I think he feels the international recruit experiment was a big disappointment last year, so he’s learned his lesson and hitting the transfer portal hard now. We got Juzang and Lazar the last few years who have panned out well, so he’s going back to what was working before.

Cronin's building a tough squad via this portal thing! However he needs to learn two words in Spanish: "!Brazos arriba! At 7'3" Mara needs to get his ARMS UP and keep them up! Watching Walton play in the glory days, he made himself taller/bigger by doing this and he took up more space. Mara will look 10' tall and make himself more ready for rebounds and blocks... Go Bruins, always!

The international roster didn't work as we hoped but I think the players they had were just too young and inexperienced. I think players like Berke and Mata have a high ceiling and can still develop into big contributors in the future. The transfer portal is a great way to improve "overnight".

I hope Mara stays. He showed improvement. Put 15 pounds on him, work hard on the footwork and physicality and he’s going to be a factor.

Stop. Cronin HAS To use the portal. Cronin has turned UCLA into Cincinnati west. An avg to above avg team at times that isn't going to win anything big. They need to be top 1 or 2 in recruiting, not in the portal. They have one recruit so far for next season. UCLA is ranked 82n'd in recruiting right now for next year. Clark scores 13 points a game and does little else, Johnson avg 10 points and 4 rebs a game and is a nice player but not great. Bilodeau is a nice player but wasn't wanted by many big teams. UCLA can't shoot, cronin can't coach half court offense and this is going to be at best a top 25 team. Cronin has turned UCLA into a good mid major team.
