That sign is so weird, it seems like it’s just a ploy by the locals to not let people ruin the beach! That beach is so beautiful and you proved that walking that secret passage is worth it! Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to see so many beautiful beaches. Thank you for your efforts in sharing everything about U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS! Congratulations on turning 35. I wish you happiness every day and reach one million subscriptions this year! 👍🥰🙏
St. Thomas is a really nice island. However it is the most developed and “westernized” island out of the 3 main islands that makes up the USVI. St. John’s has all the nature, views, and trails. St. Croix is the more laid back island, it has some mountain ranges but you get the real Caribbean vibe there.
The same situation with the usurpation of the beaches occurs in Puerto Rico. The beaches are public, the developers do not respect the laws and regulations and the government corruptly grants permits in a corrupt manner. Developers close access and people have to walk miles to get to the beach. Hbday & keep the good work.
@@davidlapla963that’s why they didn’t bother to help on the Islands with the hurricanes that pass through. They want the locals to move stateside/mainland and redevelop the existing neighborhoods, probably into newer luxury homes or condos for the wealthy Americans. What they did to Hawaii recently and the fires.
Can you name specific properties that practice what you describe? Don’t get me wrong, I look out over Villa Montana (Shacks) which used to be cattle and mango trees, but i can still walk on/to the beach. Same with Copamarina in Guanica thats been there for decades. I can still walk on “their” beach, no problem. Do I wish my view was cattle, coconut, and mango trees? Absolutely. You are spot on about government corruption in PR. A glaring example is the round condo constructed directly on top of Playa Santa. That project reeks of corruption. As a wise radio personality once said…”follow the money.”
You missed out on St Croix the 3rd USVI. Sort of a cross between St. Thomas and St John in terms of development. Also much flatter and easier to drive around. Take a short ferry there. 2 main towns Christensted and Frederiksted
Yeah we didn’t have time, sounds great from what we have heard. We actually liked the mountainous terrain though, on Tortola it was amazing because the roads were quite high
A little wilderness but a picturesque bay in lush greenery.Chris,on your birthday,I wish you mostly health, happiness and lots of travel experiences with your beautiful wife.Enjoy life, you two!❤
Appreciate all the good footage. You both do a rad time staying positive. I lived on Maui for five years and property owners would put up the no trespassing signs just to decrease liability if someone gets hurt. They didn’t mind locals hiking on the land, but tried to reduce their risk by allowing it. Speaking of which, do the kalalau on Kauai one day. Top three hike in the world and hit me up if you want some secrets on Maui.
Check out Hull Bay sometime! Great little Cafe there and Ricky Gonzalas is a great fishing guide out of there. He will take you out to go do whatever you want too. Snorkel, spearfish, trolling, etc. There's a decent surf break out there to the left too a ways that his daughter and friends surf.
The ease of access to beaches of the British Virgin Islands vs the American Virgin Islands, may be due to British common law where the Crown owns most of the coastline, permitting broad rights of access to the foreshore
Happy Birthday Chris, sometimes you just have to make the best of a cloudy day ! Great video, saved some time for people that will be traveling there with the closed off beaches and such. I always enjoy your videos...
Happy belated birthday man! Love y’all’s channel, been following you guys since 2019 and your videos were super helpful navigating through 🇵🇷 our first time 🙏. Keep up the good work, cheers to more life and adventures!
Currently staying on St John, I've never actually had the chance to explore st thomas much, besides the taxi ride to the ferry. What is your favorite virgin island? What is your favorite caribbean country?
Happy belated Birthday Chris!! Good celebration with the lovely Carol. Keep the good work coming!! Thank you for entertain us with the great videos!! Much health and success for both!!
I believe it is time to do a video on your tips and tricks of using a GoPro and what accessories are needed. You do an amazing job with GoPro. Thank you both for the hard work. Information on what apps and creator tools you recommend also.
Yes i agree . Just got back from the USVI 🇻🇮. I found it to be kind of boring , a little uncultured, and beaches harder to access . Still beautiful! I would much rather go to any other Caribbean country or Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 .
We took one weeklong trip to St. Thomas with a day trip to St. John. After experiencing St. John we never went back to St. Thomas! That was 15 years ago.
We were in the Virgin Islands in December as well. I've been watching RU-vid videos because I miss it so much. I've been binge watching your channel since I discovered it. Carol, what products do you use on your hair. Mine is just like yours.
Happy Birthday Chris! Have you been to Mentawi? So appreciate all the great info that is so useful!! Will give St. Thomas a pass, was there years ago but not appealing with all the contstraints.
Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video this week to shows this amazing island in January of 2024❤❤❤I wish you guys safe journeys always in peace 2024❤❤❤
Happy 🎊 Birthday ! Really enjoyed your videos. I really gonna skip St Thomas and go straight to St John. St Thomas gave me the same unpleasant vibe that I got when visiting The Cayman Islands. No Caribbean soul.
The ginger beer you tried is from Bermuda. It's one of the two ingredients of the classic Bermudian drink: Dark & Stormy. The other one is Gosling Rum. I think it's sign. You need to visit Bermuda.
Chris, Happy Birthday to you today’s in great joy & peace January of 2024❤❤❤I wish you many years to come @ the aged of 35 years old in January of 2024❤❤❤
Try St thomas on May when the weather is just right and check out Magens Bay,Cocki beach ,Linquist beach and even Sapphire beach the water colors come alive then.
I lived on St. Thomas, and lived on the campus of the University of Virgin Islands, next to Brewer’s Bay. Word of advice: be careful if you hike to an isolated beach, do NOT leave anything in your car and watch your things while you’re there. Even if you are completely alone. I had three incidents: where someone ran out of the bushes and stole the backpack of someone visiting. My wallet was stolen from under my seat in the car, and literally there was nobody around for the hours I was there. Petty crime is expected- the more isolated you are. You missed the fantastic performing arts center next to Brewer’s Bay. It’s like the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles- half indoor/half outdoor. Yes, that’s the flag of the Virgin Islands! Paradise Point didn’t exist when I lived there.
Great stuff guys....thanks. Only the backround music could be changed more often and choosing some better one tthat combine with each destination better...
Well as far as the breakfast price as they say in Australia “ mate they saw you coming “ .Try Dominica and also Martinique but I did go there in 1992 hopefully neither has changed much they were both very beautiful Martinique in an arrondissement of Paris so it’s expensive if you buy things imported from France.
So nice to see more of St Thomas with you guys! I totally agree with Carol about not getting the real Caribbean vibe there. That is one thing I like about cruising- we get a sense if it is an island that we would return to. Was it the Mountain Top that you were showing in the last clip? It is the main tourist spot but it does have beautiful views and all the cheap tourist stuff plus the daiquiris 😅 Easier to rent cars and drive there (except for traffic) I would not even think about it in some of the other islands. Happy travels
Sailing a boat in USVIs and BVIs- Catamarans are very popular and make up 80% of the charter sailboats. The BVIs have 4-5 charter co's, big name ones plus smaller co's. Most catamarans have 4 cabins (charter layout), start around $9K/wk in low season and 30% more for high season (Jan-April). This is for "bareboat" (you are the captn and no provisions). You need to have considerable documented experience in sailing a boat of similar size/characteristics and or have taken certain hands on courses from sailing schools and have earn a certificate. Otherwise you will need to hire a captn at around $200/day. Most sailboats rented/chartered in USVIs- stay in USVI's as there is considerable extra expenses to sail the boats in BVIs. To sail the BVIs, much better to rent from charter co's in BVIs. There are per day per person gov't fees in BVIs. A co called seabatticals, rents in BVIs for a bit less for a week and also for 28 days for much less on a per day cost. The boats are a bit older. Best to have 2 or 3 other couples to share the cost. You might be able to crew on a private sailboat sailing in USVIs or BVIs- there are websites for boat owners looking for crews, but you need to get some experience sailing (or be a good cook) to be considered.
Sailed BVIs as a kid with parents, took tall ship cruise there 20 yrs ago. Stayed at Maho Bay Eco Resort on St John 20 yrs ago (no longer exists). I follow some Ytube cruisers who have gone to BVIs both in their own sailboats (Sailing Doodles, Sailing GBU) and charters. I considered seabatticals for 26 days on a 4 cabin cat, but required entire extended family doing staggered 1 week trips but logistics and vacations didn't work out. The cost was like $100 US per cabin per night before food/drinks ,so really affordable for BVIs. @@JumpingPlaces
Looks fun and vibrant, love to see this place first hand , it's easy to explore ,do you see a bike or scooter rental , are they even allowed. Do they speak English, that could be a little problem .looks like Hawaii .great video ,your work is appreciated.
Interesting what you think about the prices there . A huge cheese burger and fries at a local roadstall is $2 , what I pay for a 750mm beer at the sports club ! For $6 get big fish and chips or loaded chicken schnitzel :-)
