I remember watching Glover get knocked out by Rumble and thinking, this is this guys last fight. No chance he ever makes any waves past this moment. Tony was doing a lot of weird stuff just for weirdness' sake. Jiri looks unorthodox but he's actually following traditional methods that are, in some cases, centuries old. I like how he manages to incorporate traditional martial arts into modern MMA and I think he's a lot more pragmatic than Tony.

Him beating Cutelaba, Krylov, Anthony Smith, Blachowiz and Thiago Santos already proved he was in his second prime. But beating Jiri would be icing on the cake. But Jiri is extremely dangerous. His fight against Reyes was just amazing. I hope it won't be a fast KO but a real war.

@@Nick_Tank Yeah, the natural was something else, I think he was almost 45 when he regained the HW title. Outside the UFC I love what Cro Cop did. Ending his career on a ten fight winning streak, becoming Rizin champion and fighting on a very high level until 45 as well. You see it more often in the heavier weightclasses because power goes last, and those older guys have so much experience. Hendo, Mark Hunt, Overeem, DC and Arlovski are all examples of fighters who could still compete at a very high level when already past 40. Really looking forward to Glover vs Jiri, I like them both but hope Glover wins. Jiri has all the time in the world to become champ.

@@nederlands6744 Aren’t you a little biased coming from the Netherlands? But I have to agree that he’s a legend in kickboxing, MMA and eating horse meat. One of my all time favorite fighters is also from the Netherlands and I think he is the MOST UNDERRATED fighter in MMA history: Gegard Mousasi. I think he is the best active middleweight in the world. He was riding a 5 fight winning streak against top 10 contenders and was next in line for a title shot in the UFC. Yet they didn’t want to pay him and let him go. Just insane. Gegard can give anyone problems. Dude knocked out Mark Hunt, he can go from MW to HW. Just a ridiculous talent, and very funny guy as well.

I think Glover will win this with his wrestling but nonetheless Jiri will have other chances to win it as he has lots of passion for the sport and will learn from it

Jiri will definatly have the natural reach advantage, but with Glovers tucked in stance and Jiri's wide stance it will reflect even more. Glover will need to try to get on the inside and take the fight to the ground. That will, I think, be his best way to win the fight and a very likely scenario. Standing, although Glover is a powerhouse, he is hittable, and Jiri doesnt need much to KO dudes stiff.

Rewatch the Jan fight and see how Glover lifted Jan and owned him on the ground. Glover wins relatively easily and this will be a huge growing fight for Jiri.

Every fight begins on the feet, and while Glover is no slouch in the striking, I wonder if Jiri's unorthodox and creative strikes will catch him before the fight can even go to the ground. We shall see. I'm rooting for Glover but not confident he can beat this young killer.
