My favorite clip of full metal combat that I saw is when these two guys wearing full armor sets and one of them goes “ How does the grass taste little man!” Before wacking him to the ground with his shield.😂😂
Me and some buddies saw this the other day, some arena in spain. Its wild. The one we saw however involved players being out of the match if they fell to their knees or fell over so there was a lot more grappling. Also apparently the french canadians are surprisingly good at this.
the best part is it is battle ready armor, like some of it you can get shot in and walk away. and they have a club here in oklahoma you just need to buy your armor it is fun to watch lol
I used to do it but i got hurt pretty bad after eating a dawm nanabo to the chest it put me down hard I'm 5'10 the other guy was 6'8 he slammed me I'm now I'm only seeing them fight
there's something similar i'm more familiar with HEMA i've watched a lot of channels and videos on that for years, more focused on (safety) and technique and recreating/training historical techniques, channels like Skallagrim, i suppose you could call it a mid point between re-enactment(which this guy in the video seems to conflate with LARP as the same thing, which is generally not my impression of those two things.) and buhurt. guess you could call buhurt "harcore hema" but idk. one early video i saw on this medieval mma stuff, IIRC just looked more like 2 dudes wailing on each other, as opposed to the stuff you'll see more often in HEMA (which usually goes to first hit, the armor isn't there to represent armor, it's so you don't get broken bones or bleeding.) which usually has more consideration for... it's just less "brute force slap fight rah rah rah" which was largely my impressions of the medieval mma stuff, doesn't help when the judges don't know jack. anyway, HEMA is cool too, maybe check out some stuff on that from say Modern Rogue videos, or Skallagrim, or uhh, this Sensei Seth guy has videos both on HEMA style longsword sparring, and Buhurt. one each. i feel like this comment comes off as me comin down here just to shit talk buhurt and say "check out HEMA instead. " i more just meant to give my early impressions of this medieval mma stuff and say "check out HEMA *also* " not *instead* so just wanna clear that up. ALLSO also, i suppose i should say what "HEMA" stands for, which is Historical European Martial Arts.
Every friend group needs a Russian in it. 😂 Also, as far as cost is concerned; professional child hockey leagues, the gear alone exceeds 5K$. If your kid plays any sports, their gear is stupidly expensive. I see no difference except the difference in discipline.
