What's really sad is how many resources (books, furnishings, etc.) were WASTED when the building was abandoned. Makes no sense at all not to move those things on to people who might have used/enjoyed them. In their minds, I suppose it was easier just to let them rot away with the building.....
This place looks like it went abandoned in stages. Some of the offices look like a more recent abandon 10-12 years, but other parts like the lab and where that old drill press were, look like abandoned decades ago. Amazing no graffiti or vandalism, must be very protected or remote. All the draws have been riffled through so there was evidence of some treasure hunting. The poor dog, must have been a miserable existence and death. Maybe ran away from home, abandoned by owner and dropped off nearby, or just lost. Interesting it picked the stairs to die, probably due to damp rained on floors with puddles. stairs were the driest spot as this place looks like it can take on water. Great video!
Can you imagine the money they would have gotten by selling the old stoves, chairs, etc and the old books which could have helped support the new college. Wonder what some of those books were?
During explorations, can you find products that might have dates on them and read them off? It gives some perspective as to when the area was last used. For example, those trophies may have had dates on them. I did see '03' on one of them, luckily, but I can't be too sure. EDIT: Thanks for reading the date on that '1987' trophy. Try some of the papers or cans!
Cool and very creepy too. If someone wanted to they could live in there for quite a while without being bothered. Great find! I was a little surprised to see no graffiti all over the place.
BackyardExploration your walking in a building that has black mold everything, hope you have a thing on to protect yourself, I'm watching your video now and its getting disgusting, seeing all that black mold, its making me sad just watching it.
Great find. You can tell that this used to be several really beautiful buildings once, with lots of nice tall windows, and beautiful doors and woodwork. Was that theatre on the second floor?
You explored this on my birthday :3 I go on explorations, too. Have yet to find something this cool, nor have I a reliable camera to document it, but MAN! This was cool :) thanks for the footage
Eddie Bostero Most of the places I go, you just can't do that. It would be giving away too much information and everybody and their mom would find out where it was located. All of the valuable items in this building would be stolen in a second.
+BackyardExploration telling us a little history of the place wouldn't hurt.. 90% of these people watching these video's wouldn't even go there, they just want to know the name of the place and how did it end up like that, the curiosity is overwhelming! Plus I think if you did that it would help bring you more subscribers because only a couple of explorers who are on RU-vid do that.
At the end, the pages were moving by only one book and the other books on the floor didn't seem to move.. that was creepy.. not to mention the lighted exit sign was on.
matt nichols Emergency exit signs run on batteries in case of a fire and all electricity to the building is out. That way you can see where the exits are and make it out of the building safely
the exit signs don't draw that much power, i run a store and we havent replaced the batteries in our exit signs in about 8 years, so they don't have to be strong batteries.
+Eric H I've installed these signs, the batteries only last 45 minutes to an hour when the power goes out, then the batteries are dead. Yes, they're for emergencies, for the immediate aftermath of a power outage but they will NOT run for as long as that building has been abandoned. There absolutely 100% HAS to be power ran to them for them to still be on.
at 13:30 looks like there would be standing people on the top floor to me at first... But just were a painting on the wall ^^" I began to see other people everywhere after your "i think i am not alone in here", kinda spooky >.
I've been there, but did not come with a flashlight and was afraid to enter beyond the copy machine, lol... Creeper out!!! This college is right on a main road, and the lawn remains manicured!!! Also, the new college (or at least the currently functioning college) is RIGHT across the road, which o thought was strange...
Have you ever been walking around a place like this and there is someone in there with you. You didnt know about? Or have you ever been to worried after hearing a sound come from some place with in the buildin?
Sad though I get America seems to be a throw away society, with little maintenance and just use it till it's about to fall down rather than repair it & keep it going....
+Bert Skidmore That's a metaphor for American society. *OLD?!?!?!* Throw it away and get a newer, more-compact version!!!!! To HELL with history.... SMH... what a pitiful state our world has become when our appliances are smart and our people are dumb....
Can't understand why there is so much (once) very useful stuff left behind. Also there are just so many abandoned buildings in the USA (I don't live there) and I would love to know the history of them and why they came to abandoned.
Guys this guy is Sooo underrated get him more subs by sharing this video with your friends, dude your awsome for doing these videos👍 keep up the good work.
Daniel Stiffler I didn't say anything about "weapons". I wrote "some kind of protection". I don't think it's illegal to carry a can of pepper spray with you?
Seeing such places, I am often tempted to try and find who owns these places and see if they would allow me to scavenge materials. Something like an old growth wood window sill can be worth a decent amount if it has aged well. Craft-men, though who like to make things like myself are always on the look out for old wood that has aged. I could work out a percent of profit deal from them or something, ha.
I find it disturbing that a college would leave behind so much paperwork. I hope that none of that contained personal information. Also weird that they would just up and leave without clearing everything else out.
Hey the vids are very good but I would like it if in every building that you go to that had an elevator, press the button to see if it still works but keep up the good work.
at 15:38 of the video as u can see the pages of the book were flipping so if u didn't opened that book and the pages were flipping that book would of be there at the end of the page unless SOMEONE BEEN THERE
Loved it. Good job! You are braver than I am. That place was falling in on itself. Dude, I hope you carry a weapon to defend yourself if you come across some freaks whacked out on meth or something. At least use the buddy system lol.
It really weirded me out that at 1:55 and other parts of the video that exit sign was still lit considering everything else is decrepit.....wonder why the power is still on....I'd be scared of a future fire or something. VERY CREEPY.
+Marla McDonald (ETERNALTOAST) There's an abandoned high school in town untouched since 2008 and the exit signs are still lit after all these years. I wonder what kind of battery those things run on. I've got to get me some of those.
You're unfortunately absolutely right-that particular, highly possible scenario had slipped my mind. If such was the case, then I hope what goes around, comes around.
miah022 110 years, the founder was actually born a slave. It's a pretty prominent college, I wish I could post more information... but you know how that goes.
man its just like every1 want bye bye. what i dont get is y would they leave all that stuff behide? & y leave the power on. . i bet kids go there 2 have fun. & that dog most of died right there. i wounder if thats some1's missing dog! seeing this is sad!
