The entire thing was more or less a fabrication that caught on overtime likely because of post-war fascination with Japanese culture. A channel called Aniki does a great hour-long video on this. On a similar note, and I am not defending AC nor Ubisoft, but why does no one feel that Ghost of Tsushima was a disservice to the actual people involved in the invasion of Tsushima? There was no Jin Sakai, and the island, and its royal family were well and truly decimated. Yet the game never even mentions the real stories of those who suffered.

Japan is one of the rare instances which had historically some strong female figures which also did fight and stuff - like Tomoe (you can look it up)... plus if you look at japanese games, like you know them making their own games, and they tend, even in historical (inspired) games also to implement strong female characters (and if you now try to pull the feminist card on japan than you're pretty disingenous on this) .

But here’s the thing it’s called having a healthy debt something that can be paid off with liquid assets at the ready a company worth 10 billion for example would have 1 billion dollars in debt. I mean a tori gate looks like a tori gate. It doesn't matter if AC made a half-destroyed tori gate that looks different than the iconic one. The thing is that tori gate is Iconic. It shows a lack of sensitivity when they're already blowing up and "appropriating" Japanese culture and then use an Iconic image like this where Japan was literally blown up. Ubisoft should have offered a sincere explanation at the Tokyo Game Show. If they had no guilty facts. DEI omits the Japanese, defines Asia as being discriminated against and doesn't matter, and Political Connect is designed to disguise the arrogance of certain people. Because they never truly support blacks, and they persecute whites who have a conscience. The uniqueness of the Japanese is not recognized, our history and culture are not worth respecting, and there is no need to recognize intellectual property such as copyright. For us Japanese, the message from the video game AC Shadows is just that.

The cascade failure of this game/company is nothing short of staggering. Compare tis debacle to how Sucker Punch went about Ghost of Tsushima. They took their time, did meticulous research, double checked their sources and went to Tsushima island itself for the real deal. They wound up with a game that Japanese and western players were floored by, with how good it was. With such an example to go by, how did Ubisoft fail as hard as this? Deliberate decisions were made one after another to screw up this hard. Heads at the top need to roll with no golden parachute to catch them after.

I'll give the developers and designers a bit of a pass, because whoever is advising them really does seem to be either incompetent or sabotaging them. Like, okay, sure, Yasuke is probably a choice based on DEI, but getting so many minor things just flat out wrong, their historical experts are proving laughably inadequate. It's giving me the same feeling as those sign language interpreters who are making very strange gestures and later turn out not to be able to sign at all.

Delaying it won't do any good, Ubisoft already disrespected Japan and it's culture, cats literally out of the bag.. Western companies trying really hard to ruin Japans culture, western gamers love Japanese games because they are Japanese and usually not infected with DEI crap, sadly we have too many Japanese companies following the DEI crap no one wants and then they wonder why their games are failing, why not make Japanese games again like people actually want. Same with Anime it's being westernized instead of staying Japanese and it's ruining them. Japan needs to fight against all of this culture ruining crap..

To be honest, i sincerely hope they don't cancel or delay the game, I hope they just straight up go for the hard way like they always did, ignoring everything and doing what they believe. Then we watching their stock falling nonstop and ultimately the whole company crumbling is the best ending for them

a few months ago, I was sure an AC title couldn't fail : the slop was just exactly good enough for most normies (the bulk of buyers) to continue buying. And now...they just can't stop catching Ls. To a point even the normies are afraid !

I don’t think someone saw the half torii gate and chose that as the design for this collector’s item. I’m sure it was a budget issue with that item and they decided to cut the torii gate in half to reduce costs, also maybe the size of a full torii gate with 2 characters all sharing the same baseplate might crowd it a bit haha
