@@nzrugbyleaguevidz the energy and rush you get when that guitar kicks in is incredible, especially live. I have never been to concert that could’ve even came close to the experience I had when I saw them live for the first time which was in 2002, during the Elevation tour. Only other concert I’ve seen that was equal to that experience was when I saw them in 2017, during the Joshua Tree 2017 tour.
The members of U2 are Irish Catholics. This song is about longing for peace in Northern Ireland, where through history the Catholics were discriminated against by the ruling Protestants, leading to violent clashes. In Northern Ireland the Catholics generally lived in segregated areas and so people could be identified as Catholic or Protestant depending on the street name of their residence. "Where the Streets Have No Name" is a wish for a world that would erase the labels that lead to conflict. A great and timeless song which they also memorably performed live at halftime of the Super Bowl after the 9/11 terror attacks.
Bono from a mixed Catholic and Anglican family, Edge and Adam Clayton being raised Protestant, and Larry who was born in to a strong Irish-Catholic family.
I would suggest I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Bad, Pride (In The Name of Love), Sunday Bloody Sunday, I Will Follow and All I Want Is You. All classic U2 songs from the 80’s version of the band. Check out their early 90’s stuff too though. Change in musical direction, but still great songs on my opinion.
Bullet the Blue Sky from this record is soo good! Please also react to Duran Duran Save a Prayer and INXS Need You Tonight/Mediate (don't leave off Mediate!) There are videos for both of those songs too.
Smashed that thumbs up before the vid even started!! The greatest Christian band that was disguised as a rock band.... The Three Sunrises should be next, then Grace, Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, 40, Two Hearts Beat as One, too many to list sister. Stay on this band; even if it’s not reactions, their message is True.
Other U2 songs to react to: Mysterious Ways, One, Pride, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Original Of The Species, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Magnificent, too many to list...
The goal of the album (while working with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois - both geniuses) was to create a place to inhabit. Not just songs to listen to, but landscapes created with the sound. This was the first song of the album, and it just set the tone. It's almost perfect from the first track to the last, IMO.
Check out a trip of songs from their most recent album "Songs Of Experience" "Get Our Of Your Own Way" "American Soul" "Love Is Bigger Than Anything In It's Way. In fact, listen to all three in a row. They go together.
Check out October/bullet the blue sky live in Paris, kite live slane castle and stay their acoustic version. They are the best band of all time. Amazing music and lyrics.
No one bigger in the 80's and a world class drummer. This was their reflection of the USA on a trip out west. The Fly off Actung Baby for a different vibe
Was cool watching you bob to the record... A classic rock banger! One of a handful of songs were it's not complete unless you watch the official music video... Do it as a reaction or on your own, but do it.it's special... U2 - Where the streets have no name (Official Music Video) 😉
Hello. I'm 45. U2 fan since 1989. When I discovered this song, I used to wake up at 5 o clock in the morning in order to listen to this again and again before heading to school. U2 lighted up my world.
I can relate to you I used to have to be up by 6 and waiting for my bus to school and have a listen to this song while secretly meeting a boy my parents didn’t approve of but we had a beautiful time and wonderful memories
Great reaction. I’m nobody... but if I can suggest that you react to as many “audio only” as you can. I’ve noticed many reaction channels start off this way but then maybe feel later that they need music videos to keep their uploads interesting. But I feel that more often than not ... the music videos take away from the actual music and also from the reaction. 🙏🏼 Just my humble opinion. I love seeing folks vibe out and appreciate a song without the distractions of a video.
Their concerts are a Experience. One of the few bands that I will pay hundreds of dollars to see live. In fact, it ran me $500 just to score 2 tickets for lower level seating.Worth every penny and would do again.
Wow this is your introduction to this band? There are so many incredible tunes from these guys it's unreal. Stay (faraway so close) is one of my personal favourites as well as 'a sort of homecoming' or 'Bad' trust me u will not be disappointed.
This is one great song. I would steer away from their later work because they became too commercial, especially lead singer Bono. Dig down from their earliest days. It’s so good. As far as this song, it’s on the acclaimed album “Joshua Tree”. There is not one song on there that’s not good. Look up “U2 on Tom Snider Show 06/04/1981”. This is their USA performance. They do “I Will Follow” live.
