Hi, thanks so much for watching - you’re very welcome! Yes, Sun City Studios is quite remarkable isn’t it. I really have only scratched the surface in this video. It really doesn’t surprise me that it’s taken UA the best part of two years to create this plug-in. So pleased you found it helpful. Have a great weekend.👍 all the best, Matt
Loved the idea of "adding the bass player to the same space". I have a question though. Did you use the same plugin settings you were using in the ambience drum bus? Even the "reverb" option?
Hi Carlos, thanks so much for watching and I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! Yes, when I blended in the bass guitar, I was using exactly the same room send that I had used for the drums. So I tend to create a drum room / ambient space for the drums first, and then use that room to blend in other instruments, essentially putting them in the same space. I will typically use other types of Reverb as well in a mix - and sometimes in particular add a spring Reverb to the snare drum (in addition to the drum room). Once you’ve got the drum room set up - there is nothing to stoping you experimenting and gently blending in some of the Guitars and other instruments. I hope that helps and thanks again so much for watching. Have a great week, Matt. 👍
I can’t figure out how to use the remic mode. Except the guitar cab. Otherwise it is too much room sound, and I can’t mix the original close mic in which will cause side effects. So, like in this video, I too end using it as a reverb plugin.
Hi, you can decrease the amount of Room1/2 and/or increase the Close at the same time. You as well have the option to move Room mics closer to the source in the interface. You can get room to taste with this strategy and, at least to my ears, it sounds better than using the reverb mode, especially if you are re-micing with multiple instances across different busses (I usually have one instance for drums, one for bass, one for other instruments ina single bus, one for the lead vocals and one for the back vocals)
I have three Apollos. It is weird that I cant buy a Sound City plugin for them, and keep the CPU off my old Mac. Having my recording computer online via UA Connect, does not work for me.
Hi, thanks so much for watching, yes Sound city really does rock! You’re not the 1st to mention it CPU usage, but who knows maybe this will be improved in future updates? Thanks again and have a great week! Matt
Hi - thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment - I really appreciate it! Yes - I totally agree with your comment. The main focus of the video is how to implement the plugin in Luna, and then take people through the two different modes and how / when to use them. This plugin is so powerful, I should definitely make a follow up going into the more advanced features. Thanks again, and have a great weekend! Matt
Another top tips video Matt, really enjoying your series using Luna. I've not used Luna to mix yet but will try on my next project. I did use the Sun City Studios plugin on a very recent single release by my band. SSS used on the DI'd electric violin and EZDrummer kit - I've added a link below if you'd care for a listen. Hi @justfontaineband - thanks so much for watching and I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the videos and finding them helpful. That’s very kind of you to send the link to your music - have a listen now! Have a lovely weekend Matt
I've just listened now - 3 times in a row. What a beautiful song. If anyone is reading this - please give this a listen and a like. 👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wE9L819iuqk.html
Hi Michael - thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment. I must admit that I’ve only been experimenting with the sound effects recently. I’m on the fence about using them - so that’s really helpful to know. My aim certainly isn’t to annoy anyone! Thanks again, Matt 👍
