While on the island, the team film the installation of the weather station in blizzard conditions, while unintentionally recording a couple of civilians in the background casually walking in 2 inches of snow.
Absolute.. It was the U-537, a type IX, that put the station in Martin Bay, waay up on the Labrador coast in 1943....It wasn't untill a German naval historian inquired , and not till the Coast Guard set out and found it in 1982, that they knew it was even there!!
I recommend watching the movie Bear Island [1979] starring Donald Sutherland. Based on the good book Bear Island is a thriller novel by Scottish author Alistair MacLean. A really good movie and a good plot.
As always, a fun vid to watch. Glad to be subscribed. But, tea and medals after sinking two neutral American ships, roughly 8 months before Pearl Harbor??? 😉
There is a war on, and if those Yanks are silly enough to join a convoy in a war zone, they deserve everything they get! Well that's what Herr Hitler would say! 🤭 Sending vital supplies to a belligerent nation is an act of war. And in the second attack, the ships sunk were flying the Red Ensign, so they were legitimate targets.
Seen quite a few uboat vids,,looks great fun but not once have i seen the uboats on any videos(not just this youtuber) be under attack it seems way too easy. Would love to see a uboat under attack and how it plays out
hey taff great vid i know cuz of the update you lost u-96 but i have a story idea for it. on your way back to base you came under attack by enemy aircraft in the bay of Biscay due to the u-bout needing to have surfaced for air you could not dive down instead taking evasive action you manage to avoid being sunk but still receiving heavy damage limping back to base you wait for the verdict on the sub only for the repairmen to say that the sub is damage beyond repair and as a result you were transferred to u-552 to continue your adventure on and under the high seas
