Did they still have Ranger Joe's pizza just outside the gate of Ederly? I remember that as the best pizza I've ever had. Was CSC company still at Bosco? Or did they finally find room for them in Ederly. I was there from 73 to 75. Delta Battery.

Hey Rich, yes, we posted on the main road in front of Bravo Company, across from the old motor pool on Ederly, and No that pizza joint was gone by 79, but I surely did a lot of Bn PT on the football field in front of Dog Battery, back by the Jump Tower, Airborne RLTW !!!

Ask your chain of command to negotiate transfer to 173rd. Depending on your mos, there could be slots open. But just note that its a fast pace training. Always training tons and you can get into plenty of selective schools. Many are ranger tab and couple have air assault badges and esb/eib badges

Too true. The sad thing is too many Army cats are in love with the Airborne and what they did in WW2. Barely any static line jumps were conducted after WW2, let alone Vietnam. The most recent one with any sort of enemy opposition was done by the Rangers, not the Airborne. That's as it should be, seeing as the Rangers train to a higher standard than the Airborne. So WHY in the heck do we have one force of great paratroopers and one force of okay paratroopers? Just make them all good. One or two more Ranger Regiments aren't going to hurt, and it would do the conventional army good because there would be no middle man airborne units between the legs and the elite Rangers- either youre in a Ranger Regiment and you jump or you aren't. The Army would improve dramatically. At the same time though, the Rangers should go back to their pre-9/11 role, especially since we have to worry about a conventional enemy again. Leave the raids to CAG. Cut out the middle man and raise standards across the board, thereby increasing the Army's combat readiness. No way are our peer enemies going to let us drop an entire division of troops in. No way at all. Those days are gone past, not to mention all the other difficulties associated with airborne assaults, like losing troops on the way in to power lines or broken legs... Airborne school isn't even as hard as it used to be either... Think about how much money the Army wastes on maintaining all those airborne units.

@@cm-pr2ys Horrible and dumb decision. CAG only has 300 to 500 people. They cannot raid by themselves. Rangers have evolved into legit special forces unit and should be one. The 173rd, 82 and 101st should aim to be elite infantry pre 9/11 days like the rangers with a mini selection. Rangers have always been commandos just look at their history.
