How can you be questioning his matial arts background while the dude's a former taekwondo olympian medalist? You took the time to search the records of his competition and speculate whether he has talent or not rather than find footage of his taekwondo fights to see if the dude was game or not?.. this is just mediocre work, please do your research if you wanna be a MMA media
@@BetSlamWithSam but there's no narrative being pushed besides the fact that it is heavyweight (lack of talent) and he finished his fights in the first, if you think his record is padded don't ever look into the Dagestanis because you'll have a stroke 😂 have a good day
@@BetSlamWithSamYa your narrative. If Robellis loses I would be absolutely surprised. -500 surprised. My cuban friene / co-worker - never watches MMA and he was prideful of Robelis. He isn’t a fraud. Anything can happen but the chances are low.
Ill be back when robelis kos parisian in the first round. just so you know, you have to defect cuba and leave your family and homeland to go pro, thats why hes older, just like romero was. simple google search couldve cleared that up for you. furthermore, a 3-0 guy fighting a 1-0 guy is entirely normal early on peoples careers, many boxers and mma fighters fight a long list of cans before getting real tests. he has had 4 fights, and won all of them by first round ko, for you to call that a fraud is just beyond me. You don't get a olympic medal as a fraud.
His Olympic medal is in Taekwondo pal. Also absolutely the bet is him to Ko Parisian they couldn’t have possibly given him an easier match up for his Debut
@@BetSlamWithSam Your a dummy...A cuban taekwando athlete who train at the highest level lol...Taekwondo comes in good use for mma especially heavyweight...I got Robellis at minus 310 and put down the juice to win a g...Ill come back and discredit your narrow mined views.
@@BetSlamWithSam I don't get the logic with calling him a fraud. He is unproven to those who actually knows MMA. He has credentials in Taekwondo sure but have we ever seen anyone with decent takedown ability put him down? Gane was also great at his sport. But he folded easily to strong wrestlers or just anyone who knew a thing or two about wrestling in general. I get the hype. He is very tall, has the longest reach in UFC history at this point apparently, and has nothing but KO's on his MMA record but this is easy to look into with a bit of research. Are you considering him a fraud because UFC is trying to hype him up? Isn't it logical as a fighting business to do so with a new up and comer padded record or not? Yea, they are basically throwing Parisian to a wolf supposedly and this does happen quite a lot especially in the UFC for a debut fight but why should we call the guy a fraud because of that? He hasn't even had the chance yet to prove himself against elite competition. I think the real problem here is the misuse of the word "fraud." Say he is unproven. Say he is still a novice in true MMA. Say he is untested. There are plenty of more accurate words to describe the man rather than just calling him a fraud.
Brother I appreciate everybody’s opinion that’s just mine if you are looking for further insight into my mindset I dropped a video on my pick in the fight and I chose Robellis and explained my concerns for him moving forward. Thanks for a reasonable response
1. Despaigne (just like any other Cuban fighter) is a late arrival because of the super complex political situation of Cuba, which prevents him from having a normal transition. 2. He doesn't choose his opponents. 3. He is a decorated martial artist with Olympic medals and 20+ years of competition in different sports. Bottom line: win or lose in the UFC, calling him a "fraud" and providing such superficial "arguments" is really poor work on your part, to put it nicely.
No pretenderás que su primeras peleas sean contra los campeones de su categoría. Y además desde Cuba no se llega a la UFC joven. Mira el caso de Yoel Romero.
Not saying he shouldn't have fought better fighters before getting to the UFC, that's absolutely true. Just saying the age isn't necessarily an indicator.
Dc made his pro debut at age 30 not 35 that’s 5 massive years also being a dominant wrestler at that weight class is much greater than having a taekwondo background BUT I’m eager to see what this large gentleman has to offer and I’m excited for a new person to hope makes it through to the title picture
You sound like one of those couch Warriors that wish they had got picked up by the UFC they probably picked him up because he was a short notice opponent who actually won
Man stuck to his opinion with casuals coming after because he beat parisian lol like who is literally bottom of the barrel competition literally was finished by parker porter and called everything down to a tee someone who actually know s what they are saying and doesn't just buy into hype because the ufc says so
@BetSlamWithSam 💯 ppl just fall for the ufc false hype mainly casuals whenever ufc decides to promote guys like paddy and robellis casuals will eat up the promotion
Yeah sure let's not bet on a 6'7 heavyweight olympic TKD gold metalist with the longest reach in UFC ever who also happens to build sturdily like Francis Ngannou when he's fighting a journeyman.. Do better brother. He stopped competing professionally (actually "amateurally") in TKD from 2012 but what if he spent the last 12 years mastering his crafts in MMA striking, BJJ and wrestling? You never know. Don't make a preliminary claims on fraudulant record like this, I think Despaigne will surprise you when he gets the gold.
