U2 acoustic compilation rare version 

In the summer of 1992 I was at a camp with about 99 other almost high school seniors. I had heard With or Without You and Where the Streets Have No Name but wasn't a fan of any particular group. At one of the first nights at camp we gathered around the bonfire and one of the camp counselors pulled out his guitar and sang Van Dieman's Land. It blew me away. On the last night of the camp someone handed out the lyrics and all 100 of us sang Van Dieman's land while the counselor played his guitar. When I got back home I bought The Joshua Tree (thinking VDL was on it) and then learned Achtung Baby had just come out so I bought it too (thinking VDL was on it). After listening to JT and AB over and over I saw the world differently and bought all the rest of the albums - thank you U2 and thanks to the counselor with the guitar.

It was 40 years ago this month that I bought my first U2 album and there are still new recordings that keep me entertained on a cold afternoon. This is another excellent find, thanks.

But not only are they great songwriters, they are also great performers, and hearing these songs opened up to acoustic guitar and vocals shows , or rather, demonstrates another layer to the depth to their songwriting craft.
