Khabib is not the only reason Islam doesnt get his due. Khabib didnt get his due either from other than his fans. A lot of people dislike them due to culture, country and because they beat their favourite fighters. I mean islam has beaten 3 fan favourites in Oliviera, Volk and now Dustin
True but he has 20+lbs on Volk, who is not in his weight class and the real Charles did not even show up for their fight. Dustin is his first legit top 5 victory and he struggled to get it.
@@nottoday4265 Thanks for proving my point. Volk weighed the same Or more as Makhachev the first fight. The “real” slim shady didnt show up is what literally anyone who loses says. I guess the real Charles didnt show up against Arman either. Wonder Where he is? Islam struggled to get it because he is not as dominant as Khabib. But last time I checked he is on thr longest win streak in LW ever.
Fact is that that's the way how the make money. Thanks that you do your job. They do this because of money and nothing else. If they didn't it at that time, they have to get up early to do the reaction or they don't get the vievs they want. Do you thank people too who realy do important jobs or do you write the comment just for likes, so as them
Islam is truly so well rounded and only getting better at striking. He doesn't get the love he deserves only due to his culture and where he's from. He is going to be a problem for just about anyone no matter the weight class.
Islam did the same Russian tie snap as the one on Chase but on the legs, phenomenal! Also, Islam did an amazing job tying Dustins right leg so Dustin couldnt get any space to move to get out of the D'arce
Islam has to fight all these guys AFTER they’ve been able to study the Dagestan style. Each win that Islam racks up is exponentially tougher than when Khabib did…
I was wondering the same. Was the fight so tough Bcuz Makhachev didn't perform at his best or Was Poirier at his best that night? To me it looked like something was missing in Islam. He looked a lil stiff and slow@@Eagle20mids
Even my wife was watching the DP Islam fight it was so exciting. After the Sean snooze fest we needed a banger. To watch Dustin fight Islam all busted up and turn up the volume in the 5th. Wow. Much respect.
@@happyjemini costa looks so 1 dimensional in his striking. Had no way to find his range and constant on the backfoot. Didn’t expect costa to look so bad.
Even when Usman comes to the UFC and runs through the lightweight division with his kicks, they will say oh be a man and stop kicking like a girl or some rubbish. People in the US have a serious issue with the Dagestani's in general, they use the wrestling as an excuse but it will happen with Usman as well - its like a deep resentment of how good they are, who they are and where they are from.
@@keyboardwarrior6591 Yes. Everyone who actually watches his fights knew that something was a bit off but at least he wasn't dehydrated like the first Volk fight. Just a little weaker than usual but still showed his skills in every discipline.
You guys are morons, whenever Islam gets a tough fight he's on antibiotics and not healthy. If he choked Dustin in the first round he's a special talent what a pity? Good job guys
@@peopleschoice1457 Was it a title fight?! Denise was ranked 12# !🤣 "...35+ fighters in ! TITLE FIGHTS ! at 170 and under are 1-23, 155 and under 0-15! Update: 0-16" I'm not crying I'm just stating a fact.
ISLAM MANAGED TO BEAT PORIER WITH STAPH INFECTION if you dont know Staph infection spread on touch so you must need antibiotics which makes you very weak, tired and slow. His main weapons are clinch and kicks which he always use but in this fight he was'nt able to use his main weapons. Islam is built different.
He had to rely heavily on technique and heart this fight, but he got it done. Can't ask for more from a champion, and Dustin was as good a challenger as you'll find.
Islam is a Swiss Army knife. 7th different finish in last 7 fights. Who did/does that? He's got it all. Great night. Until I listened to Dana meat ride Jon Jones post fight. What a total dick move!
he tried to sell jones vs stipe fight so hard, but he also knew people are against it so hard and he kinda feel the pressure right now so he shits on islam in order to elevate jones, but he also kinda asking permission to islam to did it by giving him 2 bonuses lol
Yeah pretty funny , Dana's talking All FACTS all the truth he said ... Another thing no one knows who the hell Khabib even fought for his first 20 or more fights lol . He's no GOAT in my opinion , he won the belt from a number 11th ranked fighter ... Al is a bad man hell of a fighter but Khabib is far from the goat .... Islam is definitely the second best pound for pound in the world ....
