My Uberti 1873 came with amazing tiger striped wood from the factory. The fit and finish is second to none. Uberti makes wonderful guns and cheaper than the Japanese made Winchesters.
I bought a Navy Arms imported Uberti WInchester 1873 special sorting model, full length octagonal barrel in .44-40, and it's a work of art. Uberti makes such finely finished rifles and pistols that your rarely see them sold on the used gun market. People just keep them.
I have a Winchester 1873 ( Japanese made these days ) and it’s a beauty and smooth as silk. I also have a Uberti 1866 in .38 special, and it’s a beauty and a great shooter as well. Both are wonderful reproductions and you can’t go wrong with either one. Lever action rifles are just the bomb!!!!!
any issues with the uberti ..gunsmiths say the parts are really soft lots of issues with firing pins and such . also noticing lots of parts stores for them online ???
Ended up getting the 20 inch sporter with the straight stocks and in 45 Colt from Taylor's and Company. Smoothest, most enjoyable rifle I've ever shot!
I'm not sure. Remington, Marlin, and Smith & Wesson released revolvers in 44-40 at about the same time. It was a good round. Probably the .357 Magnum of its day.
Nice rifle, but I prefer Henry for their customer service, quality parts and trigger. Uberti would be second though! They have the nicest case hardened receivers!

@@blackriflesmatter7683 you are incorect sir. The 1866 yellowboy did in fact originally fire a 44 rimfire cartridge, like the Earlier Henry's. However, both the yellowboy and 1873 Winchester had the exact same mechanisms. The only difference is in the 1873 Winchester used a steel frame instead of bronze frame to handle the more powerful 44-40 cartridge. The 1866 also had a wooden fore grip on the barrel. You're confussing it with the earlier Henry rifles.
I don't understand any demand for rifles in .45 Colt. I assume buyers are into the Colt revolvers and/or that "cowboy action" shooting, but then why would you not just get a rifle/revolver pair in .44/40? It would be more historically accurate, and probably function more reliably in the rifle because of the slightly bottlenecked shape plus the much more substantial rim.
These guns were never used by the US Army who actually went out and "won the west". Ironically these guns historically were used more often by native warriors to fight AGAINST winning the west. Lol
Originally, it was used to differentiate it from the also popular .45 Schofield, which had a shorter case but could still be loaded into .45 LC revolvers.
I believe they say 45 long colt means 45 colt Rifle because 45 long ammo is longer than regular 45 ammo but if they say 45 colt they think they mean 911 handgun

Why on earth would they use modern guns when there are already competitions that use modern guns? Do you also use leaves, corn husks, or fur for toilet paper? Do you also bathe once in a blue moon?
