This song reminds me of a woman I met on a flight to London. I was only 17 and she was 43. We talked all night over the flight about life and God. She was like an angel to me. God's love Anne.
I remember my dad showing me this video when I was very young, around 5 years old. He passed away on Christmas, 2020. I'll always remember him with this song. REST FOREVER IN PEACE
30 + years gone now, it’s nothing but an audio visual artefact left behind for us to appreciate , and unpack the attitudes of the world forgotten . One but can’t help but have utmost respect for the amount of toil and hard work by the people behind it to create a audio visual artefact for us to come back to or future generations to be reminded of the world back then
I’m listening to the song in tears because of how intensely personal it is. The image at 2:59 is one of the most artistic things I’ve ever seen in a video
The father is olding the scales in his favour, at the end he steps off the scales. It's a metaphor for the old soviet system to get off the scales, which is still just as relivent today. The early 90s had so much hope, by 2000 it was dashed, now it's war.
This is the song that will be listened to for another century to come...I've been listening to U2 since I was 9 years old now I'm almost 50 and still never get tired listening to this amazing classic rock band...long live and God bless you, U2 !
@@samslick9000 some part of it, yes I think you're right. Especially when performing live. But I can understand, everybody gets old and tired. I think it's time for these old rockstars to retire, too. I'm just keeping the old memories and spirit of these songs
I used to love U2. One classic album after another. Stunning live shows. I followed them around on two tours. They fell off a cliff with No Line on the Horizon. The 360 show was horrible. It was like watching a washed up athlete. Bono has turned into a globalist turd. I keep the old memories and mementoes , but don't listen to any of their new stuff or see the concerts. I wish they would go away. They are destroying their legacy
@@baotrinhgia7505 I watched it, but I can always listen to the old music to get a good feeling. It sickens me to see them release crap now, they are destroying their legacy. Much like an athlete performing past their prime
U2 has proven that good songs don't have to have complicated sounds, just make it as simple as possible, just play it emotionally and put it in the right melody and beat. Then fantastic artwork will come out
I was on U2 koncert 1996 in Sarajevo -after war.......And that is one of beautiful day in my life.....That day it was full of sad ,hapynes, tears and smile ......
La calidad de esta gran banda no se puede poner en duda ..lo mejor de u2 gran melodía estoy seguros que muchos tenemos grandes recuerdos con esta gran canción.. sigan deleitando...nuestros oídos..gracias U2 .
Bono said the song was about division and the struggle for unity. The band was struggling when they recorded it, and that's where the line we got to carry each other.
also an unforgettable moment for me: i saw them in concert in October 2001 in NY. I was living in NY then and we were still hurting from September 11th. During this song. they scrolled the names of the victims on a large screen. it was so moving
@@jinyounglee7677 Been a Beatles fan since May 63 when I was living in Madrid Spain. They have helped me in every way possible and I was the fan club president here for a couple of years, back in the early 80's..
@@RandyR wow that is just impressive..! You have been a fan even before my parents were born! True dedication there. Any good Beatles songs you suggest?? 😀
cant help relating this evergreen song of peace 🕊️ to the current turmoils in the world ~ to all peoples suffering in ukraine, israel & palestine. we are indeed One ✌️
Now that is quite a lovely expression. You've a way with a phrase and then there is just the real meaning, the intention behind your words. Beautiful. My prayers I add to yours and my hopes for peace and unity. Happy Holidays to You!

27 años y todavia recuerdo la primera vez que la escuché, desde entonces la he escuchado miles de veces y se me sigue poniendo el vello de punta cada vez
This song saved what would be the Achtung Baby album. It was this song that woke them up from where they wanted to eventually go with the record. I'm so glad...
This song without any doubt is my favorite song ever. How does anyone not understand the pain in these lyrics? It is the song that defines me and all my failed loves. Fu...
I find this to be one of the most beautiful and pain filled songs of their cannon. Bono is speaking about the difficulty in wants and aspirations individually and collectively in life, how they don't always match, and it leaving you self tortured. It's about the relationship between close people, such as husband/wife and/or band mates .
I think that is the more deeper of the 3 version... Very emotional when all the band start to play on Hansa studio.... Masterpiece... One is not a simple song
My Mom really loved Bono. She’s been gone since 2002. This song really connects with the covid19 virus. YES YOU WILL DIE - WE WILL SURVIVE. Why? Because this is U2s best song.
I lived in the us when this album came out. I used to ride my bike to the bike track with headphones on. It looks like the song brings those memories back. Spokane, Wa. So far, so close
One of the Greatest songs ever. ONE.............never gets old......has healing power.....touching the lives of those who are suffering.... With....ONE.
In my opinion, this song is about a father's disappointment in his son. Not that he is gay, but that he did not live up to his father's expectations. Any reason the father feels disappointed is equally destructive to the child. I can feel that disappointment in my relationship with my father in this song, I'm 62 years old and when I listen to this song it still makes me cry...
Had the amazing good fortune to be living in Berlin when the wall came down. Hard to describe the emotion of that time when one considers the history that preceeded it. The look on people's faces both East and West as it dawned on them what was actually happening will always be with me. One of joy and one which no matter the circumstances given 2020/21 we should always carry with us. There is always hope.
U2 Es una banda universal, en todos los idiomas se siente lo mismo. There is something in the green hills of Ireland, that consistantly produces artistic talent. one of best songs ever made.
I have always liked way more this video than the other version. It's so deep and full of symbolisms that it always impresses me deeply. And it was filmed in Berlin, a city that was living then enormous transformations.
The imagery of the band sitting on the sofa is my favorite. They're sitting very close to each other, but there is no acknowledgement. They're close physically, yet still alone.
AllGuts NoGlory U2 aren't British. Plus U2 were already massively successful at this point. Led Zeppelin didn't dress gay or be gay and they're legends.
The news deeply broke my heart SAMUEL PATY from U2 Singers HE IS SUCH LOVING GUY WITH HIS MIRACULOUS VOICE AND INSPIRING SONGS AS FOR ME REST IN ETERNAL PEACE SAMUEL PATY GOD JESUS LOVES YOU AND IN YOU FOREVER YOUR SPIRIT YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON ALWAYS ON US FOREVER. REMEMBERERED AND WILL BE MISSED.💞💞🪴☘️🌱🌹🕊️🕊️🕊️
U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Just one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our cover of their great song Ordinary Love. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' and stay safe : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yiUkR6YUNgU.html
That is true because whatever race we are it doesn't matter but the bad news is there is a lot of racism and yes we are one and we should love each other even if it is our parents brothers sisters or any family members and friends
My father became a man in the army in Berlin in 1961. My sense of awe and wonder awakened in Berlin in 1989. My sense of being adrift in the world hit me hard in Berlin in 1991. I got my first profound glimpse at human resilience … and my first tattoo… in Berlin in 1997. My marriage ended in Berlin in 2016. This song ties all of it together.
