it is lindell 254e ..uad buy license of brainworx and plugins alliance products and resell..uad very bad company overall..they are not creating anything..just reselling with their brand

@@Alexander-mk4qf this is very false actually. they have many plugins that are incredible and top tier that are separate from brainworx. bx licenses stuff to UAD though and it is always branded with their logo.

@@Alexander-mk4qf this is not the Lindell audio 254e. That plugin is not even coded by plugin alliance, it’s Lindell Audio by Tobias Lindell. Universal Audio do not rebrand other companies plugins. They do sell Plugin Alliance and Softube plugs as well as Antares. They do not pass them off as their own work, utterly ridiculous comment.

@@Alexander-mk4qf Yes they do not sound the same. I have the 254e and are demoing the the UAD. They do sound different UAD to me sounds fatter and "warmer" and seems to bring things a little more forward. They both sound good but to my taste UAD is what I would go for.

Michael, you've been using the 2254 a lot in the form of the V-Comp. Any thoughts on how the V-Comp compares with UA's? Will you still be using the V-Comp after getting this new emulation?

The V-Comp is just an odd beast that is a great plugin even if it is not the best emulation. It's meant to emulate the original 2254 which had no threshold.

I have the 254e and are demoing the the UAD. The UAD to me sounds fatter and "warmer" and seems to bring things a little more forward. They both sound good but to my taste UAD is what I would go for.

I have the Lindell 254e but this one sounds better to me.. :/ Something about the punch of the attack and the pumping of the release is way nicer on the UAD. Also the topend and "depth" (sorry for the hype word) sound very special on the UAD, I guess that's some saturation thing..

Thank you for this awesome review! Explained perfectly. I owned a 2254 for years and this plugin really captures the vibe and sound of the hardware. Does it sound exactly like the hardware obviously no. Each of the hardware units sounded different from each other but had an overall sound and vibe. UAD has absolutely captured the vibe and character and this is my all time favorite drum compressor!

Britpressor by Analog Obsession for all of you AU/VST users. Haven't compared it to UAD but it beats Lindell 254E and IK's 33609, to my ears. Free (Patreon supported).

Thanks for the review, Mike - it's always great to hear your views, since you know the actual hardware so well! You mentioned that the 33609 is an updated version of the 2254, but they both sound distinctly different. Would you give a short description of those differences? Thanks!

Same conceptual design, many of the same components, but with modern adaptations. It is much more responsive like the SSL Buss compressor, but with the warmth of the 2254.

if you are still looking to buy it, go on their website and choose a UAD custom Bundle. If you pick the first option you pay $50 less for this plugin and also get to choose any other plugin on of your choice.
