Born in 1991, Child of the 90s and early 2000s. I had Batman Forever on VHS 📼 as a kid. Although the first live action superhero movie I saw in theaters was the first Spider-Man movie by Sam Raimi. Good times.
It is, not to mention the 'Zoo station ' riff at 00.49. This song was suposed to be on the Zooropa album, but wasn't finished i belive before the album was realesed. Imagine this song on the Zooropa tour.
only cuz i bitched about it on the other shitty version with Batman Dark Knight clips, lol. But yeah I'm totally satisfied, what's crazy is what brought me to this song again, was the last 6 seconds of this song just randomly played in my head tonight. Apparently they unlocked all the original videos from several post'ers. Even the original one posted 13 years ago is accessible now, but they weren't recently, none of them were
Not a U2 fan at all, but I absolutely love this song. It fitted the film perfectly along with Seal's Kiss from a rose. Batman Forever wasn't perfect, but it's a film I can't help but love.
Thing is, this riff is composed out of 6 notes that are chromatic (each note is directly next to each other) and it’s shouldn’t work in theory, but it sounds absolutely killer and creates the iconic mood of the song we all love!
@@HaevyGlowI don't think it's chromatic. You would hear the sharps and flats. A riff that is chromatic would be wake up by rage against the machines main riff and then Kashmir by Zep. I may be wrong.
@@123ucr Yup, everything was pretty good maybe even up until around 2007, as Obi Wan Kinobi says, "before the dark times, before the empire" ha. But I agree.

I remember requesting this video on The Box, then waiting until it was on so I could record it on VHS and watch it whenever I wanted. Those were the days.
I remember watching the music channels back in the nineties. I to used to record my favorite songs on to VHS video. It never occurred to me to ask to see a certain video in order to record it. Good one.
This song and whole album gives me goosebumps. This was back in 1995 i remember watching this movie and was very young and the most cheering part was my brother had bought Batman Forever cassette and we used to listen this in full volume with this song particularly by U2 and sadly after a month my brother died in road accident that very year.....I will never forget him or this song 💐
This was probably the first piece of promotion for Batman Forever that I ever saw. I think it was on a music chart show in the UK as an Exclusive back in early '95. I was majorly excited that this was for the third Batman film and it looked huge compared to Returns. As a Batman fan, this tune was in my head for ages and the footage really got me pumped. I was surprised when I saw the film in the Summer of '95 that a lot of scenes were in this video and not the final cut, like Bruce waking up from a nightmare, alternative takes as well as the graffiti in Harvey Dent's cell at Arkham. As I wasn't a U2 follower, I had no idea what the music video was about but the Batman Forever footage looked incredible from my point of view. One of the best nostalgic films of my childhood as I loved the hype, merchandise and style the film gave us. I'll never forget it. I so miss 1995.
I actually hated the movie and I had been watching batman since I was 4 when the first movie came out, loved it, loved returns, absolutely hated forever and batman and robin, genuinely a disappointing movie for me that year, the one upside was the soundtracks, two movies with better soundtracks than the films themselves, but i can understand the nostalgia though 100%
I remember being hugely confused by this video and by all the merchandise that had deleted scenes in it. It was like we were sold a different movie entirely, or it was supposed to be a much darker, edgier movie with simply more action scenes. It looked like we were going to get a live action movie of The Animated Series. I remember being so hyped because that TV show was massive at the time. The official sticker book which had Two Face's escape from Arkham which then wasn't in the movie at all gave the first clue that what we eventually got wasn't really what the makers actually wanted when they shot the movie. I still maintain there's a cut of Forever that would be great because there's heaps of scenes that could be re edited into something much darker. There's so many shots of cool stunts and nice imagery (there's shots of the Batmobile in this video that make it look genuinely cool) that a good editor could turn into something properly epic. Loads of unused footage, and fixing the colour grading, cutting out all of the goofy stuff except when Riddler is being crazy, and you'd have a properly solid Batman movie that felt more like an episode of The Animated Series. It's all in the edit. There's a great Batman movie in there I guarantee it. The only major mis-step that would be hard to fix would be the nipples on the costumes but even those could be editted out now quite easily. It would be like the Snyder Cut, completely different in feel but using different edits of what was shot.
You're gonna think this is funny but I was a kid when I watched this, around 16 years old, but this was the first time (due to my weekend job) that I could afford a cinema ticket on my own without asking my parents for money. I still to this day remember I bought such a tasty packet of chips (grilled steak flavour), some chocolate and a juice, and for me, this was freedom!
