Uber driver shot by passenger who believed she was being kidnapped 

Lock her up for life, she's not competent enough to own a firearm or be on the streets

This guy has probably worked hard his entire life and never complained and this is how his story ends? So senseless and infuriating. Bless his family.

Had this woman bothered to check the routes to her destination before getting into the Uber, she would have realized she was in no danger. I’m so very sorry for Mr. Garcia’s family, what a terrible loss.

Yes, occasionally there can be something wrong about the driver, but the same can also be said of the passengers, as was true in this case. If you are that distrustful of strangers, then drive yourself, or get someone you know to drive you, or use public transportation. This man should not be dead. This is so crazy! She didn't even check the route. If she had checked the Uber app, she would've clearly seen that the casino was less than a mile from the border. This man died so violently and senselessly. She never called for help or 911 after she shot him. She called her boyfriend. I mean, this is so sad. This man was providing for his family.

The fact that she did not care to call authorities, and sent a picture of the wound to her boyfriend immediately after murdering this man proves to me that this was more than just about fearing for her life.

Don't carry a gun if you don't have the emotional intelligence.

I have a lot of respect for the rideshare workers. Such a gamble to not know who youre picking up with each ride. I would be paranoid picking up random people in my car all day.

I took an Uber the other day and the guy driving took a completely different route. I got kinda nervous but spoke up and said excuse me where r u going, and he told me that the other way was super backed up. I checked on Waze myself to see if there was a back up and he was correct. If he took that way, we wld have been waiting forever to get home. If your really worried just txt the emergency line in the app or contact someone. What this women did to this driver is murder and she should be held accountable.

If I thought I was being kidnapped in an Uber, not tied down or gagged or anything, I'd try to throw open the car door or subtly dial 911 on my phone, maybe even appeal to my kidnapper and plead to be let go. I'd also have checked both the route and destination before climbing into a stranger's car just to be certain we're heading in the proper direction. Daniel Garcia did everything right, but his life was needlessly taken by a delusional, trigger happy psycho who needs to be LOCKED UP FOR LIFE!!

Also, I want to say, driving into Mexico, they would have had to have gone through the check point and Mexican police always question the Americans with Mexicans t make sure they aren’t being kidnapped. I had that happen more than once inside Mexico while with my Mexican husband and in-laws.

I’m a Uber Driver now for the last 6 years quit prior to Covid year and resume a year after covid. My very first time I was nervous starting but after a day I realize it was very nice people and met wonderful people. After awhile you learn the best times to work and when not to and what areas to avoid and not be in to be alerted for pick ups. Also I have a large suv and normally just only pick up xl riders and hardly ever just standard x. The cities I work is New Orleans and Baton Rouge biggest crime cities according to news. I also have dash cameras that records outside video and inside video as safety for me. I used to do Lyft pickup but I seen the different types of riders and quit shortly after. I’ve learned people willing to pay more for a ride are typically well behave and treat you better. To this man and his family, may he rest in peace and they find the strength to overcome this awful tragedy. To the murderer, I hope you serve a life sentence behind bars to think about the innocent life you decided to take. If you didn’t feel safe you could of call 911 or press the emergency button on the app for help. To Uber, Really…..? Deactivate the rider account….? Like that’s going to solve this tragedy! You could of left that part out of the statement. Smh!!!! How about all the money y’all are making from us drivers, use some and support this family!
