You're confused about what this speaker is for. The strap isn't for hanging the speaker it's for strapping to a bike or backpack for active transit commuters. The UE 2 isn't just distinct in its range and volume, it can be paired with an additional speaker so that my friend and I can both play my music in unison. This is specifically useful if you're riding, running, or even beaching in groups. The range and sound amplification are practical for use at home and outdoors but isn't supposed to get the whole cookout lit by itself; that's why it pairs. This speaker isn't for parties. Mine got run over by a car on a highway and still works great. 10/10 when you're using it right.
The cord on the back can also be used to put on other things instead of hooks or stuff you have to put around the loop. With the included hook for putting the cord away you can rap the cord around something and then attach it back to the hook for a new way to put it up on something. It works perfectly for putting it on the handle bars on a bike and it not moving anywhere, also great for putting it onto a backpack strap when you are walking or hiking and you don't want it to hang down from the back of it from a hook.
Btw if you press both buttons it pauses/plays, press both twice skips, press both three times and it skips back. Just so you know cause you said you wanted more buttons lol.
