They’ve had longevity because they write great songs.

I'm confused by the number of dislikes. Yes, the interviewer has a rather rusty voice, but he asks intelligent questions and gets some very interesting, thoughtful answers out of the band. Excellent interview, I think.

They are actually that great "at all". War, Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, All That You Can't Leave behind are generally regarded by the harshest of critics as masterpieces. Artisitic integrity? I'm sorry I don't understand you at all. U2 defined an original and extremely influential sound during the 80's when the musical climate was dire. Their catalogue of classic songs is compareable to only that of The Beatles. Those are real reasons. This kind of ignorance is why I wrote.

I absolutely agree that their song catalogue is comparable to The Beatles. Love when The Edge mentioned The Smiths and The Clash.

The thing that Bono says at the end is the best part of the interview. I think he is a nice guy.

His message at the end did grab my attention. If we're talking about great albums, The Joshua Tree is undeniable.

U2 is a great band. Listening to people like them talking about new music and how does it become less and less magical makes me think that we actually have to adapt to a change and be more careful about everything we do. Meaning is important and makes something speak for itself.

"We didn't buy into the idea that good music had to be underground." Oh the irony of this being on Pitchfork's channel.

What was the name of the band that pitch fork stole its logo from? I remember that the singer was a white kid who was very social and had long dreads. They were pretty political. Anyone know?

No, its just that Larry does not like talking and giving interviews as far as i can make out.Bono always does most of the talking.
@petarruzevic3401
@petarruzevic3401 5 лет назад
That's because Bono is a born politician. The U2, actually, consists of Bono, he is the U2. The other ones are just the additional ingredients, he's the only personality in the cake. Sorry, guys, but I like you, too, U2.@@anthonydowling3356

i dont think so. possibly its just him being exposed to living in newyork etc. I dont think that he is trying to get rid of/ or has lost his irish accent.

Now, you'll have to deal with reality just like the ,,Sisters of Mercy''...A drummerless band, a band without a drummer. Intentionally, I don't say ,,the'', because, now, after Larry died, you are the second one. But, we always adore U2, of course, always.

Like Marilyn Manson said, way back in the day of our youths, ,,First we killed our drummer, and then we ate the chicken''. They killed the chicken, instead, and then ate their drummer. Poor Larry.RIP. Love U. &2, of course.

2:47 What? According to who? You? I guess then it must be true. Let's see, we have Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Supertramp, Genesis, heck even Queen ..just to name a few prog rock bands. Who's it boring to? Boring musicians? Boring listeners? Most people in the mainstream? Hip hop listeners? Bieber listeners? Your later music is boring to me, your earlier music is exceptional to me. Have your opinions, but don't apply your god complex to them by thinking they are fact, ok mr mouth/tongue man as if you're a real intellect.
