This is what everyone was worried about with Croatia, they were too old to keep up and it looks like it might be true. I feel so bad for them. I am not Croatian at all but I would have loved to see them go far or even win once before the golden generation was completely gone. I'm glad Germany is doing better than I predicted originally (I'm German) so that's something to be happy about!

Credit to Serbia for responding well in the 2nd half against England but I don't think its necessarily fair to say that they were particularly close to scoring. If you look at the shot map they only had 1 shot from inside the box the whole game and that was the sloppy giveaway by Trent which fell to Mitrovic around the 20th minute

Denmark imo were the better side against Slovenia. They had control of possession, but were just poor defensively as well as not being clinical upfront. Slovenia's goal was a bit of a lucky one since it was a big deflection which Schmeichel definitely would have saved if it didn't deflect. England weren't really impressive against Serbia, so therefore I think England-Denmark could go either way. Either a narrow 1-0 win for either side or a 1-1 draw, maybe even a 2-1 win for either side.

Finally someone that saw the Belgium-Slovakia game who doesn't think Lukaku put on a disasterclass. The internet heavily exaggerates it. Lukaku missed that first chance, but he had almost no time to place it as he had 2 defenders on him and one defender was about to kick the ball away. 2nd chance he got a push which fucked up his control. In the 2nd half he played very well even I'd say, created chances, "scored" twice, though one offside, but one because of something that he had no control over. The internet just gets a massive boner and every time Lukaku has the ball, and the ball doesn't end up immediately in the net, someone will clip it and laugh at Lukaku at this point. Even his game against Croatia at the world cup, you can't blame him too much, the guy was injured for a while, rushed back from injury, his match sharpness was low, but before Lukaku got subbed on, there was no life in Belgium.

I would say Greece beating Portugal was the biggest upset in recent history. I understand that statistics don’t agree with me, on paper it’s Slovakia beating Belgium, but considering what that match was worth at Euro 2004, it’s definitely the one in my opinion. Speaking of Greece, they were 1 kick in a penalty shootout away from qualifying into Portugal’s group instead of Georgia. Would have been awesome to see a 2004 rematch 20 years later! Also Greece vs Turkey would’ve been interesting given their history… PLUS, my mother is from Portugal, my father was from Greece, and my wife is Turkish, which means my 2 son’s, (born in Canada) background is Portuguese, Greek and Turkish! Would have been an incredible experience to see them all in the same group!
