROTC is the largest and oldest source of commissioned officers for the Air Force. To describe it in a nutshell, it is an elective course in college that leads to commissioning as an Officer in the Air Force following graduation from college. What happens after rotc? The website says that if you pass there’s a job waiting for you in the Air Force. Does that mean you enlist? Also, what happens if you don’t pass field training?

yes 4 years for most airmen, 10 for pilots

It appears like you are commissioned as an officer and then are assigned to some officer level job. If you don’t pass the field training then a I am pretty sure that you are just out of the program, but maybe not.

No, you can join AFROTC with any degree. The degree becomes more relevant when you're wanting a specific job that requires it.

@@kalikid01 Depends on what job you want, from what I understand if you want to go rated (Pilot, CSO, ABM, etc) you don't need a specific degree, however some specialty jobs require a background in that field, for example if you want to go nursing within the AF you probably need to have gone to school for it, correct me if I'm wrong though

Joshua Arnold Im an army ROTC cadet, its way better in my opinion, dont you like the Army why would you want to switch? Since you are already in the Army you can join as an SMP cadet, which means you are able to stay in the National Guard but your pay grade would be an E-5 (you wold not be a Sergeant you would still be a cadet). At drill you would just shadow the Lt.
