great video as always, Mike! ... something I wanted to mention, and maybe you already know this, but when you're auditioning the UAD plugins, if you click the power button on the GUI (instead of the "bypass" on the pro tools plugin wrapper), it's a true bypass and it has the benefit of not having that "click" of DSP memory release or audio gremlins that pop in and out from "bypass". Anyway, thanks for always having outstanding videos!! All best!

Yes, I am aware of this and just have a bad habit of using the AAX bypass. Guess I need a RAM upgrade for my brain!

I've been demoing these as well. I am so impressed. I am curious if you think that the richness that is so divine on these is a testament to more accurate modeling of analog gear? I don't quite hear this richness/depth in their LA-2A mkII models, nor do I hear the depth in their 1176 or even Fairchild mkII models. These just have a depth and richness that i've never heard before in a plugin. Are we hearing better modeling or is it just how these hardware pieces sound?

I think the analog modelling has gotten better for sure but it is also a byproduct of the sound of this unit. This is always a difficult topic to discuss because an emulation is just virtual representation of something real then placed in a completely foreign environment from it's original design. To expect the same results is practically unfair. At this point I'm more focussed on how useful a tool this is in a DAW mix rather than whether it is exactly the same as the original. That said, it feels very much like the original units that I have used and is sonically amazing the DAW realm.

Michael White I think it is the increased sense of depth that is most welcome. I hate to use cliches, especially when they can only measured by perception but I hear a 3D quality which I am responding to that has me so taken with it.

did NOT have the budget for these. demoed them for one day and then next day, i bartered for them and now i own them. couldn't be happier they are truly something i haven't hear before.

I have not heard an “in the box” compressor that compares to these units. Depth and character for days.

So the "input,Gr,output" knob is confusing to me,im sorta new at this...when gain staging it should be on GR? Not sure how this works

Really appreciate your videos and this is another great one. I love these plugins and UA just made them native. I always have a better understanding of what I have after watching you go through it.

These sound so good... I’ve been further from buying a UAD card. What do you think about the MKII model of MJUC? It is inspired by this units, and out of the 3 available models it’s probably my favourite in terms of action. Thanks for the review 🍻

I have the MJUC but have not spent much time with it. This UAD emulation seems to be a leap forward in emulation technology from everything else that I'm hearing out there.