John is right. Islam will always face comparisons to khabib. It's probably one of the big reasons why Islam wants that welterweight title to distinguish himself.

@@caly6063yeah. Heard that. We'll never know how much that affected him but the average fan won't care. Even without staff it's still a great performance in my opinion. The finish was really classy but he stood and traded with what looked a much improved Dustin.

@@timmit-s4dif anything that answer would make u think he did actually have staph infection if u have half a brain. If he didn’t have it a simple no would’ve sufficed instead of “it doesn’t matter”
Josh is discounting the P4P Champ, even after he outstruck Dustin (An elite Striker) by a wide margin. And was controlling this fight on the ground. He clearly fought with Staph, so it did compromise his cardio. This fight showed Makhachev’s character People need to stop comparing Islam to Khabib. They are two Different fighters, and Islam isn’t a Khabib 2.0, he’s his own fighter. They have different stances, different fighting styles, and Islam is much more well rounded counter-fighter, while Khabib has more of a pressure wrestling approach. In any Case, both are great in their own right. Josh ur being pessimistic bruh
can't agreed more brother..Islam is Islam and I love his style..more exciting and he's still evolving and become better after every fight..and that's scarier 👊👑💯🔥🐐
He has a reason, he trained with him in the gym and seen his skills and potential, And he probably thinks that he should perform way better in the cage.

I've watched other live streams and did not enjoy them. I thought Josh did a very good job with his live stream last night. I would watch again! Thank you, Josh.
This comment of yours 100% proves you are a casual. Poirier was hungrier and consequentially more dangerous in this fight than in the Khabib fight. Plus, he learned from the Khabib fight. So NO, this fight does NOT prove Khabib was better than Islam.
@@mikehansen7610 i dont think so. dustin give more in this fight compared to khabib fight. this is his last chance you can see he fought his heart out
I was impressed with Islam stand up which I believe he won. However it always felt that Dustin had the more dangerous stand up and he proved his grappling was super legit. Hats off to Dustin, great fighter!
for all Dustin fans, we were so close. Much respect to dustin, your a warrior and thanks for getting me into watching MMA years ago. You are a legend, belt or no belt. Your still one of the greatest lightweights to ever walk the face of this earth. Thanks for all the insane memories
@@farleymarly2575 how is it the same when Conor got WRECKED the entire fight on the feet and the ground, got knocked down by the grappler when HE was the striker and got choked out.......but Dustin won most exchanges on the feet, had Islam tired, damn near went to decision and defended the hell out of every grapple and submission attempt until the very end? Not even close to the same type of fights and Islam isn't near Khabibs level. So explain wth you're talking about when it makes zero sense.
The reason it looked so competitive was because this was maybe Dustin last shot at the title, and that gave him energy to be like nah I'm gonna keep trying no matter what, and it showed

Islam is going to move up in about 1-2 fights, and that will leave another chance for Dustin. He'll need 2 good wins, but the division is still there for him.
I think Islam could have finished him on the feet earlier if he woulda let his weapons go. But I guess that’s what makes it MMA. Islam didn’t want to extend his combos and give Dustin a chance and Dustin didn’t want to extend his because of the takedown threat.
As a 15 yr hardcore fan that has never been to a gym ( call me a casual I guess), Islam gets respect. 1) He just doesn't excite fans (until the fight w Dustin) 2) Lives in Khabib's shadow. But man, that fight with Dustin, what a fighter. He stood on his feet against arguably the best striker in the 155 division and went toe to toe and maybe even out struck him. Went through adversity and came out on top. He gained tons of fans yesterday. He turned boos into applauses.
20:35 horrible devils advocate, the gleison tibau fight was Khabib's 2nd fight in the UFC, tibau was roided out of his mind, and Khabib hadn't levelled up by being at AKA for a decent time. We are talking about, look at both fighters when they're at the top, not take their early fights.
