As a Haitian American, the only way we can fix this issue is to fix Haiti. The people that are fleeing the country are desperately trying to find a better living conditions by any means . Everybody wants a better life, and Haitians and africans are typically asking for a better way when they don't fight for a better way for themselves. Is what I am seeing from Haitians a sense of entitlement. Who just had an earthquake and we need refuge, money and food." It's just not with Haitians, It's with all africans, wherever they are, whatever type of situations they expect the world to stop whatever they are doing and help them. They literally want us to see them as two year olds. DR need to stop helping them until Haitians and africans start rebuilding their own countries. May none of us help them when they start helping themselves. Now the Haitians cry about gangs being there, and what I say about that is when these strong back haitian and african men start cleaning their own country and ask others like dr to help clean gangs out, and not just Dr, but other countries who have gun power, please don't send aid until all gangs are defeated. Build a few prisons before reconstruction of haiti and africa, and deposit back these black males who allow their women and children, see them as weakling and not men. No way they are considered men. Men fight for what they want. Haitians and africans show the world they are failures. Please stop sending them aid or march in the streets for them until men and women fight for their own country.

When Bahamians deported illegal Haigians, they got slight pushback but the world was relatively quiet. In Turks and Caicos, some of the people filmed themselves detaining Haitians in their vehicles and hand them over to the authorities, nobody said anything. Even in countries who supposedly have warmer ties with Haiti like Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Cuba take issue with illegal Haitian immgrants. Nobody called those countries racist, but if Dominican Republic so much as deport one illegal migrant, it turns into an international backlash. The double standards and hypocrisy is real🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

this is why people (black Americans in particular) should keep their passports on them when visiting certain countries. This isn't just an issue in the DR...given the influx of African migrants flooding into certain European countries i.e Greece,Spain, France, and Italy it's easy for a black vacationer to be confused with an African migrant.

To be honest, I’m African American and I have lots of Dominican friends. I get so tired of hearing this “Dominicans are racist” narrative or “Dominicans are self hating black people”. There is so much that people don’t understand about the history of these two countries that has created a lot of conflict which had nothing to do with race. What many people don’t know is that the Dominican side of the island was once under Haitian Occupation and this is part of what created a lot of this beef between both. But it never really had to do with race as much as it had to do with Dominicans defending their cultural and political identity. Now it is true that under Trujillo , the color divide was used to target Haitians being that it’s the most obvious difference but at its core it’s never been about race. It’s always been about the Dominican Republic looking out for the best interest of its citizens and it’s culture. It is true that racism exists in DR to some extent against darker skinned people but in reality where can you go in the world where there is no racism. Even in the black islands like Jamaica and Haiti there is a color cast where lighter and non blacks people are treated better. But there are so many black people in DR that it wouldn’t make sense for most Dominicans to be racist.

@Vivabella- I like everything you said except for two points. 1. Trujillo gave us back land that was already ours. He repatriated Haitian land back to us because we were going to raise an army and attack DR. Don't forget that DR never fired one bullet to free the island. It was the Haitians who fought, lost trillions of dollars in treasury; paid a huge Independence debt to France and the Dominicans came later and took 2/3 of the best of the part of the island. 2. There is very strong colorism in DR.. Dominicans automatically assume if your dark skinned then you are of Haitian descent and could not be an indigenous Dominican. They think they're not from West Africa and are from Spain. The Dominican mind is in love with whiteness and they think they're suffering from the Stockholm syndrome. Everything else you said is correct

And can't take care of its own citizens. People don't see it like that when it comes to latinos coming into the U.S. Some even have commented that they rather the U.S help latinos or be one country. Then see U.S take on Haitians... These are the type of statements people are mad at ... Not the fact that each country should do for its own people. Even here in Europe is drowning taking in immigrants. I believe EVERY country need to do for itself.. Europeans need to stay out of black countries because all they've done is destroy and caused people to flee. The U.S need to get out of Haiti and let Haiti do for its people. The west keep meddling in black countries prevent them to do for self. That's the problem with every black country.. The only difference in D.R is that people have allowed W Europeans to take over , If they had refused them things would been like Haiti and parts of Africa. If you denied these people they will destroy your country. Now we have to deal with KARMA here in Europe. W Europeans seems to think they're exempt from KARMA.

