Beautifully said. In case you haven't heard Cassandra Wilson's version; it's phenomenal. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q4mlH1lpt5g.html&ab_channel=BrianPollard
I was in my 20s losing myself in this masterpiece feeling that love can conquer all… Now I am 45 even harsh moments I decide to keep faithful with this true for me. Love can conquer all…
This was the only time I was able to hear the guitar solo evoke the sound of a soul crying and bleeding at the same time, thank you Edge and Bono for demonstrating the dying of the spirit in this cold world.
my bro died on the mean streets of vancouver last winter in a deep freeze that scared the hell out of me ---even though i didn't know at that time. i was not even able to put any sound to my pain until i listened to this!!!!! THANK God for U2
Como recuerdo esta cancion,es algo extraña pero se me ha quedado en mi memoria. Ya con 60 años que tengo aún me gusta la calidad del grupo U2. Wonderfull😊😊
Love is blindness I don't want to see Won't you wrap the night Around me? Oh my heart Love is blindness In a parked car In a crowded street You see your love Made complete Thread is ripping The knot is slipping Love is blindness Love is clockworks And cold steel Fingers too numb to feel Squeeze the handle Blow out the candle Love is blindness Love is blindness I don't want to see Won't you wrap the night Around me? Oh my love Blindness A little death Without mourning No call And no warning Baby, a dangerous idea That almost makes sense Love is drowning In a deep well All the secrets And no one to tell Take the money Honey Blindness Love is blindness I don't want to see Won't you wrap the night Around me? Oh my love Blindness
When I was growing up, my two older brothers were huge fans of this band. A few of their songs got my attention, a couple of them remain in my collection to this day. But this song pierced me in a way that nothing else U2 ever recorded, did. It's not so much the words, although I love the words in the first two verses it's more the slow and melancholy overtone of the whole song, that really spoke to the loneliness and hopelessness I was feeling at the time I first heard this song. High School voter with a death wish. Now I'm coming up on 48 years old and I have realized that the very best songs I have ever come across in my life never make the charts. They never get the respect and honor and attention they deserve.
Maybe those songs are not meant for the charts but rather for the most passionate listeners who can really feel their music. It is like a hidden gem meant only for some souls to find and explore.
Agreeing with most the comments saying this is underrated. I think musicians appreciate this song more than people looking a fun vibe. If you commented here, I compliment your taste!
I hope the band looks back on that era with pride. Achtung Baby! was - IS - just great on all fronts; music lovers will be listening to that album in perpetuity. It really is THAT good.
@@AdamBlack I agree that live version releases would be amazing but we'll have to agree to disagree on the live album versions, I maintain that they really are great.
When I was in my teens and first heard this, I wasn't too impressed by this song. However, with each passing year I appreciated it more and more. Now i'm convinced it is an underrated masterpiece.
"Fingers too numb to feel" "Won't you wrap the night Around me" "A little death Without mourning" So after reading your comment, I'll never watch Stoker's Dracula in the same way again. What a fantastic suggestion and those lyrics I've shared are bizarrely very fitting for that movie. It's a good shout my friend! Bravo.
I love you M, I have never forgotten you and you still hold a big piece of my heart, probably he biggest. This was our song, the number 12. We played it over and over again, for us... Listening to it now brings back so many memories, you would never know.
The live version in Sidney from the ZooTV tour, is more touching and heartbreaking. Bono seems to dig in the deep of his soul sided with vibrating notes coming out from the Edge's guitar. They are magic together, and I love them all ❤⭐
I can't seem to find any suitable word to describe this song. Maybe epic or astonishing... I could call it a masterpiece but that's too easy. U2 have created many masterpieces. This is not their best song imo, but certainly one of their top creations.
@@arlinehazelwood2475 I actually opened this account so i can have a little time for fans and know how some of you feel about me and the band precisely.
*ZOOTV it marked a before and after in the tours of rock bands !!! It is what they live to support themselves; today with the PANDEMIC, it is something complicated, a pity !!!*
*N'oubliez pas de donner un coup de main à l'incroyable Daniel Lanois pour son travail de production!* *Don't forget to give the amazing Daniel Lanois a big hand for his production work!*
