Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to figure out how to make jumps look less like spiderman and more like an actual human being. I know a lot of it is down to the animation. But I can't find anything on how to jump across something from a standing stop. Jumping across ditches or puddles is a pretty basic move that nobody seems to cover. I'm just learning, working towards a survival/horror type of game. And a big part of immersing players into the world is going to be making the character move like people move. Any tips?
Interesting question. I would try using 2 collision boxes. I would place one box at the start of the area and the 2nd box at the end. When the character enters the 1st box I would use a delay and then activate the desired jump animation, teleport the character to the second box. I hope this helps. Keep working on that game sounds cool. Thanks for watching the video.
@UnrealMadeEasy Found a node "launch character" that does half the job. You need to get world rotation, negate the yaw axis, then plug that in. Set the launch angle and velocity. It does exactly what it says, treats the character like a projectile. Probably meant for explosions. But it still isn't quite right. Just like the regular jumps, once you get to the apex it basically drops with no forward speed. Can't figure out how to get it to maintain speed like you expect people to do.