Also people abroad can be clickbited from media easly, specially when they don't have idea about what has been going on. All foreigners that live here have to pay x amount of money even white people(many "expats" knew recently about this tax and left that accumulate but like they come from rich countri d they don't mind to pay it) also Haitians who come here pay it...the thing is that when you don't pay you have to go back to your country. When I worked in retail I had many Haitians customers and they knew when they will be deported, they left their stuff in the store so when they come back (after paying the task to the ...I think is the military when it's supposed to be to migration but that is the topical corruption going on ..also some military officials are the ones that enter Haitians to the country). A week later the customer comes back for their stuff. The police and military treat Haitians just like they treat us Dominicans...like shit, there have been trend's demanding police to "not kill us" after various disappearings, killings and mistreatment by the police, but this only happens when people of middle to hight class are affected. Or when it is to extreme like the killing of the pastors in their cars. The police was supposed to be reformed but they have been reforming the police since ever and still we are in the same situation. What is expected people abroad will only know about the police behavior when it's part of a trend and when it's part of a narrative. I've never seen a middle class Haitian being dragged by the police here, and I have various neighbors that are Haitians. The poor are the ones that I've seen being send back to Haiti what reinforces the idea that the authorities in the border have their own "tax" that only applies to people who have certain disadvantages, mean while the ones who are more financially stable don't have any issues, other than being profiled, something that it's like their main way of acting, like many need to be better trained to the modern world ( if you are in a nice looking car they think you are rich$$$ and powerful with contacts, if you dress like poor they don't mind you if you look like middle class you look rich enought to milk cash from, but poor enough t to not have powerful contacts that can fuck them off...that's why many get fucking nervous when police stop you, specially males😬)

Nowhere in the world is that ever realistic... Yes, anti-Haitianoism is bad(not saying all Dominicans btw), but the on an immigration level the DR is NOT the USA who can handle this amount of illegal immigrants nor does the DR have social programs like the USA... There are exceptions to everything. However, what the media claims is most definitely not the rule but rather the exception. In general, the DR is very receptive, accepts with wide open arms everyone regardless of color or race and its people friendly, warm, and welcoming. It is one of the most hospitable countries in the western hemisphere. However, the issue is not racial but rather about a massive influx of undocumented nationals from a neighboring nation of impoverish people, illegally crossing the border, entering into Dominican territory who coincidentally and matter-of-factly happen to be black. The real issue here is about the violation of immigration laws, very little or nothing to do with race. This is what needs to be explained and understood by those who hastily run towards judgment and crucifixion. Let us not allow misinformation to confuse the issues and allow false accusations racism towards Haitians to spread, which is exactly what the media is pushing and repeatedly implies. There is a hidden agenda being pushed against the DR, which is why everyone must perform critical thinking, reading and listening skills, analyze the information being disseminated. Nevertheless, thanks for standing up and speaking out the truth and telling it exactly how it is.

0:50 my response to that is the 800,000 plus casualties of the US Civil War , by far the most lethal conflict that this country was apart of, I’d say that counts for the US giving a “flying F” about black people. Also, this a lesser known fact but the US gave critical naval support during the Haitian war for independence against France. That’s just a couple of many occurrences… it would be nice if Americans showed more appreciation for their own country and I’ve traveled to many, the US 🇺🇸is rather nice.

