Injuries have kept him out of the Octagon for more than a year. After an intense fight camp, the reigning featherweight champ is returning to make his fourth UFC® title defense where he faces his toughest opponent yet, Frankie Edgar. But Aldo has a secret weapon in his training camp: none other than former Edgar opponent Gray Maynard. We catch up with Aldo and his trainers at a conditioning session at Flamengo Beach, Rio de Janeiro. Man, I used to really hate Gray because of his style, but his fights against Edgar and Guida, and his attitude after those fights, turned me into a huge fan. He has my eternal respect and will root for him in most any fight now.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. I think we could be looking back at this fight as a possible fight of 2013. With that said, I have to go with New Jerseys' own Frankie Edgar.

-Superficial damage was clear so Edgar wasn't intact. Judges don't score who has a bigger heart or mental things. -Aldo's legs were intact during the fight because he was able to throw devastating kicks, catch Edgar with solid jabs many times, defend from takedowns every time, and change angles frequently till the end of the 5th round. -If you don't agree, talk to the official judges because I am not a judge.

And about what people have being saying about Gray... he is not saying this just because he wants Frankie to loose. You can see in his interview when he first joined Nova União that it was a big wake up call for him. He seemed really shocked with the level of the training there. Gray was somewhat in awe of Aldo back then.

I don't see Aldo knocking Edgar out, but i see him picking Edgar from start to finish with his explosive and accurate striking, and remember Aldo also has devastating leg kicks, he's gonna chop Frankie's legs.

Aldo is an AWESOME champion. A gentleman, humble and all round top bloke. Thing is so is Edgar. Its one of those fights where its hard to know who ya really want to cheer for as they both posses the qualities fans love. If I went into the fight HAVING to bet on someone, its hard not to bet on Aldo. BUT, never bet against Edgar :D This is a superfight more than the PSG/Silva/Jones thing. This for me is the real deal. Good luck to them both

Aldo is on another level. Edgar so far did the best against him, but I think both fighters could have did better in that fight. I do not see Aldo being dethroned by anyone any time soon.

Aldo's striking is at K-1 level. You know you're fucking unstoppable when you have two-time K-1 MAX Champion Andy Souwer training your striking. Most other fighters in MMA slack on their striking.

Aldo has some of the most devastating leg kicks in ufc right now!!! and if he can utilize those powerful leg kicks a lot more in this super fight effectively, he will easily win by Decision, and why i say that is cause Edgar's movements and speed for a LW are marvelous, imagine when he fights in a lower weight class like FW, how his speed gonna be?? he's gonna be like FLASH!!! so Aldo needs to utilize his leg kicks more to slow Edgar down. Aldo by early TKO or Decision

Yeah Souwer is a kickboxing legend. A lot of MMA fighters have nobodie/under qualified people as striking coaches. I think it shows as the level of striking overall in MMA is quite low.

I think Gray Maynard is still a little bitter over the fact that He couldn't get it done against Edgars. Franky is a guy you can't ever count out of a fight! He def beat Gray and a lot of people think He pulled out the victory over Benson Henderson but got "robbed" by the judges... I am pulling for him against Aldo so it will make thing interesting in the featherweight division. If He (Edgars) wins then Aldo will have to fight a couple of guys to work his way back up. Shake things up a bit!

Not taking anything from Aldo but what really swings the odds towards Aldo is that Edgar is fighting for the first time in the UFC at this weight class. So there is some kind of uncertainty about his physical abilities at this weight.

It only takes about 6 clean Aldo kicks to edgar's leg and the fight is almost over that will open up the aldos offense. Even if Frankie catches his legs kicks witch he's excellent at. it will be a long day for him.

Yes anything is possible but knocking someone out while holding a leg is highly improbable. There's a difference between "catching a leg and knocking someone out" and "catching a leg, staggering someone and then G&P'ing for the W". Anyway, nice chatting with you. It will definitely be an awesome fight, I think!

BIG fan of Aldo! I respect Edgar, the guys got HUGE heart but Aldo is a special talent! At 155 Edgar used his speed to outpoint fighters, I'd say Aldo is faster and is MUCH more dangerous on the feet and he has great TD defence, I'd say he'll chop at Edgar's legs early to take away his movement and impede his takedown. Aldo by TKO!
