U.S. Navy Boot Camp Graduation: June 7, 2019 

5 days from bootcamp, I’m so nervous and anxious! I can’t wait for this day! Please pray for me this is a dream I’ve always wanted to accomplish!

For a while during my graduation, I thought the only person I invited (my mom) wasn’t there. The drill hall (Navy Grad auditorium) started to empty, and I realized I was about to be alone. Eventually, a hole opened up and there she was, as lost as I was. I ran to her and hugged her as I could and I shed a few tears (didn’t give a damn about who was around me). Those 2 or so minutes became a few months for some of my graduates who didn’t have anyone. I could only imagine what the COVID grads are feeling.

I'm extremely proud of my son and very thankful that I was able to attend his graduation division 217. Congratulations to all the new sailors and thank you for serving.

I am preparing myself for the navy. Eating healthier and running every other day and working out

So much has changed since my days at Great lakes (1971). Many new uniforms, but it's nice to see the old dress whites. Some people might get the Marines and the army uniforms mixed up, but a sailor in their dress whites is immediately recognized as a sailor. When I went to bootcamp at Great lakes we were called companies, but now their divisions. But perhaps the biggest change since my time in the military is the inclusion of female recruits with the male recruits. Apparently only the training remains the same. Then, as now. Vietnam veteran United States Navy *GO NAVY*

That's wonderful my Son is enlisting now. He completed 6 years as a Young Marine and goes in knowing he will be an E3 at 🎓 graduating. A pay grade difference for sure he did well and has been nicknamed Duddly Do-Right since a Young boy as you can imagine he will be going to MP 🚆 training I'm so proud of him.

Had my graduation in 92. Retirement in 2015 and this still gets me choked up. Welcome to the fleet!

1979 i was in air force our graduation from basic was with 5 sqdns done in 35 min the navy goes all out ,well done navy

I still get chills in my spine. May 28 will be 50 years since getting out of the US Navy! Time sure does fly.

my oldest son and I attended my youngest son when he graduated from boot camp, it was an experience I will never forget and i was so proud of him.

Five day and I will be there! I can't wait to see my son!!!

I graduated boot camp in 2010. I've never seen this video, but I recognize many names in leadership at RTC of sailors I served with at sea. Well done!

I graduated from Navy boot camp in November of 1965 - Great Lakes naval training center in Chicago Ill, company 575, back then we were called companies. I was 17 years old. None of my family attended, I didn't have a dad, he left us when I was 2 years old, my mom and sister had no money to come to Chicago. After graduation I was stationed on the USS Providence CLG-6 and went straight to Vietnam. I spent 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. I am now 74 and this brings back a lot of memories.

My son is there working hard , he will be graduating I think on March 2020, I'm so excited.

Boy I remember being 9 years old ten years ago watching the ceremony when we came too visit my brother who graduated from basic and it’s different my brother was not lying about it being different

Graduation Great Lakes 1986 tear gas sucked no doubt but the fire fighting training was terrifying. An actual oil on water fire with a 90 pound hose. Every Marine is a rifleman and every sailor is a firefighter.

Why do some graduate in white uniforms and some graduate in black? I seen another video and everybody was in their black uniforms. Did they change it to black?

All I have is a griity VHS tape from 95... Division 953 which was one of the first integrated male/female divisions.

ahhh I was so excited in the past about the NAVY and military service but when I be old I decided to not go I'm now 33 yrs old ofc I always dreamed to be something in military but unfortunately they doesn't like me because unfortunately I'm ugly 😔💔 I really I don't know what is this world's but all I know someday I will become superhero I will make ppl knows who I'm.

And because Kim and I were made to beghead ourselves and becauyse are children were traumatized, she and my kids have to have a limo ride to the base too so we can keep safe, and if she needs her own home, then we have to supply that. If not then she can live with me, and our kids and her will have to be Air Force, because i want them to work. It's part of it. There's work and education and I want to set financial savings for each of them and initiate Phase 2 of Groundwork: College for the US Military.

Was in the Navy from 1980 to 1984, was in the reserves for a few years after that and I have to say, I don't recognize much from this video, dress whites, yes, the Navy music, sure, but why did the Navy start acting more like the Marines and what's with that black pants and Khaki shirt, even wearing green combat uniforms instead of dungarees, seems the Navy is trying hard to look like Marines, other videos even show Navy recruits being screamed at like the Marines do. Back in the day, we Sailors were Sailors, not soldiers or Marines, we were seafarers and we looked like it. Trying hard to look and act like Marines seems silly to me, if you wanted to look and act like a Marine, then join the Marines, the CNO that authorized these changes must have been a Navy Seal, haven't seen a seal yet that didn't identify more with the Marines than the Navy anyway!!!