Every single comment disagrees with you. Yet you will stick to your opinion. You may consider yourself a strong willed person due to that, but the reality is your most likely the fool
appreciate the feedback only a weak tree bends to the winds around it. I also picked him to win in my fight breakdown and bet on him so maybe check that out next time king.
He is a legit striker, you can see that in his brief time in the cage but that will only take you so far. If he’s an Olympian, you have to think that he’s aware of how he needs to evolve.
I think in any combat sport if your destroying your opponents in seconds you should be given better competition yet 3 times he was given fighters without wins seems irresponsible I’m not doubting the dudes potential more so the absurd match making leading up to this. I will be picking him vs Josh Parisian
It seems to me that underestimating an Olympic-level taekwondo athlete in that way is a tremendous mistake. A person who knows what hard training is, with years of experience in the sport, coming from Cuba, should always be treated with caution, and they should never be underestimated. It's like if a wrestler like Mijain Lopez (4-time Olympic champion) were to come, and you tell me he's going to lose because he doesn't know how to strike or kick; no, the guy will annihilate you.
I want to see Robellis is a fairly matched fight so far he is being fed easy match ups that’s my whole point he needs to fight somebody better. Appreciate the response.
@@BetSlamWithSam I see your point but, It's like a monster truck entering a derby; in the end, it doesn't care who it's up against. It's indifferent; its plan is to crush everyone. In the end, time will have the final word.
@@BetSlamWithSam I've seen these same doubts cleared in other cases. I remember, for example, the issue of baseball, in the first World Baseball Classic with Cuba. Comments like, "They are not professionals," and so on, were common, and in the end, they finished as runners-up. The same has happened with Cuban boxers; people underestimate them. For instance, with David Morrel and the great Aidos Yerbossynuly, who said he hadn't seen any good Cubans as professionals, and look how it turned out. Similar things were said about Aroldis Chapman, and he proved to be a beast. I could mention an endless list of Cubans who were underestimated. And I want to emphasize that it's not that I am Cuban and hyping them up; it's just that history speaks for itself. One must be cautious with Cubans in sports because, whether professionals or not, they have shown they believe in themselves. Just ask Yoel Romero.
He’s 35 years old and only 4 fights into an MMA career because he already had a career in taekwondo. He won the Olympic bronze medal in 2012. He has won other medals in taekwondo in various other competitions. I’m not saying his record isn’t very suspect, just that he’s already had a taekwondo career.
4-0 ! I wouldn't call that a padded record, if he was 9-0 or more...ok, He's a novice, Parisyan is a big step up but he is tough as shoe leather. Despaigne is not a fraud, he's a big question mark! If Parisyan makes it through the first round it will get interesting, but my guess is he WONT!
I think you're going to regret the pick. He was an olympian in taekwondo in his prior years. I'm betting on Robelis but maybe you're right. His knockout abilities with the taekwondo seems pretty lethal but being 35 is worrysome.
Brother I’m betting on him I just think it’s crazy they would continually put him against 0-0 opponents and if anything dangerous for his opponents but if his opponent was anything better than Josh Parisian I might take a swing on them. Appreciate the response
bruh no shit he's gonna have opponents with those records as hes starting his career. They're not gonna throw him massive and hugely skilled opponents when he's just starting...@@BetSlamWithSam
No idea how he got in the big show already when he hasn't really been tested yet. However, he's a big guy with a high-level striking background. A lot times guys get fast tracked to the big shows because of their accomplishments in other sports like Brock Lesnar. This guy is an Olympic bronze medalist too. I have to watch his Taekwondo matches to see what he really looked like back then, but I know that's a huge accomplishment. Also, guys that dedicate themselves to one combat sport don't typically come over to MMA until they've had hundreds of matches so they're normally older when the make the transition because it is so much to learn. I'm curious to see how he holds up in his next few fights. Great job with the rant and thanks for sharing! ~ London
Appreciate the comprehensive breakdown he destroyed Josh Parisian but I could probably do that coming off the couch so not much to be said there. He has a huge frame but I’d love to see him tested in his MMA skills there was no grappling or wresting showcased so yet to see what he has to offer if he can’t win within seconds
@@BetSlamWithSam Yes sir! And I wonder what his endurance will look like when he has to get up off of his back over and over again or fight off the take down. Lol!
