@rremnar
@rremnar 3 года назад
@@bradleymcwilliams3139 Eventually they will have to.develop something similar for VR. VR is already a "thing" and I am hoping it gets better. The current problem is that you have to render VR to 3 ports. 2 for the headset and 1 for the monitor. So I sort of understand how this new rendering technology would not support VR at the moment.
@Dante02d12
@Dante02d12 3 года назад
@@rremnar I'm pretty sure the monitor is just a mirror of one of the VR screens, so no, you don't render it three times, "only" twice ^^. Some games do, like Elite:Dangerous, but that's because of the VR implementation in their engine. The real issue is "light syncing" between the two eyes. The lighting system has to be tweaked to work with stereoscopic view. Performance is also a major issue, of course. But I really hope they will make it...

@Mark_5150 3 года назад
There is no replacement for raytraced renderings, yet, if you want photoreal. This demo looks nice unless you were to compare it side-by-side with a non-realtime engine. However, if you want to freely move around, or quickly render out animation, this is the solution for you.
@tahagungor9968
@tahagungor9968 3 года назад
@@Mark_5150 nahh, almost there. It has couple bounces instead of thousands, after 3-4 bounces theres no difference to human eye, except when your using two mirrors looking eachother or something. The probes used on Nvidias rtxgi branch of ue4 can be adjusted as you like and as you get more probes its almost practically the same thing as path tracing. And one more thing, ue also has its built in path tracing and works straight out of box, no need for any adjustments nothing, basically can be used as ground truth, its physically based and from my experience at the office theres not a real difference i can tell as someone doing 3d as an architect since a decade, so i have my eyes pretty trained and i cant tell the difference between lumen and path tracing, maybe some light leaking and stuff that will be fixed on the new version. Honestly i think that people who invested years in physically based rendering engines dont want to admit they lost their advantage to real time. Its there, even if not, i know the technical side but the difference is not visible to the human eye anymore
