It's ALL about politics. Any union contract can be nullified with the stroke of a legislative pen. Benefits that were bargained in good faith can go away if people get voted into positions that hold sway over laws or courts. "Right to Work" is an example. Health and Safety laws (having clean water provided at work) are more examples.

Trump broke trade agreements getting our oil from Saudi Arabia. Not to mention refinery workers in Texas were laid off because we couldn't buy oil that cheap. Now China and India have stock piled oil 2 years in a row creating a shortage. Congress passed legislation forcing Trump to follow our trade agreements. Also Scott scoffield some big shot in Texas oil went to meet opec and the Saudis to raise oil prices to make back some money lost during covid. There was a Congressional hearing about it and 40 republican Congress people wrote letters trying shut down the hearing. Trump has destabilized Europe and the middle east.

Trump is another greedy billionaire boss who laughs when he fires workers. That's why most union members voted against Trump in both 2016 and 2020. It's also why Trump lost Michigan in 2020, and he will again in 2024.
Been there and done that. Prefer a union but they shouldn’t speak for the members politically. No place for politics in the workplace but since everyone feels the need to tell everyone who they are endorsing then maybe members should vote on who that endorsement goes to. Not bought and paid for by greedy politicians lining union officials pockets for endorsement and political tactics.

@@keepinitrealzI don't want to get rid of unions, but at the same time, if the union isn't doing its job, workers should be free to decide whether or not to pay dues. They shouldn't have to go find a new job; rather, the union leadership needs to step their game up, do a better job, and make people want to join and feel value from paying dues. Are you really for the workers if you want to force them to do things instead of giving them the choice? Put the onus on the union that runs itself like a corporation, not the workers who are just trying to feed their families.
How are the Big 3 jobs cuts coming along? Before the contracts were even signed the writing was on the wall. So far about 5,050 workers have been laid off since the ink has dried. Labor costs are passed on to consumers in the price tag, and the majority of consumers don't want to pay 2 years wages for an American vehicle when similar alternatives are available at 2/3 the price. Fain was warned about job losses and now it's happening. Go figure. I was an AFL/CIO shop steward. I'm pro-union, but there's a point where too much ask is too much.

Being a union member isn't something I identify as, or allow to become my personality. Being a union member is just something that comes along with this job; I pay dues for a service they're supposed to provide, that's it. The union isn't a church or some cult to be worshipped. At the end of the day, I need my country to run properly, to run as a country ought to run. While I don't like or agree with everything Trump says or does, I think he did a decent job the first time around. Trump is clearly more experienced and more competent to run the country than some two-bit diversity hire whose foray into politics began when she slept with the then-married mayor of San Francisco and was given a position with the city as a form of hush payment.

I worked as pipefitter alongside Union pipefitters,...at least where I was working, they were some of the slowest workers I have ever seen,..and they made more money than I did. They don't need more money, they need to learn how to work harder.