Still have the same questions I did going in to that fight didn’t show me anything and if you think it did then it just shows you didn’t pay attention to anything I said.
Some people will come along bashing you because he beat Parisian, BTW I predicted he would beat Parisian also. However I disagree with the hype he is getting, it's like people are pretending he is already the second coming of Francis Ngannou or something. If we look at the Parisian fight, he actually got tagged a few times and was in a little trouble in fact. That fight told me that this guy won't get to the top of the division, unless the UFC seriously cherry pick his opponents. A part of me also feels like a takedown guy would beat him, someone like Blaydes etc. It is true he is getting up there in age for an MMA fighter, so there probably isn't time to mess around giving him nobodies to fight, they should make him fight someone like Rozenstruik or Pavlovich next. BTW those are also matches he has a chance in at least, since those guys are strikers, I feel they are better strikers than Robellis, however I feel he has natural gifts above them as well (so he has a chance). I think a guy like Tom would take him down and submit him very quickly though, however we will just have to wait and see. He is an interesting addition to the UFC.
Thank god somebody who sees what I’m talking about haha! He has a tougher match up booked against Waldo Cortes Acosta that I’m going to be doing a video on and that will show us where he is at in a closer sense as he is proven to beat some heavyweights so far.
It will be just be blaydes vs lewis again or rosenstruck vs ngannou. This dude is the real deal, I doubt he will have he's hands down again. He was just playing with he's food trust
most of khabibs first fights in mma were against 0-0 opponents aswell, not correlating the 2 fighters but i think a lot of these guys have padded records.
Regarding age, that is not relevant for Cuban athletes, especially in the heavyweight categories. Genetics play a significant role, and I myself am almost 50 years old (having only briefly trained in Judo in my youth, not even at an elite level), and I appear to be 30 years old. He debuted at that age because he had no other option due to political issues, as is always the case with Cubans.
He was a bronze medalist in the olympics. I have a very recent cuban immigrant co-worker / friend and he knew about him. Never watched a UFC fight in his life. Prideful of him and then we talked about Romero and this other Judoka I forget the name of.
That’s cool man the olympics was 12 years ago. Im excited to see Robellis he’s new blood I wish he had some opponents that weren’t all 0-0 fighters with zero skills.
Of course there taking care of this guy they see money with him bro he alex pirrea got 2 belts in 10 mma fight remember and don't forget about brock lesner
Another thing, UFC acted fast and that's good before him being snatched by PFL, what has UFC got to lose.?I say he starts at a bit above avarage pay 50k given his credentials, no biggie if he loses first few and be done with it, but what if ufc was right? IMO he can steer the waters, big question is how he performs vs wrestlers...
@@jonnylast1 that’s my point exactly he’s incredibly raw am I excited to see him fight hell yeah brother do I think everyone should slam there money on somebody unproven no I do not.
Big bucks not, but I've been waiting for the line on fight ending under a minute, it should pay well,, small wager, we won't get a chance like this next if he'll be quick about it this time
Here is the common sense about it: olympian or not, you want him to be official right? Well officially you fight people with the same record as you, him being 0-0 in a amateur origin fight? YEAH NO BRAINER HES GONNA FIGHT PEOPLE AT THAT LEVEL. WHY DO YOU THINK HE WENT TO THE UFC, HE WAS LITERALLY VAPORIZING THAT LEVEL OF COMPETITION.CONSIDER IT A SAFETY MEASURE AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP THAT HE IS IN THE UFC AND NOT HARMING BEGINNERS UNTIL DANA DECIDES. HMMMMM IM DANA WHITE, ASK HIM TO SIGN TO SOMEONE ELSE TO PROVE IT TO ME OR PICK HIM UP AND GAMBLE THAT IT IS BETTER TO HAVE HIM BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES DUHHHHHHHHHHH
Yeah I do feel that, the main point of the video was to illuminate how poor his competition has been so far and to speak to how the ufc is feeding him the most winnable match up for his Debut
I picked Robellis to win in my picks video but only due to Josh Parisian still unclear what Robellis overall game will look like hopefully they match him up against a better fighter and we get to see some wrinkles in his game.
