All the Paintball crew calling the Marines the US "Army" is 100% bothering those Marines 😆 Not a single Marine I know would be ok with being confused with the Army lmao
@@danielh5127I’m not in the military, so take my explanation with a grain of salt, but the Marines are generally considered more specialized and probably better trained
@@elifoote2995 marines (at least US) are an expeditionary force, they are the ones that would be send around the world to wherever they are needed, while the army would follow. Marines typically would be like first responders
@@danielh5127 In the US, the Army and Marines are two completely separate divisions of the military. Members of each have a lot of "team pride" I guess you could call it and don't like to be confused with the other.
@@romanz2361 The Russo-Ukrainian war has been going on for 2 years now, the war in Afghanistan lasted 20 years. There were definitely horrors going on.
I'm reminded of the Legal Eagle "A Few Good Men" video where he called the Marines "Soldiers" like 4 times in a row. I didn't even know that was a thing until I watched that video but now even my dumbass knows to never misattribute one branch of the armed forces to another. I'd imagine in any real sense they all respect one another regardless of branch, unless you're Coast Guard obviously, but they are all brothers and sisters in arms and by that metric will absolutely rib the shit out of one another. As God intended. (I'm kidding about the Coast Guard. Their worst recruit is more fit and brave than me but I couldn't resist.)
@@fennec_fox77.Only because of the damn umbrella. There should have been an actual team vs team fight to see who is better, none of these RU-vidr vs RU-vidr nonsense gimmicks.
or they're actually Army but Max said Marines on the voice over (not knowing the difference). Would make sense if they called them Marines in person prior to starting they would correct them and say Army. Which would explain why the paintball caretaker said Army.
For those curious, as a Marine, I met some SAS guys and Royal Marines about 20 years ago in a land far far away. Unless things have changed, theres really no comparison. SAS and the Royal Marines/ commandos are more specialized and highly trained than a standard US Marine. I think SAS are more comparable to the Seals while commando units would be like our Force reconnosance. US Marines would fall somewhere in between your standard Army soldier and special forces. SAS size is pretty small compared to US Marines at 200,000. Which is less than half the size of our army.
Talking to the Force Recon guys I know, they compare themselves to SEALs all the time, and insist they are at least as good as SEALs, if not better. They are always pissed that SEALs get all missions that they could easily do.
@@ScottGrow117 They can blame that on joining the Marine Corps. SEALs are handed missions by JSOC, where Force Recon will only execute missions given by the Marine Corps. If they wanted to given the respect of a SEAL, they should have tried out for MARSOC.
@@AntiChris you missed what I said. I'm talking about before MARSOC, pre 06. One of those guys I'm talking about was in the very first platoon of MARSOC Marines. Actually, several, but I didn't know the others all that well.
If you can get a hold of ex SAS then ex seals are just as possible. Delta forces would be a better comparison though since SBS is more related to Seals
Navy seals are equiv to our Bootnecks a lot of former seals have openly said that The SAS are like the american SF unit nobody has heard about If you know you know Civvies need not apply
Yeah that would have been more interesting but the SAS more than slightly outmatch the US Marines. They should have found some UK Marine Commandos and matched them up with the US Marines
@@dynamo1796no, Commandos are still a tier higher than the US marines. For it to be fair you’d have to use the Raiders or Force Recon. The uk doesn’t have an equivalent to the US marines
I think it was marine infantry because that is what his friend texted him. Would like to see a part 2 where Max states he read the comments and repeated it with some raiders
American veteran here, 20 seconds in. I'm calling it for the SAS now. The Marines are a great conventional force, but the SAS is one of the best special operations units in the world. If the Marines won, I'd never shut up about it, ever.
@@joeblow8379 shut up mate they used an umbrella, there’s literally people who were ex us soldiers saying it was inevitable, we literally trained your troops
@@FirestrandsThey should have done SAS vs Delta Forces or the Navy SEAL’s, the marines are not anywhere near the level as the SAS. It was kinda rigged in favor of the Brits.
It’s widely accepted that the SAS is the best special forces in the world followed by the navy seals of the US. But the US and UK train together, truly special friendship. Brothers from across the pond.
One time at paintball there was an infantry reserves lieutenant playing on our team. Most of the day he held back and let everybody just do their thing. Our win-loss record was pretty bad. Then he says to us, “would you like to win one for a change?” We agree, and then he draws a little map in the dirt and gives us his strategy for how the other team was probably going to play it, where we should hide, when we should shoot, etc. The game was over in less than five minutes, and honestly the games we lost were actually more fun because they lasted longer! 😂
Mr. Fosh, I have recently come across a very silly thing that you could do. It involves the Tower Bridge in London. Since I do not live in London, I did some research for this. Apparently, the world record for the number of times the Tower Bridge has been opened in one day was 64 times. All you need to open the Tower Bridge is to email them at least 24 hours before and they are legally obliged to open it for you, as long as you have a mast of 30ft., or 9 m. It takes approximately five minutes for the Tower Bridge to open and close, and if you were to have perhaps a five-ten minute break in between each one, it would be entirely feasible for this to happen. Long live the Silly Billy King!
Max, a known religious figure, who's participated in everything from piracy on international waters to fashion parades, pits two foreign militaries against each other
The issue I see with this is that USMC is a general term for the entire Marine Corps, while the SAS is a specialized unit. MARSOC vs SAS would've been more peer to peer, but I guess even grunts can be effective if trained right.
Despite popular belief. NOT Every Marine is a Rifleman. But a pog Marine is definitely different when compared to a pog of any other branch. Marine Infantry is more akin to.. their 2 or their 3 operators. An example would be Army Rangers, or Air Borne. Not Teir 1 operators, but definitely in the minors so to speak. Every single Infantry unit I ever served with was Special Opetations qualified.
