Thanks for that Dan. High compliments coming from you. Simple stuff, as long as you can find the pieces, but breaking everything into sections was something I struggled with for a long time.
This is great that’s exactly my issue with my bobtail ud 1400. I wished your shop was close by to droop off my truck to you there, thanks a lot great video! I am first timer watching and I found exactly what I needed thanks to you! Adan from San Francisco SFO AREA!!!
What do you call KNOWLEDGEABLE and SUBSTANTIAL the answer is Science of Diagnostics Sharing what you know thank you very much helpful video tutorial amazing 👍 God bless you Science of Diagnostics From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧
Dang! That was a heck a job! Truly awesome work there! All components had to be hunted down... and in this heat, no easy task. Love the walk through Chris!
Thanks for watching Cuba. I knew I should have talked you into the job.😉 The heat is fine until you are hot AND frustrated that you can't find a silly starter relay 🤦♂️🤦♂️.
@@ScienceOfDiagnostics you know, you're spot on.... if I'm immersed in a job, hunger, cold, heat, etc don't affect me as much. Lol 😅 Great working through it... or stepping away for a bit helps too. 😊😊😊
So what your saying is....the other ones all suck? 🤣 Seriously though, much appreciated PJ, I never know what's going to be beneficial to viewers but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.🤷♂️
Thank you Hakim, I'm glad you enjoyed it. My organization level all depends on the job and the day. I have a strange way of organizing my thoughts and if I'm having a bad day I even draw arrows to keep myself straight.
@@ScienceOfDiagnostics Maaaann Bad days is hard to keep the thoughts straight i know exactly what you mean. i noticed the arrows too. If i have a car thats kicking my ass. i will put voltages and or check marks at each point that i checked on the diagram. i like the arrows, im going to use that.
Gees way to make something so complicated so understandable. You should do a video and learning to better understand electric schematics. Just a suggestion but keep up the great work!
I'll keep that in mind but until then, check out some of Jorge Menchu's articles in the subject at AESwave. www.aeswave.com/Wiring-Diagram-Color-Coding-35.html
Great diagnostics video. Any idea where I can get an electrical schematic? I have a similar issue with a 1998 UD 1800 Manual Tranny but intermittent no start. Ignition switch seems good, no 12V to the starter relay coil - when it does not start. When it works it starts immediately - anywhere from 1 to 30 attempts (key turns) before it goes. There must be a component (or multiple) between the ignition switch and starter relay on the manual transmission truck - the schematic you show has the manual tranny info scribbled out (rats!).
So Chris how did you find that damn relay, since they didn't give you accurate location? I'm just curious, because working on that stuff and finding information has got to be challenging??? Awesome video BTW!
I just kept looking around for something that looked like a big relay 🤣. Finding information can be a giant pain at times, there are subs available for most HD manufacturers, but equipment has no right to repair yet.
having the same problem with my 2012 ud 2000 and im actually broke down at a gas station right now how crazy is that! exact problem i have lights and i hear a click but no crank , it just cut out mid crank after fueling up and now it wont turn over im going to try the ground wire like in the video how can get a hold of one of those tester kits to jump the ground from the battery ? or do you know another way im hoping thats the problem instead of a starter it wasn't showing any signs of weak start please help!
Have any experience with durastar 4300 with maxxforce engines. My engine sensors circuits are are acting nuts. Intermittently the engine sensor parameters cut in out from healthy realistic numbers to parameter numbers that make no sense whatsoever. I found the aluminum foil shielding is rotten away and is coated with blue gunk in some burn Mark's I found. Theres no actually burnt wires but the wire foil shielding seems to be disintegrating. Could this shielding being be whats interfering with my other sensors? This truck has been to 4 other shops and nobody has been able to fix it. International wants like 1500 usda for the sensor harnesses loom so I'm being really hesitant looking for expert opinions
The shielding keeps EMI out of the signal wires, so that would definitely be a problem there. There are other potential issues, but I'd fix what is a known problem before continuing. Next step is to find a good trustworthy mechanic to either guide you or do the work. Electrical is very hard to diagnose over the internet.
@@ScienceOfDiagnostics this is what I want to specialize in. Theres a niche for it here ,in Detroit. Thanks for the quick response I enjoy your videos and feel the age of the part changers are over in the mechanic field and I'm trying to rapidly evolve