Wrong was done on both sides and its time to put that to the past. Haitians killed Dominicans and vice versa. Let the Island heal and live in peace now. Haitians never placed the DR in slavery, the Dominicans handed the keys to the Haitians in 1822 and the Haitians became greedy for power on one hand and also wanted to prevent outsiders from coming to the Island wrongfully on another. Wow! Great to see you on here, but sad this is the issue. I feel like people are being very false about all of this. First, Haitians have been rejected and deported in many countries for decades, it was happening since before you and I were alive in the US and other nations. A lot of people trash talk Haitians and don’t want them around due to stereotypes and a fear that the crime rates in Haiti will effect other nations if you have a large influx of Haitian immigrants. I can’t speak about if that is right or wrong. I know tons of well educated proud Haitian people who condemn corruption and violence and truly believe that is the majority, however most time when people are fleeing harsh conditions a lot of the bad seeds do filter in along with the ones who truly need help and assistance in order to build a better life. People calling this out as a color thing sound absolutely insane. I wouldn’t imagine that I or any of my loved ones would be detained in DR due to being brown/dark. We simply do not look Haitian, would be flying on US passports and I highly doubt they are raiding resorts to look for dark skinned people to detain and deport. The US is trying to fan the flames of colorism and global dissent with this one for reasons im yet to comprehend. I appreciate your perspective on DR giving aid to Haiti in the past because that is something I don’t know about and was curious about. All I can say is, I grew up and still spend most of my time around my Carib/Latino family and friends and there has always been a lot of stereotypical talk about keeping Haitians out from so many different people and nations. I don’t want to sound mean, but it seems there is a larger issue that need to be dealt with and it’s illogical to think that DR can handle the brunt of this.

I think you need to look into the history of missionaries used as tools to infiltrate and exploit for those who financially back them. 4) Deforestation - was the result of the French who did not overturn the crops and abused the land and people for exploitation and export of sugar cane. You cannot grow sugar cane back to back without leaching the soil of its nutrients. That was the French , not the Haitians - ONTOP of being black balled by all European powers for trade - Left to starve to death. 5) Humpback Whales (this is such a non-issue) to a group of people who can't get foot and resources - so you're more concerned about the whales than the people who eat the whales so that they can eat? Haitians praise the attacks made against French troops whose intentions were to restore slavery that was abolished in Haiti years earlier." DR never had a problem base on skin color which is why we don't have the same oppressive mindset as AA's. Funny how a country of "color" people like DR thrives faster than most that are stuck in the "White man bad" victimized state of mind, instead of bashing us yall should learn. Keep on the look out, we aren't such a growing Nation because we are racist... but because we are in Majority very Conservative, which funny enough many Successful African countries are as well. There's a reason these conservative African nations view AA's differently and do not embrace yall for the most part, they left that victimize mentality long ago and are now moving up. AA's need to get a reality check!!!

@divestedkonservativekarame4269
I don't care what Haitians got to do with black Americans you're saying you have this issue with Haitians. What that got to do with black Americans come into your Island? Honestly the kind of hurts you because I mean like if black Americans can't come to your country and they don't spend on you. Which means less Americans come to your country. I advise that hostility towards the Haitians. Not black Americans who have nothing to do with this.
@VivaBellabyXtina
@VivaBellabyXtina Год назад
The advisory was for black Americans coming into DR, but it's all tied into the issue with the Haitians. That's why they were brought up. Personally I see no issues with them going to DR, they actually do quite well there.
@divestedkonservativekarame4269
@@VivaBellabyXtina what dothe Haitians have to do with this they're not the same race. Haitians when we look at Haitians. They look very different than black Americans. You do know that black Americans are mixed just like Dominicans. Haitians tend to be more black. They're usually on average like 95% black. That's a very rare situation that a black American is 95% black. Most range within the 50-90% range like Dominicans range 15-55% range. So I don't get why the association with black Americans and Haitians
@VivaBellabyXtina
@VivaBellabyXtina Год назад
@divestedkonservativekarame4269 the U.S..government was trying to warn black Americans to be careful traveling in DR because they could "get mistaken for Haitian and deported", which is crazy, because as soon as they start speaking English or show their American passport that would be a no-go but also like you said, your average black American doesn't look like your average Haitian so it doesn't even make sense. Most people can tell a Haitian apart from a darker skinned Dominican or American.
