even this happens to me, i cry like a baby after listening to U Srinivas and when i start thinking that i cant see his live concert anymore. God you have been very unkind.
Listening to this - it is the krithi by muthuswamy dikshitar and people who know the meaning you will identify the greatness, I happened to know the meaning and combined to his eternal rendition...me eyes in tears and takes you to a trance
Beautiful rendition. It is interesting that Shri U. Srinivas renders the ragam rudrapriya as pUrNashaDjam, which as the following scale: ArO: s r2 g2 m1 n2 n2 S ava: S n2 p m1 g2 r2 s The ArOhaNam/avarOhanam of rudrapriya is as follows: ArO: s r2 g2 m1 p d2 n2 S ava: S n2 p m1 g2 r2 s The absense of d2 and inclusion two n2's in both the kriti and kalpana svarAs suggests this is perhaps a deliberate omission - nonetheless it's a beautiful kriti.
I think you are correct. Family wise speaking.. there might be some specific Ragas in the kafi branch that melodically speaking according to behaviour of melody would fit more but that doesn't matter.. it certainly has a Kafi feeling in it. Long live Swami Dikshitar.. these are pure saints that gave us all their gifts
An electric mandolin. He modified it to have 5 strings, though, so he made it work by simply slapping on a guitar headstock (which are widely available). One of the 6 machine heads is not used. And the tuning is fifth-tonic-fifth-tonic-fifth.