My mam used to give me money for my speech and language lessons I was born with a cleft palate 😊. I mitched off a lesson and watched this batman in the cinema. How powerful! Been a fan of u2 ever since.N there good
This song represents amazingly well the POV of the villain. Insane guitars, epic string section, unstable & absurd, satirical, even a bit grotesque. I love it! HA-HA-HA-HA+HA...
Not my favorite Batman movie, but this song, along with Seal's A Kiss From a Rose were incredible tunes from the Batman Forever soundtrack. But hell, I still have a soft spot for this flick
Born in 83...the good times kept going & ended on 2011 for me..the best batman was this & Batman Returns with Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman where Siouxsie & the Banshees Face 2 Face song was its theme...Lots of Nostalgia from the 90's , late80's and early 2000's 😢
My great grandmother was the only one in our family who had cable TV. I stayed every weekend over at her house I would always find myself watching this video at like two in the morning she always bought me frozen pizzas, cinnamon toast crunch, and pickles. Rest in peace great granny Jesus Christ take me back
I haven't heard this song in forever! It reminds me of back in the time MTV was still pretty good. You could sit and watch it for hours and not get bored. Because it was music 🎶

Batman Forever has such a special place in my heart!! This song was the perfect choice for that movie, and not only that, I'm not a fan of U2, but I would say it is my favourite U2 song!!
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 I'm sure they did, as I said, I'm not a U2 fan, but this song is the only one that I can relate to. Because it is not only very good, but it is a masterpiece!!
This video screams 90's and for the right reasons. It's dark with its own artistic style apart from the heady optimistic 80's. It was also during the time U2 was on point and at its best game.
@@SFO14the 1980s were a time of great optimism. The economy was roaring, new forms of musical formats were being created, and social norms and taboos were being challenged. By 1989 the hangover from that heady high started to happen.
2:52 the fact that Bono have a disease in his eyes that makes him sensitive to light and in the animation his character's glasses fall off and he can't see well 😭
@@zackzallie8735 wow mate, just wow, ngl I liked the Unforgettable Fire, few songs of other 80's ones but their 90's stuff is outstanding, that was some u-turn they did 1989-1991, completely different band and I loved that Pop album, I really never knew they had it in them, not too keen on their newer stuff just seems tame in comparison but tbf they are 60 odd, incredible band, maybe my favourite band right now, still some gems on newer albums, 'Cedars of Lebanon' is haunting, Xanax and Wine a banger, that Passengers and Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack was amazing, shame as they seemed to be experimental but left it after 2000, still, they got themselves a new fan, that No Line album the best of this era imo, all the best and thank you for not being a div like the first div, respect for that 🙏
My God...I'm hitting 43 now and I still remember that movie...in fact, I've got the Robin's haircut style after watching the movie...I used to have it as long as Bono had it in that time
I was searсhing this song for 15 years... I was a little child when i heard it in movie... I was growing and this song was in my head. When i was 20 i found it!!! I was so surprized that my best friend knew that it was U2 song))) She is a fan))) I asked her: ohhh shit... Where have you been for all this years?)))
i wish modern western animation tried to go back to this style instead of mimicking anime or make the same adult cartoon bullshit. This art style reminds me of Aeon Flux, and its perfect for a dark and troubled character like Batman.
This is the song that introduced me to U2 when I was a lad. I absolutely loved this song and video as a kid and it's definitely my favourite U2 song to this day.
Hey nerdic warrior, they are some band looking and listening back, i remember watching live aid Wembley stadium as a 12 year old and witnessing U2 arriving at the top table, hear in the uk they all go on about the overrated queen and their performance, nope it was U2's moment and they went on to superstar level, i personally saw them at my home city of Glasgow playing at my teams stadium, Celtic Park, zoo tv tour, fucking awesome 👌
When this just came out. Wauw. It was bat mania al over again everywhere you go everywhere you would look. All you wold ser was the riddler logo and the bat sign in green neon color. And the movie. ROCKED. We got our first glimps and action of the dynamic duo. Mann this sing brings me back. And tears of joy are roling down my face right now re livingg these memories in my head again
This Song was released when I was 9 years old and believe me or not, I loved it even back then. Didn't quite get it, but it had something to it. Now I am 36 years and I get the chills, everytime I listen to this song. It is magical !
Some of the riffs are taken from Smokie's "Don't Play Your Rock'n'Roll To Me" and T-Rex's "Children of the Revolution". One of the best songs of 1995, and U2's biggest Australian hit.
"Batman Forever" may not have been a great movie, but it sure had a damn good soundtrack - U2, Seal, Flaming Lips, Offspring, PJ Harvey, Mazzy Star et al.
Such a good time... I was strait ROLLING like FIRE when this song was popular... Driving in the night going into the City of Fort Worth... Ahh... the memories !