I had to pause the video when I heard that. Like whoa! The Marines were like, "do you see a crayon pride flag on my shoulder?" I don't think he lived for very long after the filming of this video. lol
The US and UK are two of the closest allies in the world too. We work directly with them in all our conflicts. Its crazy that some people really have an issue with the other country beyond banter
@@joeblowe3180 Probably because although there are US military personnel in the UK for a number of reasons, US special forces are a much rarer group, especially in a foreign country even an allied one. Same reason why you prob won't see many videos of SAS at US shooting ranges.
It’s ok. Not everyone knows the flag code. We’re still better than our brothers over the pond(this video was rigged). I’d say he’s a patriot regardless.
It’s worth noting that US Marines aren’t actually special forces or anything, they’re basically just the army but more equipped to fight in places like the Pacific Ocean
@@Ouroboros63 they aren’t elite actually, kind of a misconception perpetrated by the different equipment fielded. While there are special units inside the marine corps, there is nothing inherently special about them besides their capabilities amphibiously. This is especially apparent given the fact that historically, the army and marines will fill each other roles such as D-day being carried out by the army and land based invasion and occupation in the Middle East being heavily involved with marines.
@@ThatWhichObserves lol, I’m gonna guess that person has no more evidence for that than the rest of us. I think we can be pretty confident that they are not active though. They aren’t getting sanctioned to do this whilst active and they wouldn’t want to either.
I was imagining this after the SAS video!! This is awesome! Side note for those who don't know: The United States Marine Corps is not a special forces unit, but rather a branch of the 6 armed forces (USMC, USA, USAF, USSP, USN, USCG). The SAS (Speacial Air Service) is a special force unit, but not necessarily a branch of the British armed forces.
Max fosh i respect you. You are the one who puts all of our intrusive thoughts into actions so that we dont have to and yet have the joy to see someone did it. Thank you
the idea, that in any sort of real life scenario the us marines, a branch a highschooler can join, could keep up with a unit like the sas, that handpicks its applicants is genuinely ridiculous.
My first thought exactly. SAS are the UK’s top notch special forces. I fully respect our US marines and appreciate them however, the comparison is like apples to oranges. Now do this with Navy SEALs or Delta force and we would have an actual comparison. Either way, God Bless America and her allies 🫡 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
Not even with SEALs. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) and 1st SFOD-D would give SAS / SBS a run for their money, especially with the assets made available to US forces but SEALs are a tier 2 organisation that recruits mostly from navy basic training candidates, once they've passed green team they're more on par with UKSF. On another note, 'US Marine' just means a member of the USMC. That could be anything from cooks to Force Recon marines. And the USMC fights in a completely different way, USMC have their own land, sea and air assets that they can make use of on a battlefield, they are trained to a standard that can rely on those assets. SOF (Of any country but more so non-US countries) need to rely more on their own abilities and gear. The USMC is a brilliant organisation that is an incredibly effective warfighting machine, alongside the USN, USA, USAF but they are not truly comparable to SAS like this.
Started out with the odds all against 'em But the British had a fighting man named Brock He was fearless, he was brave, and all Queenston he did save From the 'Yankees who were petrified with shock....
Im from the UK, stayed on US Marine base whilst working in America coaching ‘soccer’ and all the marines had to say about british soldiers was that they were ‘f*cking mental’ they would tell stories how the brits would just run out there with no gear on to protect their base, absolute hero’s all of them, respect to anyone who is willing to die to protect their country
People calling Navy, Airforce, etc the "Army" is an understandable mistake. Military and army seem like they should be synonymous. Calling them special forces is dumb though.😂
That’s kindoff your fault for using stupid names. All through history they said army. You don’t say. Napoleon invaded with his grand military! You say army. Because they used to be synonyms.
@@alexzoilist9584 that’s the thing. The navy used to be part. Of the army. If you’re talking about the navy alone then you say navy. If you’re talking about the army you say army. If you talk to marines about the entire military and say army? Yeah.
@@thedonkey6704 The navy was never part of the french army. The only argument you could ever make for a navy being part of the army is going back to Roman times where legionaries were in the army but could be stationed on boats. Every modern military, including the Napoleonic French military, seperated the two. There was the department of the navy and department of the army.
I have a friend was was a PJ and it's amazing to play paintball with him. Not only is he a great shot, but he communicates constantly and accurately predicts what people are going to do. Like other people, I think the SAS would have the advantage over a random group of 4 marines, but these contests weren't really making good use of tactical squads.
The marines aren't even special forces xD they're just a branch of the military attached to the navy lol. Should have gone with green barrettes, SEALS, or Delta lol
I've heard that saying many times before, and the sentiment is nice but it's a bit dumb. There has to be a way to easily state whether or not someone is still active duty or not, and "ex-marine" is just the easiest way to say it.
Inactive Marine, former Marine, retired Marine are all acceptable. Retire for those that did at least 20 years. Former (shortened form of "formally active Marine" ) They have earned their right to be called a Marine forever and always. There is a reason they are the only branch in the USA (and UK IIRC) that meet or exceed their quota of recruits.
Nice video, but the title was highly misleading. I was lead to believe that this was SAS vs Marines in paintball. Perhaps make another one that actually puts the two against each other?
Good video, though I do think for the final challenge you should have had the US Marines & SAS face off while you & Preston cheered on your respective nations from the sidelines.
I was at a bachelor party yesterday where we went paintballing. So this is the perfect entertainment while I’m absolutely trashed and body still aching