Sir, I always listen to you both before i sleep.. it feels like i were lying beside you, listening to two nice guy talking about mma.. with honest opinion, keep the good job, hope this channel grow.. Warm hello from far east, Indonesia..🤝
Islam did not look filled out. He was suffering from weight cut and Staph. There is a video in russian of Islam confirming this. Either way he still won. P4P king islam 🔥
Agreed, I'm surprised they said he looked good. Compared to how he looked in Volk 2 or vs. Charles for instance he looked drained and compromised. I'm honestly so impressed he snatched that sub with how weathered he looked in the 5th.
I saw that! I didn’t know they were fans of each other, that’s super cool. I figured trump would be of Khabib cause he loves ufc fighters/fights but didn’t know it was vice versa.
@@SunFlowerBabyyy Khabib is a true patriot. Did you watch his video with Pat Bet David? Khabib filled that arena. Khabib doesn’t like this woke agenda. He’s not a fan of liberals.
Makhachev and Strickland seemingly get punished by the judges for their opponent’s “doing better”. I had Islam up 4-0 or 3-1 and Strickland 5-0 or 4-1.
If Dustin decides to retire thank you for the sensational career and never cracking under pressure to give us some of the most exciting fights in the history of the sport 💎 Islam remains a problem 👀. Although khabib mayve been more dominant on the ground. I think islam is better all around, and more dangerous because of it.. his striking is vastly underrated, and what allows him to use that underrated striking is when you hesitate anticipating the take down, he out strikes you, your distance and timing is all off due to the hesitation. Then when you think he’s striking and go to exchange he changes levels and takes you down. 🤌 And happens to be extremely good in both areas. For him to outbox Dustin was crazy and shows, he can kick, he can box, obviously he can grapple. He’s a problem 💀
Poirier's probleme is that he doesn't control the octagon, he gets backed up against the cage and doesn't use his kick in his combinations. Makhachev also doesn't know how to apply his full skillset, and i still think that he was physically diminished by staph effects (i took antibiotics 2 weeks before a triathlon contest, and it wrecked me)
@@zoheir1162 well said and accurate. I’d agree. And if in fact he was on antibiotics, you’re right it zaps tf out of your energy and can make you all around feel like shit. Islam is a problem, he’s dangerous.. and agreed seems to one be getting better. Dustin unfortunately other than the Conor fights has seemed to come up short in big fights. But he’s still one of the best to ever do it, and can compete with anybody at lightweight. He seemed off to me agaisnt Islam, my assumption is it was due to the threat of the take down messing with his timing and making him hesitant allowing Islam to kind of dictate most of the fight and get off a little cleaner/lead the dance so to speak. Big respect to both men. That match up needed to happen at some point. Hope doesn’t retire but if he does, legendary career. There’s no one else with a resume like his, aside from Max Holloway, dude has fought everybody.
@@combatsportsculture6469 i think that poirier looked uncomfortable because makhachev is a counter striker, he had the same problem with mcgregor until he started to kick him, unlike makhachev who had the ability to catch his leg and take him down, also makhachev showed the ability to dip his head down which made poirier miss big shorts while frustrating him with the jab and counter lefts. im not surprised by Poirier overall, he always brings it and make it fun to watch, i keep getting surprised by Makhachev who everytime shows a new skill. Props to both of them for saving the card, poirier is absolute legend, and makhachev is an absolute force.
Just because he landed more doesn’t mean Dustin didn’t land harder shots, that’s all he’s saying we all know Islam was winning and got it done. Relax lol
That switch had not only good timing but great technique. For years I’ve watched fighters try to limp switch and finally someone hooks the thigh. I’m waiting for someone to hit a switch using their foot to hook the thigh next. Hook it with the foot keep the arm and you can put a good amount of leverage on the shoulder. Worst case scenario it’s a sweep and you’re back up.
Islam goes thru wars every day practicing with the group hes with. People saying he was wobbly, he wasnt nervous. Dustin isnt an easy fight for anyone. His record speaks for itself.
People talk about how you can’t feel Islam etc until you get in there. But I feel like defensively Leon has that same thing, wrestlers don’t understand how hard it is to get him down and avoid shots until you’re in there dealing with it.
I think people forgot that Stricklands talking is more exciting than his fights . He’s been criticized before that he goes harder against his sparring partners than his opponents. Almost every fight he does the same thing then when it’s the last 20-30 seconds of the fight then he starts yelling and trying to go crazy . Snoozefest that everyone is calling it is exactly what I expected in this fight. Only person who could have made it exciting would have been Paulo
Good day sir - over the years there was always issues with judging in some fights - The way to resolve that is to implement a 5 judge system (having 5 judges basically) - instead of only 3 judges - Now doing it this way you will most likely get a more accurate result of who the TRUE winner is. So if 1 or 2 judges mess up or judge poorly out of 5 judges then you still have the other 3 judges who may not likely mess up too. So the probability of announcing the TRUE winner is greater. - Now if it's only 3 judges however then that probability is way lower and your left with eyes raised thinking to yourself if he/ she is the TRUE winner or NOT etc. - So having 5 judges your creating a buffer for errors and poor/ bad judging and still get the most likely TRUE winner of the match.
I don’t like seeing fighters talked to the crowd during their fight. Just like Volk before. They should be 100% focus on their fight. That’s the difference between Khabibs team.
Agree with Josh on everything about DP… the only other resume like his is Jon Jones. I fuckin love Josh and Big John… one of the best MMA podcasts out there, could listen to these two talk fighting all damn day!
Since people want to play this game. Dustin continued to fight and do well against Islam despite a head clash that broke his nose. He then tried to put it back in place after an Islam takedown. This is also commendable as hell.
Dustin is not retiring, he is just saying that to keep his wife happy and as advanced negotiations with UFC to get payed more for the Connor fight and Justin trilogy 💯
I couldn't disagree with John more. Islam looked completely depleted even when he arrived to the stadium. Similar to first volk fight. Not sure if Staph or bad weight cut.
Islam/Poirier is one of the best title fights I’ve ever seen with one of the highest level endings to a fight I’ve ever seen. Islam pulling off that sequence in the middle of the 5th round really showed just how special of a fighter he is.
Jailton is phenomenal, and gets zero respect ever since he beat Derrick. 20 finishes in 21 wins, and the best wrestling & BJJ at HWT- better than Bones'. Bones TD Gane is not the same as TD Blaydes. Bones is also 7-27 TD since after OSP.
Islam and khabib these guys are champions in thier country and to the ppl who love them they really don’t get affected by the hate Caus in thier team they e recognized and celebrated and that’s all they really want
My thoughts on the live- I enjoyed having it on while watching the fights overall. You’ve done plenty of announcing I don’t mind if you did a little more of that. I don’t mind silence while watching the fights, but a couple times you asked for questions. I went to type one twice and missed good exchanges. Maybe have a live where people can chime in with voice questions. Finally I was 10-20 seconds delayed. Maybe have someone share your source/link 😉on Reddit or something. Overall it was dope though.
I think difference between khabib and Islam take down is that Khabib was able to drain all energies of his opponents through top pressure but in Islam case, he takes the back for submissions. So, that's why Volk and Dustin were not that tired in subsequent rounds and kept on attacking him with their offensive
Idk I think Leon is a really tough fight for him I mean porier has horrible td defense and Leon is massive and has much better striking Islam shouldn’t go up
I’d arguably say that seeing Islam go through a war and come out on top was better than him dominating. He went through some adversity and shined. May not be as flawless as Khabib, but god damn, his title run is gonna be way more entertaining!!!
No way Brown won that fight what crap! And the judge who scored the Costa fight and gave him the win should be fired for life! Never ever let that guy judge again. What was he watching?
So I just saw a video of Big John and Joe Rogan talking about how he literally named MMA while working for the cops… is it possible to talk about this in the next podcast??? It’ll be really good for us fans to hear things from an OG’s perspective once again ❤❤❤
